Local obituaries for the week beginning January 20, 2002 Sunday, January 20, 2002 Steven Meffer Steven Joseph Meffer, 30, of Cass City died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, from injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident. He was born March 8, 1971, in Grosse Pointe to John J. and Penny (Bennett) Meffer. Steven graduated from Marlette High School. He worked for CSS Concrete in Cass City. Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmachines, three- wheelers and music. He loved his children and spent time working with them on the computer. He played trumpet in high school and occasionally joined in with friends playing bones and a little guitar. Steven is survived by his wife, Dawn M. Meffer; children, Steven, Samantha, and Tyler Meffer, all at home; parents, John and Penny Meffer of Bad Axe; brothers, Jim Meffer and his wife, Angie, of Gulliver, and Johnny Meffer of Warren; sisters, Barbara Moase and her husband, Jimmy, of Charlotte, N.C. and Anita Meffer of Bad Axe; and six nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Meffer; grandparents, John and Helen Meffer, and Robert and Olive Bennett. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City with the Rev. Brian Cuddie of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Interment will take place in the spring in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Gerald Watson Jerry Watson, 56, of Caseville died Friday morning, Jan. 18, 2002, at Heartland Health Care, Bridgeport, after a long battle with health problems. He was born Nov. 11, 1945 at Henry Ford Hospital to the late John and Margaret (Kimball) Watson. Jerry graduated from Caseville High School in 1963 and went to Ferris State College. He received his bachelor's degree in education from Saginaw Valley State University. Jerry was a former partner of Even Heat Kiln Company of Caseville. He sold his stock in the company and began teaching, first at Caseville and then at ETC in Midland until June 2000 when he retired for health reasons. He was an avid golfer and had attended PGA school. He was a golf instructor at Caseville School for several years and had served on the board at Scenic Golf Club. Surviving are his brother, John Watson and his wife, Diane, of Caseville; his niece, Molly Ross; nephews, Mike and Bill Kelly; his great-nieces and nephews Jessica, Kelly, Quinn and Spencer. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at the Caseville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Michael Quayle, pastor will officiate with burial in the Caseville Twp. cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Caseville, and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Monday, January 21, 2002 Joyce Braun Joyce V. Braun, 81, of Westland passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at the home of her daughter. She was born Oct. 1, 1920, to the late Stanley and Grace (McKichan) Steadman. Her husbands John Blackstock and John Braun preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, John Blackstock and his wife, Gayle, of Bad Axe, Roger Braun and his wife, Vikki, of Belleville, and Richard Braun and his wife, Sheryl, of Canton; a daughter, Sharon Beyer and her husband, Robert, of Canton; two sisters, Phyllis Williams and her husband, James, of Canton, and June Hart and her husband, Rex, of California; three brothers, Durrell Steadman and his wife, Neomia, Max Steadman and his wife, Florence, of Bad Axe, and Earl Steadman and his wife, Betty Ann, of Florida; seven grandchildren, Dawn Frederick and her husband, Mark, John Blackstock, Kristen, Nicolette, Alisha, Hunter and Celeste Braun; and one great-grandson, Matthew Frederick. She was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Steadman. Funeral services took place on Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Vermeulen Funeral Home in Westland. Jay D. Randall Jay D. Randall, 63, of Vassar died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, in his winter home in Hudson, Fla. He was born Aug. 9, 1938, at home in Kingston to Leslie and Irene (Dulak) Randall. He married Dorothy Crawford Hilborn on June 3, 1995, in Vassar. Jay served in the U.S. Army at Fort Stewart, Ga., as a driver for a colonel. He worked for General Dynamics as a quality assurance engineer. He was the final inspector of the M1A1 tanks. He was a tool and die journeyman. Jay spent six years in Egypt. He was a past member of the Kingston Lions Club, past president of the MLBA and former coach and sponsor for the Kingston Little League baseball. Jay built and owned the Kingswood Inn in Kingston. He encouraged and sponsored blooperball, baseball, softball and basketball teams in the Thumb area. He began an annual Father's Day tournament. Jay was a professional Santa Claus for many years, giving many area families gifts and visits to help brighten their holiday. Jay is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children Suzanne R. Alexis and her husband, Michael, of Atlanta, Ga., and Jay D. Randall Jr. of Findlay, Ohio; the mother of his children, Patricia Gendron Randall; stepchildren, Bob Hilborn and his wife, Julie, of Mayville, Debbie Peche and her husband, Mike, of Vassar, Diane Payne and her husband, Kevin, of Montrose, and Jim Jenkins and his wife, Shawn, of Vassar; grandchildren, Ryan D. Randall, Matthew Alexis and Andrew Alexis; nine step-grandchildren; his father, Leslie C. Randall of Kingston; brothers, Leslie C. Randall, Jr., and his wife, Chris, of Atlanta, Ga., and Kirk Randall and his wife, Margo, of Keego Harbor; and many nieces and nephews. Betty Zick Betty Zick, 62, of Elkton passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at her home under hospice care following an extended illness. She was born on May 26, 1939, in Bloomfield Township, daughter of the late Harold and Helen (Bucholtz) Smith. She married Alfred Zick on Jan. 11, 1958, in the parsonage of St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Hope. Mrs. Zick was formerly employed at the Port Hope Vial Factory, Kritzman's Clothing Store in Bad Axe, and Winder's Products in Port Austin. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe. She enjoyed home decorating, various crafts, fishing and riding motorcycles. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Zick of Elkton; one son, Richard Zick of Anderson, Ind.; two daughters, Sandra Umphrey and her husband, Steven, of Saginaw and Deborah Janik and her husband, Joseph, of Bay City; a brother, Gerald Smith of Bad Axe; five grandchildren, Sara and Shannon Umphrey of Saginaw, and Jessica, Cassondra and Andrew Janik of Bay City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Edwin Chaplinski; and three brothers, Frederick, Wallace and Harold Smith. Zimmer, 61, of Gagetown died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 19, 2002, at his home from injuries sustained in a farm accident. He was born March 20, 1940, in Marine City to the late Edward and Mabel (Zweng) Zimmer. On Sept. 3, 1982, he was united in marriage to Judith Hands in Lakeville. Melvin lived in the Romeo-Armada area most of his life, where he grew up on a farm. He retired from General Motors in 1993 after more than 35 years of service. He and his wife moved to Grant Township in 1993 to pursue his love of farming. Surviving are his wife, Judy; his son, Philip Zimmer and his wife, Kelly, of Washington; his daughter, Marcy Zimmer of Warren; two brothers, Jerry Zimmer and his wife, Linda, and Thomas Zimmer; four sisters, Shirley Dobberowski and her husband, Carl, Rita Zupan, Bernadette Collins and her husband, Jim, and Mary Lou Allam and her husband, Mike. He was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanne Hulette. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service for immediate family and friends will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Community Wesleyan Church in Elkton. The Rev. Fr. John Weis will officiate with burial in Clinton Grove Cemetery in Mount Clemens. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements were handled by Champagne Funeral Chapel in Elkton. Richard "Dick" Ross Richard L. Ross Jr., 59, of Caro died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, in St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Kranz Funeral Home in Kingston with the Rev. Margaret Passenger of Pigeon First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Seton Cancer Institute at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw. Tuesday, January 22, 2002 Rose Campbell Rose M. (Lemanski) Campbell, 84, of Bad Axe and formerly of Ubly and Harbor Beach, died on Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility following a long illness. Mrs. Campbell was born on Jan. 11, 1918, in Harbor Beach, daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Jock) Koss. Miss Rose M. Koss and Roman Lemanski were united in marriage on June 24, 1939, at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach. The late Fr. James Marvin celebrated the marriage. Mr. Lemanski preceded his wife in death on Sept. 10, 1972. Mrs. Lemanski later married Bob Golding of Bad Axe. He died March 30, 1976. Rose and Duncan Campbell were married Aug. 1, 1992. Duncan, a well-known photographer, died April 18, 2000. Mrs. Campbell was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe, served as Eucharist Minister, and was a member of the choir and of the Daughters of Isabella. She attended Our Lady of Lake Huron High School, was employed at the former Bad Axe General Hospital, Hubbard Hospital, and the O/B Department of the former Huron Memorial Hospital. She especially enjoyed caring for the newborn babies. Rose always enjoyed being with her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Visiting with friends and neighbors, baking and cooking, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and reading books occupied her spare time. Surviving are one daughter, Madonna Howell and her husband, Owen, of Skandia, Mich.; one son, Robert J. Lemanski and his wife, Marie, of Bad Axe; five grandchildren, Joan Nystrom and her husband, Steve, of Manassas, Va., Robert Sytek of Columbus, Ohio; Gabriel Lemanski of Harbor Beach, Demetrius Lemanski of Lansing, Blanda Hattie and her husband, Chad, of Ga.; one great-grandson, Peter Nystrom; one sister, Elizabeth Garybowski of Auburn; one brother, Clarence Koss and his wife, Grace, of Harbor Beach; a brother-in-law, Redge Hurran; a step-daughter-in-law, Lorraine Dayringer and her husband, Gerald, of Midland; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by four sisters, Irene Masa, Dorothy Gainer, Bertha Gainer and Grace Hurran. Heilig, 48, of Canton Township died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at his home. Gene was born on Dec. 6, 1953, in Bad Axe to Bernard and Alice (Byarski) Heilig. Gene was in the United States Navy. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Gene is survived by his mother, Alice, of Southfield; father, Bernard and his wife, Josephine, of Cass City; one sister, Diane Bodner and her husband, Louis, of Kinde; one brother, Gary Heilig and his wife, Elizabeth, of Commerce Township; 10 nieces and nephews, Jim Bodner and his wife, Heidi, of Kinde, Tammy Bodner of Port Austin, Deanna Lincoln and her husband, Gary, of Milford, Courtney and Robert Heilig of Commerce Township, Michael Bodner of Redford, Jesse, Nicholas, Jessica and Miranda Bodner of Kinde. Grace Willey Grace Willey, 87, of Forestville passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, in the Harbor Beach Community Hospital following a long illness. She is survived by a son, David Willey of Forestville. Cremation took place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. A graveside service will take place this summer at East Delaware Cemetery in Forestville. Ramsey Funeral Home in Harbor Beach is handling the arrangements. Wednesday, January 23, 2002 Catherine Partaka Catherine L. Partaka, 71, of Minden City died Monday evening, Jan. 21, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw. She was born May 8, 1930, in Detroit, daughter of the late William and Ethel (Moore) Becker. She married Charles Partaka on Feb. 13, 1963, in Sandusky. He preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1986. She was born and raised in Detroit and attended school there. She moved to Minden City in 1961. She worked at General Cable in Cass City for a few years. She enjoyed cards, knitting, crocheting, needlework, going on family vacations, visiting with her children and grandchildren, and doing word searches. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine (Kitty) Hicks and her husband, Butch, of Texas, son Edward Schwartz and Cindy Casey of Minden City, son William Schwartz of Saginaw, daughter, Rose Smith and her husband, William, of Pontiac, daughter, Mayme (Mary) Sackrider and her husband, Charles, of Tennessee, son Charles Sperry and his wife, Patricia, of Minden City, son Franklin Partaka and his wife, Violet, of Clinton Township, daughter Caroline (Carol) Mac Shara and her husband, Scott, of Belleville, daughter Florence (Dolly) Casey and her husband, Troy, of Minden City, daughter Shirley Crothers and her husband, Kenneth, of Illinois; 28 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Alice Swartz of Ubly. Thursday, January 24, 2002 Robert Bechler Robert William Bechler, 75, of Pigeon died peacefully at his home in Pigeon on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002. He was born March 12, 1926, in Pigeon to William and Luanna (Weidman) Bechler. On Nov. 18, 1943, he was united in marriage to Mildred M. Morris at the Elkton United Methodist parsonage. Mr. Bechler was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a master mechanic at General Motors before retiring in 1989. He was considered a magician when it came to fixing anything mechanical. He loved to spend time with his family debating the finer points of politics and sports, and regaling all with stories about Pigeon's history. Mr. Bechler is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mildred; eight children, Rose Ann Houk and her husband, Peter, of East Lansing, Bonnie DeLaRosa of Sterling Heights, Karen Smith and her husband, William, of North Branch, Yvonne Bechler of Glade Springs, Va., Janet Villarreal and her husband, Tomas, of Clarkston, Jacqueline Bailey and her husband, Bruce, of Largo, Fla., Robert Bechler and his wife, Faye, of Arcadia, Fla., and Bobbie Jean Brown and her husband, David, of Mooresville, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pearl Menzel of Mayville; two brothers, Roland Bechler and his wife, Phyllis, and Clare Bechler and his wife, Donna, of Pigeon; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation will take place in Bay City. Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon, handled arrangements. Darlene Kiser Darlene Marie Kiser, 46, of Highland died suddenly of an apparent heart attack on Monday, Jan. 21, 2002. She was born March 20, 1955, in Bad Axe to Alger and Alice Horetski. Darlene graduated from Port Austin High School in 1973 and was married on Nov. 26, 1977. Darlene had been employed for Shermeta, Timko and Kirkpatrick for over 20 years. She is survived by her husband, Mark Kiser; children Christopher and Amanda; her mother, Alice Ann (Grifka) Horetski; brothers Leonard Horetski and his wife, Donna, and Gerald Horetski; sister Rose Burk and her husband, James; nieces Sheila and Kayla Horetski; nephews Jerod Horetski and Allen Burk and his wife, Tammy, and daughter Megan. Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Alger Anthony Horetski, in 1996. Funeral services will take place at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Memorial Gardens, 651 Hamlin Road, Rochester. Mary Kloc Mary Barbara Kloc, 81, of Port Austin died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. She was born on March 2, 1920, in Detroit, daughter of the late Albert and Sophia (Borowiak) Brodz. She enjoyed working at Ever-Lock Detroit until her retirement in 1990. She is survived by three children, Mary Ann Porzondek and her husband, Frank, of Port Austin, Kenneth Kloc and his wife, Linda, of Ortonville, and Robert Kloc and his wife, Priscilla, of Holland; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Alberta Kloc of Florida and Lynn Kloc of Capac; two sisters, Jessie Trexler and Sophia Brodz; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Victor and Richard; and one great-grandson, Michael Bise. Long, 80, of Harbor Beach passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Saginaw, following a short illness. Born in Harbor Beach on Aug. 10, 1921, he was the son of the late Fred and Lucy (Will) Long. Ray was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He and Theresa Michalski were united in marriage on Nov. 26, 1960, in Harbor Beach. Ray was a retired employee of the City of Harbor Beach, retiring in 1987. He was a former employee of Harbor Beach Community Schools and Russ Tilt's. Ray attended Zion Lutheran Church and was a member of the VFW Post of Harbor Beach. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Long of Harbor Beach; his children, Raymond Long of Pontiac, Jim Long of Deckerville and Janet Long of Harbor Beach; stepchildren, Harv Tenbusch of Harbor Beach, Lawrence Tenbusch of Traverse City, Paulette Shurboff of Jackson, Pam Craven of Harbor Beach and Tom Tenbusch of Harbor Beach; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Long of Harbor Beach and Allen Long of Oklahoma; and two sisters, Thelma Vigor of Algonac and Bea Bernum of Port Huron. Eugene Osentoski Eugene "Ozzie" Osentoski, 73, of Bad Axe died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe following a short illness. He was born on Oct. 18, 1928, in Bad Axe to the late Leo and Magdeline (Butterwick) Osentoski. Eugene Osentoski and Nancy Costello were married on Feb. 8, 1964, at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Kinde. Mrs. Osentoski preceded her husband in death on Sept. 4, 1994. Mr. Osentoski attended Sacred Heart and Bad Axe High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a seaman with the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the Frank Horetski American Legion Post No. 499 in Port Austin. Eugene was employed at Rooney's Construction, William Brothers Construction and Saginaw Asphalt Co. He retired in 1990. Ozzie was a member of the "Good Old Boys" Shuffleboard Club at Pete's Bar, and a member of Century Oaks Golf Course in Elkton. He enjoyed being with his family, visiting with his friends and neighbors, attending sports events, golfing, fishing and hunting. He is survived by one son, Patrick E. Osentoski of Bad Axe; two daughters, Karen Kiehl and her special friend, Dan Sulkowski, of Bad Axe, Roxanne Dziurgot and her special friend, Vic Nelawake, of Redford; four grandchildren, Justine Sielof of Florida, Philip and Chelsea Dziurgot of Redford, Willie Kiehl of Bad Axe; a great-granddaughter, Jacqueline Dziurgot; one brother, Duane "Duke" Osentoski and his wife, Stella, of Harbor Beach; two sisters, Carol Chapek of Bad Axe and Rita Bowden and her husband, Ben, of Mio; several nieces and nephews. Eugene was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald "Harp" Osentoski; two sisters, Jan Thomas and Lorraine Coote. A parish wake service will be conducted at 7 p.m. tonight at MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Gail Phillips Gail Irene Phillips, 65, of Bad Axe died Dec. 31, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw. She was born on Aug. 16, 1936, in Bad Axe to the late Earl VanCise and Viola VanCise Wendland. Gail enjoyed bingo, lottery, coin collecting, crossword puzzles and spending time with her friends and family. She is survived by five sons, John Phillips and Mitch Phillips of San Antonio, Texas, Vernon Phillips of Bad Axe, Ben Phillips and his wife, Donna, and Wayne Phillips of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four daughters, Laura Heenan of St. Louis, Mo., Carolyn Dorsch and her husband, Mitch, of Pigeon, Teresa Kennedy and her special friend, Kai, of Bad Axe, and Pamela Vuillemot and her husband, Earl, of Bad Axe; a sister, Joan Woolner and her husband, Carl, of Bad Axe; a stepsister, Dorothy LaFave of Bad Axe; two sisters-in-law, Margaret VanCise of Greenwood, S.C., and Cleo VanCise of Filion; 11 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Gail was preceded in death by her brother, Earl VanCise. According to her wishes, Gail was cremated and a memorial service will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Victory in Christ Community Church in Bad Axe. The Rev. Stewart Justin will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Visitation will be 2:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be offered to the Family Discretionary Fund. Harold Bandlow Harold N. Bandlow, 69, of Richmond Township, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002 at his home. Services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Hensch Memorial Funeral Home, 68476 S. Main St., Richmond. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friday, January 25, 2002 Anna Gabler Anna S. Gabler, 87, of Deford died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, in Marlette Community Hospital Extended Care Facility. She was born Feb. 2, 1914, in Palms to George and Elsbeth (Wolf) Conley. She married George C. Gabler on April 7, 1934, in Warren. He died on Aug. 6, 1988. Mrs. Gabler enjoyed sewing and embroidery and making blankets for many family members. She was a great cook and made the best chicken rice soup and apple tarts. Mrs. Gabler was a wonderful mom in spite of the hardships of her life. She never said anything bad about anyone. She loved her flower gardens, especially her gladiolus. Anna loved to sing. Anna is survived by her children, Dorothy Pierson and her husband, Robert, of Utica, Evelyn Gruber and her husband, Joseph, of Cass City, Irene McLellan of Deford, Gerald Gabler and his wife, Mary, of Decker, David Gabler of Deford, Judy Ferguson and her husband, Hugh, of Marlette, Robert E. Gabler of Akron and Ricky C. Gabler of Marlette; brothers Charlie Conley of Centerline and Laurence Conley and his wife, Vesta, of Florida; 22 grandchildren; and 47 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ernest Conley; and a granddaughter, Kim Gabler. Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City with the Rev. Fleming of Heritage United Methodist Church in Snover officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. this evening and 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Sequin, 88, of Bad Axe died Wednesday evening, Jan. 23, 2002, at her home after a long battle with lung cancer. She was born on Sept. 28, 1913, in Detroit to the late Arthur and Margaret Kretschmer. She married Israel Sequin in Detroit and lived in that area most of her life. Several years ago she moved to Bad Axe to be nearer her family because of her failing health. Surviving are two granddaughters, Penelope Napier of Westland and Hope Wormland and her husband, Jim, of Bad Axe; two great- grandchildren, Shannon Burns and her fiancee, Joe Perna, of Bad Axe and Robert Napier III of Westland; and two great-great-granddaughters, Kristen and McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Israel; a daughter, Peggy Burns; a sister; and four brothers. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or service. Leona Tennant Leona Gertrude Tennant, 83, of Bad Axe died Wednesday evening, Jan. 23, 2002, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility after a long illness. She was born Feb. 12, 1918, in Grindstone City, daughter of the late John and Phebe (Dowing) MacFadden. Leona MacFadden and Earle Tennant were married Dec. 27, 1954, in Pigeon. He preceded her in death on April 27, 1984. She was an avid golfer and former member of Verona Hills Golf Club where she won the Women's Division Club Championship in the years 1950- 58, 1960-63, 1965-66, 1969, 1971-72 and 1974. She also served as Women's Division President of the club in 1973 and 1974. Mrs. Tennant leaves several nieces and nephews and many good friends who will remember Leona with warm and fond memories. Three brothers and five sisters preceded her in death. Services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at the H.W. Weitenberner Funeral Home in Bad Axe. The Rev. John Killop, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bad Axe, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Lorraine Mazure Mrs. Lorraine Mazure, 70, of Standish and formerly of Ruth, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at her daughter's home in Standish. The funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Smith Corners. Visitation will be 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, from 1 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday, and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home of Ubly.
