Andreski, 99, of Port Austin, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. George was born on March 20, 1903 in Kinde, son of the late Frank and Hattie (Ignash) Andreski. He and Theresa Fisher were married on Oct. 25, 1932 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin. She preceded him in death on March 30, 1983. George was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin and of the U & I Club in Port Austin. He is survived by four daughters; Betty Langlois and her husband, Richard, of Gagetown, Joann Agar and her husband, William, of Decker, Jeanette Wolfgang of Saginaw, and Patricia Hanson and her husband, Michael, of Freeland; 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Ray Andreski of Kinde. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary; six brothers and eight sisters. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin. The Rev. Robert Pare' will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m. Monday at the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Louise Krohn Louise D. Krohn, 98, of Elkton, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 31, 2003, at Willow Tree Haven in Gagetown under hospice care. She was born Oct. 31, 1904 at the home of her parents, the late William and Herlanda (Hoegy) Ewald in Oliver Township, north of Elkton. Except for the last several years she lived her entire life within a couple of miles of where she was born. On Dec. 23, 1926 she was united in marriage to Roy W. Krohn at her parents home in Oliver Township. Mr. Krohn preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1973. Mrs. Krohn taught at numerous country schools in the county. After taking time to raise a family, she began teaching elementary students, first at Kinde North Huron, and then at Unionville-Sebewaing Schools, until retiring in 1970. She was the oldest member of the Elkton United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school many years. She was a member of the Huron County Retired Teachers Association and the Elkton Civic Club. Surviving are three children, Ronald Krohn and his wife, Donna, and Kenneth Krohn, all of Elkton, and Marjorie Hall and her husband, Richard, of Cass City; a daughter-in-law, Barb Krohn of Elkton; 12 grandchildren, David, Randy, Brenda, Rebecca, Curtis, Carolyn, Charlie, Heidi, Elizabeth, Paula, Michelle, and Dale; 23 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Naomi Shuart and Herlanda McPhail, both of Bad Axe; and a sister-in-law, Onalee Ewald of Elkton. Preceding her in death was a son, Bruce, and her siblings, Luella Young, Clayton Ewald, Fred Ewald, and Helen Ewald. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003 at the Elkton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Douglas Bassett, Hartland Hospice Chaplain, will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the church. Connell, 84, of Bay City and formerly of Decker, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Saginaw. He was born Feb. 27, 1918 in Shabbona to George and Grace (Hawkins) Connell. He married Fern J. McKenzie on Sept. 30, 1939 in Detroit. Edsel was Michigan's Light Heavyweight Golden Glove Champ in 1937 and 1938. He worked as a bus driver and safety superintendent for Greyhound for 38 years, retiring in 1979. Edsel and Fern lived in Bay City from 1956 to 1960. After his retirement in 1979, they returned to the Shabbona area where Edsel could pursue his love of gardening and farming. Edsel was a member of Calvary Bible Fellowship Church in Cass City and a member of Toastmasters in Bay City. He was a Sunday School teacher for more than 50 years. Edsel is survived by his wife, Fern; children, Sally Allen and her husband, Bill, of Bay City, "Bud" Edsel Connell II and his wife, Virginia, of Carmel Valley, Calif.; grandchildren, Kim Carey and his wife, Kris, Kameron Allen and his wife, Chris, Keith Allen and his wife, Shelly; great-grandchildren, Kyle Carey, Jonathan Hurrell, Emily Hurrell, McKenzie Allen, Grace Allen, Bob Thomas, Jessica Thomas; sister, Helen Severance of Ann Arbor; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Fredericks; brothers, Howard and George Connell. Peruski, 87, of Jeddo and formerly of Minden City, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Mercy Hospital of Port Huron. She was born March 29, 1915 in Bad Axe, daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Briolat) Pelot. She married Lawrence Peruski on Nov. 29, 1947 at St. Mary Catholic Church of Parisville. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1987. She was a graduate of the eighth grade at the Minden country school. She helped on the family farm, was a life long member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Parisville, and she loved to do canning and gardening. She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Coburn and her husband, Thomas, of Croswell; three granddaughters, Angela Delage and her husband, Phil, of Sterling Heights, Shelley Dennison and her husband, Doug, of Lexington, Julia Seamen and her husband, Eric, of Lexington; one great- granddaughter, Samantha Dennison; one great-grandson, Shawn Dennison; one sister, Agnes Erdman of Marlette; three sisters-in-law, Eileen Pelot of Minden City, Marie Peruski of Ubly, Winnie Peruski of Sterling Heights. Carl Schuette Carl Ernst Schuette, 76, of Elkton, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, of injuries received in an auto accident. Carl was born Nov. 22, 1926 at the home of his parents, the late Chris and Sophia (Bergman) Schuette, in Oliver Township, the same home where he was currently living. On Feb. 7, 1948, he was united in marriage to Caroline Rosenthal at Cross Lutheran Church, Pigeon. Carl's life was happy and full. He loved his Lord, his family, his many friends and his tractors. He was a lifelong member of Cross Lutheran Church, where he held many positions over the years. He served as a member of the Sebewaing Sugar Beet Board for several terms and was a long time member of the Hart-Parr/Oliver Collectors Association. Carl was an innovative farmer, growing potatoes, peas and sunflower seeds and then selling them locally. In the winter, Carl stayed busy in his shop building, welding and inventing, or he was out plowing snow, something he did for more than 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Caroline; two sons, Chuck and his wife, Mary, of Owendale, Chris of Pigeon; two daughters, Connie Herford and her husband, Neil, of Elkton, Cheryl Sturm and her husband, Randy, of Pigeon; six grandchildren, Angie Felton and her husband, Jim, of Mount Pleasant, Jody Herford of Chicago, Ill., and her fiance, Ken Wagner, Grant Herford and his wife, Jen, of Norwalk, Conn., Martin Sturm and Jenny Sturm of Pigeon, Austin Schuette of Owendale; four great-grandsons, Zachary, Taylor, Sloan, and Turner Felton; two sisters, Hulda Baur of Bay Port, Olga Renn and her husband, Fred, of Pigeon; sisters-in-law, Viola Shuette, Gladys Shuette, and Ann Shuette, all of Pigeon; three brothers-in-law, Joe Rosenthal and his wife, Florence, Walt Rosenthal and his wife, Millie, Martin Rosenthal and his wife, Jane; one sister-in-law, Sophie Van Hevel and her husband, Maurice; and many nieces and nephews. He was born Nov. 4, 1922, son of Walter Clair Ross and Isabella (Todd) Ross, in Unionville and moved to Sarasota 21 years ago from Charlotte. He attended Michigan State University, was a U.S. Army veteran who served with the 18th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron, Mechanized in Europe in World War II. He received the purple heart in the Battle of the Bulge. He was active in the oil business, serving as a corporate officer of S. T. and H. Oil Co. of Bad Axe and Todd and Ross Oil Co. of Ionia. Later he was in real estate sales in both Bad Axe and Charlotte. He was a member and past president of Bad Axe Rotary and a member of Kiwanis clubs. He was active in Bad Axe School Board civic affairs, in musical groups and in Presbyterian Men's organizations. A member of Sarasota's Church of the Palms-Presbyterian, he had been an elder in the Presbyterian Church for over 45 years. He has been a long-time choir member in his various church affiliations. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, (Margaret) Ann; two daughters, Connie Schultz and her husband, Robert, of Findlay, Ohio, Jane Murdock and her husband, Richard, of Charlotte; a son, Scott Clair Ross and his wife, Margo, of Charlotte; and two grandchildren, Glenn and Tamra Ross. He was preceded in death by one brother, Todd Andrew Ross. Tuesday, February 4, 2003 Elizabeth Brinker Elizabeth May Brinker, 86, former resident of Bad Axe and Kinde, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Lake Orion Nursing Center in Lake Orion after a brief illness. Elizabeth was born Jan. 2, 1917 in Huron Township to the late Frederick and Elizabeth (Davidson) Aisthorpe. After the death of her mother, she was adopted by the late Daniel and Gertrude (McGuire) McDonald. Elizabeth was a graduate of Kinde High School where she played the drums in the high school band. On April 25, 1936, she was united in marriage to Clayton E. Brinker of Kinde at LaGrange, Ind. In the spring of 1944, Mr. and Mrs. Brinker moved from Kinde to Bad Axe, where they resided until the late 1970's. Elizabeth was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bad Axe and Eastern Star. She was a Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher. Elizabeth was active in her children's education. She was a room mother for many years and was instrumental in supplying clothing and food to families in need. Elizabeth also did the interior decorating in the Brinker Lumber Company model homes. Her cooking, baking and canning skills were exceptional. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and family get togethers. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Clayton E. Brinker; daughters, Kaye McDonald and her husband, David, of Bad Axe, Charlotte Patton and her husband, Jack, of Lake Orion, Carmen Ferguson and her husband, Robert, of Seward, Alaska, Kirsten Brinker, Michael Mundth of Pontiac; ten grandsons; two granddaughters; and five great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, William Kurt Brinker and daughter, Constance Elizabeth Wilson. David Isham David Lee Isham, 70, died Jan. 30, 2003, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. He was born on Aug. 19, 1932 to Claude and Mini (Shoptaw) Isham in Winchester, Ind. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving three years during the Korean Conflict. He then became the owner of Isham Jewelers in Detroit. After retiring in 1987, he and his wife, Susan, moved from Kinde to Lake Havasu City, Ariz. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and an elder at the Church of Christ-Oro Grande. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Susan, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; sons, David Isham of Owosso, Michael Isham of Filion, and Randy Isham of Clinton, Iowa; a daughter, Pamela Isham-Fry of Port Austin; and eight grandchildren. She was born on Sept. 24, 1939 in Port Austin to Lottie (Baranski) and the late Walter Wisneski. Carol Wisneski and Gerald Ahearn were united in marriage on Nov. 14, 1959. Carol was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kinde. She was active in St. Mary's Holy Rosary Sodality. She was a member of the VFW 4003, Kinde Ladies Auxiliary. Carol worked at Huron Medical Center for 20 years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a Detroit Pistons fan and a Hospice volunteer. Bowman, 88, of Caseville passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. She was born in Alpena on July 15, 1914, the daughter of the late Gordon G. and Della M. (LaDouceur) Perchard. She graduated from Alpena High School. She was married to Joseph J. Vineski in Alpena; he passed away in 1964. In 1966 she was married to William Bowman who preceded her in death in 1982. From 1953 to 1963 she and her husband Joseph Vineski owned and operated the Country House in Kawkawlin. Mrs. Bowman was a member of the Caseville Fraternal order of Eagles #3690 Auxiliary. She is survived by a son, Paul Vineski and his wife, Rita, of Westland; a step-son, James Bowman of Detroit; a step-daughter, Shirley Gugan of Royal Oak; two grandchildren, Jeffery Vineski and his wife, Sommer, Theresa Lacca and her husband, Frank; four great-grandchildren, Zachery, Garrett, Sarah and Tyler. Mischung, 88, of Sebewaing died Monday evening, Feb. 3, 2003, at Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe following a lengthy illness. She was born Nov. 6, 1914, in Bach, daughter of the late Jacob and Molly (Ebel) Meissner. She was united in marriage to Andrew Mischung on May 9, 1931, in Sebewaing. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1993. Mary was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. She is survived by two daughters, Jean Wissner and her husband, Glen, of Sebewaing, Shirley Wurst and her husband, James, of Sand Point; five granddaughters, Pamela Geiger and her husband, Paul, of Sebewaing, Wendy Tally and her husband, Webster, of Bay City, Jodie Bolzman and her husband, Michael, of Unionville, Michelle Louwers and her husband, Steve, of Caseville, Melissa DeBoer and her husband, Dirk, of Essexville; great-grandchildren, Tracy, Marc and Kristin Geiger, Ashley Wright, Angela and Jennifer Gremel, Jordan Bolzman, Chase and Christopher Louwers; step- grandchildren, Laurie Walker and Ray Quiel, Jeffrey and Rosemary Wurst; step-great grandchildren, Emily and Amanda Walker, Matthew, Bradley and Crissy Reinhardt; one sister, Clara Brooks of South Lyons; and several nieces and nephews. Baranski, 84, of Bad Axe, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Sunny Acres Nursing Center in Bad Axe. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. Thursday, February 6, 2003 Martha Bollinger Martha "Marty" Bollinger, 72, of Caseville, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 5, 2003, at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe, following a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born May 22, 1929 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. to the late Paul and Altha (Smith) Uelsmann. On July 3, 1947, she was united in marriage to Billy Bollinger in Cape Girardeau, Mo. They moved to Michigan near Detroit in 1968. After raising her family, Marty was employed as a secretary at Gemco in Clawson for 10 years retiring in 1987. In 1989 they moved to Caseville from Royal Oak. She was a member of the Caseville Eagle Auxiliary where she served on the Ritual Team for many years. She is survived by her husband, Bill; two children, Alta Paul and her husband, Rusty, of Woodland Park, Colorado, Mark Bollinger of Sylvan Lake; granddaughter, Mst. Sgt. Patricia Goretski Patricia Ilene Goretski, 69, of Port Austin died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at her home. She was born on March 17, 1933, in Port Austin, daughter of the late Willard and Angela (Bruce) Walsh. She and Raymond Goretski were married on April 11, 1953 at St. Felix Catholic Church in Pinnebog. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2000. Pat was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Kinde. She was a graduate of Elkton High School. Pat worked for years at North Huron Schools as a cook as well as a bus driver. After her retirement she continued to volunteer as a teacher's assistant. Pat loved spending time with her grandchildren, bowling and playing golf. She is survived by two sons, William Goretski and his wife, Loraine, of Port Austin, James Goretski and his wife, Cherie, of Kinde; two daughters, JoAnn Kapa and her husband, Kenny, of Clinton Township, Jeanne Fisher and her husband, Joseph, of Birch Run; 11 grandchildren, Nathan, Aaron, Stephanie, Karlie, and Nicholas Goretski, Kyle, Ryan, and Matthew Kapa, Jacqueline, Jill, and Jeanine Fisher; brother, James Walsh and his wife, Joanne, of Petaluma, Calif.; three sisters, Ann Larabell and her husband, Wilford, of Commerce Township, Marguerite Ross and her husband, Edward, of Northville, Irene Flanagan and her husband, Patrick, of Livonia. Friday, February 07, 2003 Clare Dast Clare J. Dast, 75, of Pigeon, died Thursday morning, Feb. 6, 2003, at Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe following a brief illness. He was born on Oct. 10, 1927 in Bay Port, son of the late John W. and M.T. Amanda (Heck) Dast. He was united in marriage to MariAnne M. Neurath on Oct. 8, 1949, at Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon. Clare had been employed at Advanced Industries (Pigeon Lumber Company) in Pigeon for 30 years. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Berne and had served on several church offices. He was the Winsor Township treasurer for 39 years and a Winsor Township fireman for 34 years. He also was a member of the Pigeon V.F.W. Post No. 2236 where he held various offices. He also was a past member of Pigeon Conservation Club. He was a loving husband and father and deeply loved his Bible class and Christian fellowship. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was involved in the Bikini Eniwetok nuclear bomb test. He is survived by his wife, MariAnne, of Pigeon; one son, Michael John Dast, Golden, Colorado; two daughters, Jacquelynn M. Edwards and her husband, Daniel, of Bad Axe, Michelle E. Braunschweig and her husband, Richard, of East Troy, Wis.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois M. Dast, of Pigeon; two brothers, Wesley Dast and his wife, Verda, and Donald Dast, all of Pigeon; one brother-in-law, Herbert H. Neurath and his wife, Elaine, of Pigeon; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Verona Dast. The funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Berne. The Rev. James A. Gorsegner will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Military graveside committal services will be conducted at the cemetery following the funeral. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. tonight and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home in Pigeon. He will lie in state from 9 until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice. Anna Petzel Anna Mary Petzel, 87, beloved wife of Charles, of Port Austin, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. She was born on April 2, 1915 in Owensboro, Ky., daughter of the late Florence and Albert Jones. Anna Mary is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter, Barbara Sue Ratz; son, Richard Charles and his wife, Jamie; four grandchildren, Christopher Lee Ratz and his wife, Kristin, Brian Michael Ratz, Kathleen Marie Lennig and her husband, Scott, Patrick Michael Ignagni and his wife, Annie; eight great-grandchildren, Alexis Marie Ratz, Jenna Lynn Ratz, Mark Christopher Ratz, Lilyanna N. Ratz, Isaac Michael Ratz, Allison Marie Lennig, Emma Ruth Anne Lennig, and Olivia Ruth Ignagni. Anna Mary is preceded in death by her son, Charles Norman; daughter, Ruth Anne (James) Ignagni; three brothers, Chester (Nora), William (Lourene) and Carl (Ethel); two sisters, Mable Williams and Kathryn (Ted) Meyers. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Feb. 10, 2003 at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Eastpointe. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Detroit. Arrangements are being handled by the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde. 1
