Sunday, September 14, 2003 Richard DeChane Richard Junior "Junie" DeChane, 79, of Eastpointe, passed away September 11, 2003, at the John Dingell Veteran Hospital in Detroit. He was born in Bad Axe on July 13, 1924 to the late Frank and Jennie (Brown) DeChane. Richard worked for the Huron Daily Tribune and the Detroit Newspapers. He was a member of the Typographical Union No. 18/CWA No. 14583. He is survived by his wife, Frances; three sons, Michael DeChane, of Ocala, Fla., Richard C. DeChane and his wife, Cheryl, of Casselbury, Fla. and John DeChane and his wife, Rachel, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and their mother, Minnie, of Deland, Fla.; three step-daughters, Rene Fairchild and her husband, Ace, of Harwood, Texas, Jamie Owens and her husband, John, of Harwood Texas, and Terri Jurczak, of St. Clair Shores; one sister, Evelyn Voss; one brother, Gerald DeChane and his wife, Ilene, all of Bad Axe, and many grandchildren and nephews and nieces. Richard was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Raftery; and two brothers, Willard DeChane and Harold DeChane. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no service or visitation. Cremation has already taken place. Burial will take place at the Colfax Township Cemetery. MacAlpine Funeral Home of Bad Axe is handling the arrangements. Edward Tipinski Edward Tipinski, 82, of Port Austin, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2003, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. He was born in New Kensington, Pennsylvania on August 1, 1921, son of the late William and Mary (Porempski) Tipinski. On March 27, 1941, he was united in marriage to May Carney in Winchester, Virginia. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2003. Mr. Tipinski was a WWII Navy Veteran serving as a Motor Machinist Mate Third Class. He was a skilled automobile mechanic and was employed by the Ford Motor Co. Upon retirement Mr. and Mrs. Tipinski moved to Port Austin. He is survived by two brothers, Joe and Rudy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother and five sisters. Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements have been conducted by Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, Pigeon. Caroline Northenor Caroline Northenor, 90, of Caseville, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2003, at Tendercare of Cass City. A Funeral Memorial Mass was conducted on Saturday, September 13, 2003, in Hamtramck. Funeral arrangements were conducted by Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, Pigeon. Monday, September 15, 2003 Donald Pangborn Donald "Blink" Pangborn, 63, of Sparks, Nevada and formerly of Bad Axe, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2002, in Nevada, following an extended illness. He was born on September 12, 1939 in Verona Township, son of the late Kenton Pangborn and Theresa (Arch) Pangborn-McDonald. He was a member of the Bad Axe High School Class of 1957. He served three years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Essex aircraft carrier with his brother, Gary. He was a welder for many years. He is survived by two daughters, Chris Tabbi and her husband, Sam, of Chesterfield Township, Patty Bayerski and her husband, David, of Warren; two sisters, Shirley Case and her husband, Stub, of Bad Axe, Carol Hill and her husband, Ed, of Bad Axe; one brother, James Pangborn and his wife, Cindy, of Grosse Pte. Farms; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Pangborn; and one nephew, Jeff Hill. Private interment services were conducted on Friday, September 12, 2003, at Colfax Cemetery. Memorials may be offered to the Bad Axe High School football program. Arrangements were conducted through the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Harold Weisenbach Harold H. Weisenbach, 87, of Sebewaing, died Sunday morning, September 14, 2003, at his home following a one month illness. He was born on December 22, 1915 in Fairhaven Township, son of the late Edward and Esther (Mor) Weisenbach. He was united in marriage to Thelma H. Bossert on November 24, 1934 in Caro. She preceded him in death on March 20, 1993. Harold had been a self employed scrap dealer, a truck driver for 70 years and also had been employed at Michigan Sugar Company in Sebewaing for 50 campaigns before retiring in 1980. Surviving are five sons, Richard Weisenbach and his wife, Shirley, Dennis Weisenbach, Harold Weisenbach, Jr. and his wife, Margaret, Gary Weisenbach and his wife, Barb, all of Sebewaing, Donald Weisenbach and his wife, Karen, of Owendale; five daughters, Shirley Gaeth and her husband, Charles, Geraldine Koepf, Betty Carter and her husband, Benny, Kathy Hodder and her husband, Robert, all of Sebewaing, Barbara Sting and her husband, William, of Saginaw; 34 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Seibel, of Sebewaing; two brothers, J.D. Weisenbach and his wife, Shirley, of Cass City, Keith Sales and his wife, Joan, of Caro; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Weisenbach, of Sebewaing; two sisters-in-law, Leatha Weisenbach and Deloris Weisenbach, both of Caro; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, David and Robert Weisenbach; two brothers, Delano and Martin Weisenbach; one grandchild, John Weisenbach. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. The Rev. Ray McGee will officiate with burial in the Sebewaing Assembly of God Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Heartland Homecare and Hospice or Trinity United Methodist Church. Jacqueline Wilson Jacqueline F. Wilson, 72, of Caseville, died Thursday, September 11, 2003, at Hills and Dales Hospital, Cass City. She was born on December 12, 1930 in Bradford, Pa. to the late Elvyn and Pearl (Reid) Earl and moved to the Caro area in her youth. On June 2, 1956, she was united in marriage to Warren A. Wilson in Saginaw. She and her husband operated the Wilson Studio and Camera Shop in Caro until 1980 when they retired. Jackie enjoyed reading, primarily magazines and current events. She also loved to sew and make many beautiful clothes. Surviving are three sons, Brian Wilson and his wife, Sharon, of Velencia, California, Kimball Wilson and his wife, Susan, of Battle Creek, and Charles Wilson and his wife, Yvonne, of Bad Axe; four grandchildren and a sister. Tuesday, September 16, 2003 Elizabeth Cowie Elizabeth M. Cowie, 89, of Washington Township, died Sunday, September 14, 2003, in Clinton Township. She was born on March 29, 1914 in Sigel. She was a former resident of Bad Axe and was a retired short order cook for Detroit Edison. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Joy Hotton, of Palm Bay, Florida, Marilynn Meyer and her husband, Henry, of Washington, and Robert Cowie and his wife, Virginia, of Grand Blanc; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Frank Elandt, of Detroit, Raymond Elandt, of Hot Springs, Arizona, Henry Elandt, of Bad Axe, Dorothy Pokora, of Ubly, and Edward Elandt, of Concord, California. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Donald. The funeral service will be at noon on Thursday, September 18, 2003, at Our Redeemer Lutheran, 8600 27 Mile Road, Washington Township. Kirsch, 90, of Harbor Beach, passed away Monday, September 15, 2003, at Harbor Beach Community Hospital following a brief illness. He was born May 31, 1913 in Harbor Beach to the late Albert and Bertha (Priemer) Kirsch. Eugene and Sophie Radgowski were united in marriage on February 14, 1953. Eugene was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church of Harbor Beach, and was treasurer of the Sand Beach Township for 16 years. He is survived by his wife, Sophie; daughters, Mary Callendar and her husband, Rick, of Harbor Beach, Lenora Schmidt and her husband, William, of Cleveland, Ohio, Michelle Kirsch and her friend, John McCullough, of Bad Axe; sister, Helen Scrase, of Harbor Beach; 12 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Eugene was preceded in death by a son, John Kirsch, on March 9, 1999; and a brother, Harold Kirsch. A funeral mass will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2003, in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, Harbor Beach. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Lentner, 77, of Sebewaing, died Monday, September 15, 2003, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Saginaw following a brief illness. He was born on December 2, 1925 in Sebewaing Township, son of the late Henry and Lillian (Jahr) Lentner. John had been a farmer in the Sebewaing area for many years and had been a devoted employee of Michigan Sugar Company for 53 campaigns. He is survived by one son, David Lentner and his wife, Patricia, of Sebewaing; one daughter, Cathy Hodder and her husband, Dennis, of St. Helen; three grandchildren, Heather Henne and her husband, Trever, Michael Hodder and Steve Slater; and a very special friend, Kathleen Bieri, of Sebewaing; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Elaine Slater, in 1988 and one sister, Alice Shope. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2003, at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. The Rev. Raymond E. Rachael "Jackie" Thayer Rachael "Jackie" Thayer, 77, of Bad Axe and formerly of Palms, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2003, at Huron Medical Care Facility. She was born on August 28, 1926 in Earl, Wisconsin to Elmer and Freda (Elder) Hope. Rachael loved to make braided rugs, garden, cook and bake; and she also loved her cats. She taught herself how to play the guitar and piano. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by two sons, Dennis Thayer (Gini Spencer) of San Diego, California, Charles Thayer (Barbara Cross) of Dana Pointe, California; three daughters, Carol Trainer, of Bad Axe, Grace Cibulskis and her husband, Tony, of Romulus, Denise Hewens and her husband, Al, of Bad Axe; one sister, Theone Johnson, of Ora Valley, Arizona; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-nieces and nephews; special friend, Clarence Goebel. Rachael was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, George Thayer; two brothers, Wilfred Hope, and Everette Hope; and one sister, Dorothy Mausolf. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2003, in Apsey Funeral Home in Deckerville. The Rev. Robert Srock, of Jeddo United Methodist Church, will officiate. Irveline Benfield Irveline Doris Benfield, 89, of Saginaw and formerly of Kingston, died Monday, September 15, 2003, in Deckerville Community Hospital, Deckerville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2003, at Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston, with the Rev. Terry Butters, of Kingston United Methodist Church, officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. Thursday, September 18, 2003 Marie Younglove Marie A. Younglove, 72, of Bad Axe and formerly of Austin Township, passed away Tuesday evening, September 16, 2003, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Bad Axe. Marie was born on March 27, 1931 in Tyre to the late John Paul and Annie E. (Guigar) Franzel. She married Clarence Younglove on May 29, 1954 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church of Freiburg. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1972. Marie attended the Freiburg Elementary school through the eighth grade and was a 1950 graduate of Ubly High School. She was a housewife and mother. She was a lifelong parishioner at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Freiburg and was a member of the Altar Society. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Marie is survived by two daughters, Nancy Peplinski and her husband, Chris, of Nebraska, Tammy Jewett of Bad Axe; six grandchildren, Jeremy and Justin Faber, Cory, Tiffany, Ashley and Brittany Jewett; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine Faber and Alexis Jewett; one brother, Cornelius Franzel, of Snover; one sister, Ruth Ann Stanley and her husband, John, of Hazel Park; and several nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers, Robert Sr., Martin Lincoln, Edward, Michael, Frank, Earnest, Henry, and Steven Meno "Baldy" Franzel; two sisters, Cecelia Pearson and Stella Peters. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2003, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church of Freiburg. The Rev. T.J. Fleming, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friday, September 19, 2003 Edna Buetow Edna E. (Woodbeck) (Sander) Buetow, 91, of Saginaw, joined all her loved ones in Heaven on Thursday, September 18, 2003, from the Martin Lutheran Memorial Home in Saginaw and now truly rests in the loving arms of Jesus. Edna was born to John and Emma (Rau) Hensler on January 24, 1912, in Freeland. She was a retired registered nurse supervisor from the former St. Luke's Hospital. In April 1934 Edna married Raymond Woodbeck. He passed away in 1946. In August 1947 she married the Rev. Edgar J. Sander and he predeceased her in 1965. Edna and Alfred Buetow were married in January 1975. He passed away in September 2002. Edna was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was involved in various church organizations. The one most important to her heart was serving on the Board of Evangelism. Edna is lovingly survived by her children, Carolyn Wolinski and her husband, Ray, of Saginaw, David Sander and his wife, Donna, of Garden City, Karen Iseler and her husband, Allan, of Kinde, Edgar Sander and his wife, Norma, of Livonia, Beth Engerer and her husband, Gene, of Bay City, Michael Sander and his wife, Debbie, of Hemlock; 26 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; step-children, Ken Buetow and his wife, Ruthann, Edna Davis and her husband, Fred, Margaret Buetow; many step- grandchildren; one brother, John Hensler and his wife, Mildred; sisters, Thelma Lohrmann, Rhea Grass, Zona Beeman, and Donna Turner. Edna was preceded in death by her children, Darwin Sander, Cherylene (Sander) Layer; sons-in-law, George Layer, Jerome Aspin; step-son, Alfred Buetow; grandsons, Matthew Sander, Bryan and Douglas Engerer; sisters, Agnes Klein, Amelia Sparschu, Marie Ludlum; brothers, Clarence and Clemens Hensler. Edna's celebration of life will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2003, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss, Saginaw. The Rev. Michael R. Korte will officiate. Her final resting place will be in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N.
