Sunday, March 23, 2003 – No obituaries reported Monday, March 24, 2003 Arnold Schuette Jr. Arnold F. Schuette Jr., 62, of Pigeon, passed away Saturday, March 22, at Tendercare of Cass City. He was born in Pigeon on Dec. 2, 1940, the son of Arnold W. and Amanda (Wurst) Schuette. On Sept. 28, 1963, he was united in marriage to Dianne R. Gotham at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Berne. Mr. Schuette was a carpenter and was employed with Bay Port Construction for more than 20 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved woodworking and building things. He was an active member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher. He is survived by his wife, Dianne; his mother, Amanda Schuette of Pigeon; two brothers, Harvey Schuette and his wife, Doris, Orville Schuette and his wife, Millie, all of Pigeon; three sisters, Lorraine Metzger of Owendale, Genevieve Buschlen and her husband, LeRoy, Noel Wichert and her husband, Ronald, all of Pigeon; many nieces and nephews; brothers-in- law and sisters-in-law, Charline Gremel of Sebewaing, Charles Gotham of Unionville, and Darrell Gotham and his wife, Andrea, of Bay Port. He was preceded in death by his father. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Berne, with the Rev. James A. Gorsegner, pastor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home in Pigeon and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Tuesday, March 25, 2003 Anna Damm Anna Martha Damm, 96, of Pigeon, passed away Monday, March 24, 2003, at the Scheurer Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Pigeon. She was born on July 3, 1906 near Bay Port, daughter of the late Frederick and Hulda (Fick) Elftman. She married Walter Damm in Berne on June 18, 1925. He preceded her in death on May 9, 1986. Mrs. Damm was a graduate of St. John's Lutheran School in Berne. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and cake decorating, as well as needlecrafts such as tatting, crocheting, quilting and making afghans. She was a member of the Pigeon Senior Citizens, the Farm Bureau, the First United Methodist Church in Pigeon and the United Methodist Women. She is survived by two daughters, Lorraine Otto and her husband, Lester, of Pigeon, Karen Story and her husband, Robert, of Bay City; two sons, Frederick W. "Fritz" Damm and his wife, Ruth, of Bay Port, Roger W. Damm and his wife, Saundra, of Gregory; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and sister, Frieda Leyrer of Bay City. She was preceded in death by three sisters; and five brothers. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church in Pigeon with the Rev. Margaret Passenger, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Grand Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home in Pigeon and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. William Morgan William Charles Morgan, 71, passed away March 4, 2003 at the University of Seattle Hospital in Seattle, Wash. Bill was born on June 15, 1931 in Wyandotte to the late Ford and Katherine (Irish) Morgan. He was raised in Pinnebog on the family farm. He attended grade school there and then graduated from the Elkton High School in 1951. Bill married Ruth C. Sullivan of Bad Axe, daughter of the late John Clinton and Caroline (Irwin) Sullivan, on June 19, 1954 in Bad Axe. He farmed on the family farm for awhile and then in 1962, they moved to Seattle, Wash. where he worked for Boeing Aircraft until he retired after 30 years of employment. He also umpired baseball for little league when his children were young. He enjoyed watching the Mariners and playing on a pool league, a bowling league, fishing and just enjoying his family. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth C. Morgan, of Kent, Wash; two sons, William Thomas Morgan and his wife, Candi, of Maple Valley, Wash., Richard Morgan and his wife, Cheryl, of Enumclaw, Wash.; two daughters, Debra Beck and her husband, Steven, of Renton, Wash., Durema Boche and her husband, Ron, of Kent, Wash.; grandchildren, Darla Chamberlin and her husband, James, Jamie, and Sean Morgan, Kristina, Chelsea, and Cherie Beck, Marshall, and Charlie Morgan, Samantha, and Tyler Boche; great- grandchildren, Kristopher and Sabrina Chamberlin. A celebration of life was conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2003, at Cherokee Bay Community Clubhouse in Maple Valley, Wash. Memorials may be made to Diabetes Foundation. Wednesday, March 26, 2003 Thomas Ryder Thomas A. Ryder, 69, of Port Austin, died Monday, March 24, 2003, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born on Jan. 5, 1934 in Detroit, son of the late Thomas and Marguerite (Hageman) Ryder. Thomas moved to Port Austin from Detroit in 1992 and worked as a zoning inspector for the village of Port Austin as well as Port Austin Township. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Nemeth of East China; his brother, Fr. Frederick W. Ryder C. PP. S of Carthagena, Ohio; his nephew, Kenneth Eugene Nemeth and his wife, Sandy; niece, Deborah Doyle and her husband, Don; nephew, John T. Nemeth and his wife, Denise; very good friend, Frank Corley. A funeral mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2003, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin. Fr. Robert Pare' and Fr. Frederick W. Ryder will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. There will be a Vigil at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde. Visitation will be conducted from 2 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. Thursday, March 27, 2003 Gordon Bensinger Gordon L. Bensinger, 73, of Ubly, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Saginaw. Gordon was born May 31, 1929 in Bad Axe to the late Frank and Winifred (Hagen) Bensinger. He married Charlene Motz on June 9, 1956 at the Elkton Evangelical United Brethren Church. Gordon graduated from Ubly High School. He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He was an American Breeders Service Tech for over 15 years. He farmed for several years. He owned and operated Buds & Blossoms Flower Shop in Ubly and Cass City for 20 years before retiring in 1997. During his retirement, he was a part time courier for Signature Bank. He was a member of the Blue Jacket Choir. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ubly. He enjoyed gardening, baking homemade bread, western novels and movies, visiting with his farmer friends, and activities with his grandchildren. Gordon is survived by his wife, Charlene, of Ubly; one daughter, Karen Lackowski and her husband, Dan, of Ubly; two grandchildren, Jared and Kara Lackowski, of Ubly; several nieces and nephews. Gordon was preceded in death by four brothers, Clayton, Robert, Bruce and Clancy. Funeral service for Gordon Bensinger will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2003, at the Zinger- Smigielski Funeral Home of Ubly. Mr. Hubert Howell, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Ubly, will officiate. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery of Ubly. Visitation will be from 1 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and from 9:30 until the service time at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Bertha Jaynes Bertha S. Jaynes, 88, of Colville, Wash. and formerly of Caro, died Friday, March 14, 2003, in Pinewood Terrace Nursing Home, Colville, Wash. Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Gilford United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Wickert officiating. Interment is in Almer Township Cemetery, Caro. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund. Arrangements are being handled by Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City. Friday, March 28, 2003 Addison Ingles Addison "Hon" Ingles, 84, of Harbor Beach, passed away Thursday morning in Harbor Beach Community Hospital. Hon was born on April 24, 1918 to the late Frank and Mary (Martin) Ingles in Harbor Beach. Hon and Eileen Patterson were united in marriage on Oct. 12, 1946. He worked as an electrician with Hercules for many years, was a firefighter for the Harbor Beach Fire Department, was a member of the VFW Post No. 9344, a member of the American Legion Post No. 197, a member of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, and was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Harbor Beach. Hon is survived by his wife, Eileen; two sons, Richard Ingles of Washington, Robert Ingles and his wife, Barb, of Colorado; one daughter, Becky Hillacker and her husband, Joe, of Deford; two grandchildren, Hannah Ingles and Jessie Hillacker; one great-granddaughter, Shannon Hillacker; one brother, Oscar Ingles of Harbor Beach. Hon was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Franklin, Clayton and Robert Ingles; one sister, Laverta Maahs; grandson, Aaron Hillacker; and his wife, Loren. Funeral services for Hon will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2003, in the First Presbyterian Church of Harbor Beach, with the Rev. Theresa Cutler officiating. Burial will follow in Rockfalls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday in the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach, and from 1 p.m. until the time of the services on Saturday at the church. Military honors will be given by the American Legion Post No. 197, and the VFW Post No. 9344. Marcus Sadro Marcus Sadro, 80, of Minden City, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Marlette Community Hospital.
