Brown, 78, of Harbor Beach, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 29, 2004, in the Harbor Beach Community Hospital. Born in Gagetown on February 7, 1926, he was the son of the late William E. and Alma M. (Kivel) Brown. Milo was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army in Germany. On October 1, 1948, Milo and Doris Roach were united in marriage in Port Huron. Milo was a retired employee of the Huron Milling Company and Hercules, Inc., working for 39 years and retiring in 1988. He was the engineer for the small locomotive "The Dinky" for many years at the plant. He had a love of model trains, gardening and walking. Milo was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Harbor Beach and the VFW Post 9344 of Harbor Beach. He is survived by his wife, Doris Brown, of Harbor Beach; children, Sandra Kay Allen and her husband, Terry, of Kansas City, Missouri, Milo Brown, Jr. and his wife, Ann, of Kansas City, Kansas, and Linda Nowiski and her husband, Larry, of Harbor Beach; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Stacey and Rachael Allen, Joshua and Bobbie Brown and Matthew, Daniel, and Douglas Nowiski; three sisters, Gladys Waun, of Port Huron, Grace Kraft and her husband, Robert, of Arizona, and Eileen Kelly, of Florida. Milo was preceded in death by four brothers, Roy, Clarence, Bill, and Ronald Brown. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2004, at the Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor Beach, with Evangelist Ellis Gardner officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Rock Falls Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from noon until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Community of Christ Church. Geraldine Dominiak Geraldine Dominiak, 93, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2004, in Fort Worth, Texas. Geraldine was born on March 28, 1911 in Detroit. She was a retired telephone operator at Michigan Bell Telephone Company. After retirement, she moved to Lake Township with her husband, Ben Dominiak, who passed away in 1987. Geraldine then moved to Fort Worth to be with her daughter. Surviving her is a daughter, Dr. G.F. Dominiak, of Fort Worth; two nieces; one nephew; three great-nieces; one great-nephew; and two great-great-nephews. The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2004, in Greenwood Memorial Park, Fort Worth, Texas. Arrangements were made by Greenwood Funeral Home, Fort Worth, Texas. Doris Stephenson Doris May Stephenson, 76, of Bad Axe, died Saturday, May 1, 2004, at Huron Medical Center, Bad Axe. She was born January 1, 1928 in Bad Axe, daughter of the late George and Eva May (Bassett) Edwards. Doris and Gerald Leslie Stephenson were united in marriage on June 3, 1949 in Bad Axe. Doris was employed at the Bean Pot for many years and at the Franklin Inn and Spenax for seven years. She enjoyed cooking and visiting with her family and friends. Mrs. Stephenson is survived by her husband, Gerald; three sons, James Stephenson and his wife, Mary, of Bad Axe, Gerald Stephenson and his wife, RoseMary, of Flat Rock, Indiana, and George Stephenson and his wife, Betty, of Bad Axe; three daughters, Betty Appleton, of Deckerville, Mary Stephenson, of Bad Axe, and Violet Morrison and her husband, Howard, of Bad Axe; 13 grandchildren, Brian, John, Tina, Tim, Tami, Tonya, Trina, Gary, Joseph, David, Kimberly, Lisa and Joshua; 12 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Myrtle Edwards, of Bad Axe. She was preceded in death by one infant son; one grandson, Eric Stephenson; two great- grandchildren, Timothy Stephenson and Travis Guinther; and two brothers, Ernest and Raymond Edwards. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at MacAlpine Funeral Home, Bad Axe. Rev. Stewart Justin, Pastor of Victory in Christ Community Church, will officiate. Burial will take place at Verona Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today, from 1 to 9 p.m. on Monday, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Monday, May 3, 2004 – No obituaries reported Tuesday, May 4, 2004 Kenneth L. Weatherhead Businessman Kenneth Weatherhead, 75, died peacefully surrounded by his family in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday, April 28, 2004. Ken was born in Huron County on March 1, 1929. His parents, Frank and Gladys Weatherhead, resided in Gagetown for many years where they raised Ken, younger brother William and two sisters, Anita and Elaine. His father was a school teacher in the Cass City School System and his mother operated a beauty salon in their Gagetown home. A younger brother, William Weatherhead, who preceded him in death, is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Flint. His sisters, Anita Loomis, and her husband, Donald, and Elaine Hendricks and her husband, Richard, currently reside in the Cass City area. The former husband of Marion Kritzman of Cass City, he was a devoted father to their four children. His memory as a loving father and family man will be forever cherished by Rick Weatherhead and his wife, Susan, of Michigan, Randy Weatherhead, of Illinois, Cindy Gilmore and her husband, Terry, of California, and Lisa Cellers and her husband, Stewart, of Arizona. Mr. Weatherhead spent the early part of his career with Kroger Company and A & P before he purchased the Elkton IGA grocery store which he proudly operated as a family business for more than 20 years. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1976, where he finished his career in the grocery business with Bashas Supermarkets. Ken excelled in sports during high school and loved to hunt and fish with his children. He especially loved to read and enjoyed writing poems in his later years. Ken will be remembered by his many friends, neighbors, and children in the Gilbert, Arizona area as the kind gentleman who always greeted the children coming home from school with his big dog "Mugsy". By his children, his legacy as a man of integrity, honesty, and compassion will live on in them and in the hearts of his 12 grandchildren. At his request, no immediate formal services will be conducted. Interment will be private. His home and chosen resting place is in the small quaint area known as the Thumb of Michigan. A special remembrance service among immediate family and friends from his earlier years will be conducted in his honor at 4 p.m. on July 24, 2004 at Elkton United Methodist Church. Wednesday, May 05, 2004 Lillian Gudrun Kingsrud Lillian Gudrun Kingsrud, 94, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2004. She was born February 4, 1910 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Gustaf and Agnes (Johnson) Hansen. She grew up and attended school in Minneapolis. Lillian married Ralph M. Kingsrud on December 14, 1929 at the Riverside Chapel in Minneapolis. The couple made their home in Fargo, North Dakota. Lillian worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses as well as for her husband during his career as a golf pro. Lillian enjoyed golfing, bowling and music, both singing and playing the piano. She was an avid card player and stayed busy knitting for loved ones. She was affiliated with Ascension Lutheran Church. Survivors include one son, David R. Kingsrud and his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Nancy L. Stannard and her husband, James, and Kathy E. Kingsrud-Adams and her husband, Jerry; grandchildren, Amy, Michael, Matthew, David, Heather, Stacey and Michelle; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Charlise "Charlie", Kate, Erin, Meaghan, and Maureen. Preceding her in death was her husband, Ralph; and sister, Olga Mattson. Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, May 8, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2505 North Circle, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Thursday, May 6, 2004 Charles J. Billmeier Charles J. Billmeier, 77, of Sebewaing, died Wednesday morning, May 5, 2004, at his home following a five-year illness. He was born on October 24, 1926 in Saginaw, son of the late Carl and Elsie (Schartow) Billmeier. He was united in marriage to Laura Onalee Waack. Charles was the second owner of Billmeier Jewelry Store in Saginaw which his father started in 1946. Charles entered the business in 1946 and operated it until his retirement in 1987. The jewelry store is now in its fourth generation. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Fountain Hills, Arizona and the Scenic Golf and Country Club in Pigeon. He was an avid golfer, outdoorsman and fisherman. He also served in the Merchant Marines. Surviving are his wife, Laura Onalee; three sons, Mark A. Billmeier and his wife, Marie, of Linwood, Charles J. Billmeier, Jr., of Saginaw, The Rev. Martin Billmeier, of Toledo; two daughters, Andrea Deming and her husband, William, of Portage, Gretchen Sanders and her husband, James, of Clinton Township; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Martin and her husband, Dr. Charles, of Perry, Oklahoma, Elise Rossow and her husband, Karl, of East Lansing; and mother of his children, Leila Billmeier, of Linwood; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2004, at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing with the Rev. Martin Billmeier officiating. There will be a prayer and committal service at 4 p.m. on Saturday in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Saginaw. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today, from noon to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home in Sebewaing. Duard Holz Sr. Duard "Duey" John Holz, Sr., 77, resident of Ubly, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Huron Medical Center of Bad Axe after a bout with cancer. He was born June 8, 1926 in Meade Township, son of the late Matthew and Delcina (Bouverette) Holz. Duard married Loreane (Inda) Osentoski on November 20, 1971. Duey was a member of the Fraser Presbyterian Church. He attended the Crown Country School and served in the United States Army during World War II. He farmed, worked on road construction with Rooney Contracting and William Brothers. He was a maintenance worker for ST&H Oil Company. He also worked for Moczik Tool & Die and retired from Thumb Tool & Engineering. Duey enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, dancing, playing cards, and making wine. He also looked forward to Wednesday meetings with the Popple Trail Blazer's group. He always enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and life in general. Surviving are his wife, Loreane; one son, Duey Holz, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Filion; one daughter, Janet Massey and her husband, Chris, of Newberry; two step-sons, Marvin Osentoski and his wife, Amy, of Bad Axe, Duane Osentoski and his special friend, Laura Higgins, of San Diego, California; two step-daughters, Marilyn Rice and her husband, Randy, of Kinde, Sharon Epperson and her husband, Mark, of Bad Axe; ten grandchildren, Ona, Jim, and Sarah Holz, Jacob Bowler, Christina and Samuel Massey, Abby and Jesse Osentoski, Marcus and Patrick Epperson; five sisters, Helen Rooney and her husband, Gib, Doris Talaski and her husband, Carl, Carol Bowron, Susan Czewski and her husband, Leonard, Kathy Karg and her husband, Fred; three brothers, Kenneth Holz and his wife, Doris, Robert "Moe" Holz and his wife, Nancy, John Holz and his wife, Kathy; two sisters-in-law, Janice Holz and Marion Holz; his mother-in-law, Agnes Inda; one aunt, Lena Baumert; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Duey was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Holz; one granddaughter, Stephanie Gaffney; two brothers, Matthew and Gerald Holz; his father-in-law, Stanley Inda; one brother-in-law, Wilford Bowron; and one sister-in-law, Wanda Murawski. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2004, at MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. The Rev. David Blackburn, pastor of Frasier Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
