Kirkpatrick, 91, of Kinde, died Saturday, August 7, 2004, at her home. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was born February 21, 1913 in Boyne City to the late James and Emma (Manning) Arnott. Miss Eula Arnott and Ross Kirkpatrick were united in marriage on November 9, 1935 in Port Huron. Eula was a graduate of Kinde High School and County Normal College. She taught school at the Sheperd School in Huron Township. Eula attended First Baptist Church of Bad Axe. She enjoyed baking, gardening, crocheting and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Ross; one son, Elwood Kirkpatrick and his wife, Michelle, of Kinde; four grandchildren, Dean Kirkpatrick and his wife, Maureen, of Kinde, Ron Kirkpatrick and his wife, Andrea, of Kinde, Craig Iden and his wife, Lisa, of Kinde, Brad Kirkpatrick and his wife, Amy, of Traverse City; 10 great-grandchildren, Randy, Dallas, Sean, Corey, Casey, Brooke, Colin, Eric, Derek, Nathan; and a special niece, Beverly Macfarland, of Bay City. Eula was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilford, Charles and Leslie Arnott. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at the Gage Chapel MacAlpine Funeral Home of Kinde with Pastor Jay Barsaleau officiating. Burial will be at New River Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. on Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Florence Marie Sprague Florence Marie Sprague, 67, of Caseville, died on Friday, August 6, 2004, at Covenant Health Care, Harrison Medical Center in Saginaw following a brief illness. She was born January 8, 1937 in Pinconning, daughter of the late Oscar and Marie (Adrian) Groh. She was married to Gilbert Sprague on October 20, 1956 in Flint. He preceded her in death on July 29, 1995. Florence worked at Owendale Automotive for 15 years before retiring in 1978. She was a volunteer for Human Development Commission as a foster grandparent for several years. She was a member of Victory in Christ Community Church in Bad Axe. Florence loved to fish and especially enjoyed her poodle, Licorice. Surviving are two daughters, four sons and their spouses: Tonya Gaeth and her husband, Arnold, of Unionville, Jody Sprague and her special friend, Craig Ozbat, of Owendale; Gilbert Sprague, Jr. and his wife, Joy, of Owendale, Bryan Sprague and his wife, Mary, of Bay Port, Bradley Sprague and his wife, Lori, of Sebewaing, Kevin Sprague and his wife, Donna, of Owendale; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step great- grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Clark and her husband, Layton, of Linwood, Beatrice Burtsch Bentley; three brothers, Charles Groh, Harvey Groh and his wife, Zola, all of Pinconning, Edward Groh, of Saginaw; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Gregory Sprague; one granddaughter, Lisa Gaeth; three brothers, Kenneth, Hank and John Groh; one sister, Hazel Musselman. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2004, at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. The Rev. Stewart L. Justin will officiate with burial in the New Bay Port Cemetery. Richard Rolston Richard Rolston, 79, of Ubly, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 7, 2004, in Huron Medical Center of Bad Axe. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2004, in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with Chuck Emmert, of Novesta Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will take place in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of the donor's choice. Monday, August 9, 2004 Magdalen A. Gorney Magdalen A. Gorney, 92, of Harbor Beach, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2004, at the Huron Medical Care Facility. Magdalen was born on September 12, 1911 in Harbor Beach to the late John and Theresa (Mausolf) Kanthak. She and Theodore Gorney were united in holy matrimony on January 13, 1940 in Harbor Beach. Theodore passed away on June 9, 1972. Magdalen was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church. She is survived by a son, John Gorney and his wife, Diane, of Dearborn; a daughter, Carol Hunt and her husband, Gary, of Bad Axe; grandchildren, William and Barbara Gorney, Karen and Dennis Mcginn, Elizabeth and Scott Freeman, Robert and Becky Gorney and Jim and Tami Hunt; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Samantha, Katelyn, Corey, Robert Jr. and Holly; sisters, Eloise Chesney, of Harbor Beach, and Rita Marie Snyder, of St. Clair Shores; brother-in-law, Alex "Bud" Gorney, of Harbor Beach. Magdalen loved her family and grandchildren with all her heart. She was a loving and caring person who loved everyone. Magdalen was preceded in death by three sisters, Theresa Jebraski, Marquarite Wrubel, and Mary Angeline Roumell. Funeral Mass for Magdalen will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2004, in the Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church of Harbor Beach, with the Rev. Steve Gavit officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday in the church. A parish vigil service will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home. Faith E. Taylor Faith E. Taylor, 52, of Pigeon, died Saturday morning, August 7, 2004, at Marlette Community Hospital, Hospice Residence, following a three week illness. She was born on March 28, 1952 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, daughter of the late George and Mary (McHelran) Pratt. She was united in marriage to Gary L. Taylor on January 2, 1976 in Pittsfield, Illinois. Faith enjoyed reading and music. She is survived by her husband, Gary; one son, Nathanael at home; and two nieces. She was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon MacKenzie. Cremation has already taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2004, at St. John's Episcopal Church (The Little Church In The Woods) on Sand Point. Arrangements are being handled by the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home in Pigeon. James N. Giddings James "Jim" N. Giddings, 40, of Caro, died Sunday, August 8, 2004, in his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2004, in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, and from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Indianfields Township Cemetery, Caro. Elandt, 81, of Bad Axe, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at his home under Hospice Care. He was born on May 16, 1923 in Harbor Beach Hospital, son of the late Henry A. and Mathilda (Uller) Elandt. He married Dorothy Abraham on November 18, 1944 in Parisville. Mr. Elandt was an eighth grade graduate of the Adams School. He retired from the Huron County Road Commission, where he had worked from 1949 to 1985. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Elandt, of Bad Axe; three sons, Paul Elandt and his wife, Linda, of Port Hope, James Elandt and his wife, Elaine, of Sterling Heights, Larry Elandt and his wife, Marie, of North Carolina; two daughters, Mary Tschirhart and her husband, Donald, of Bad Axe, Linda Essenmacher and her husband, Bruce, of Harbor Beach; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; three step-great- grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Pokora, of Ubly; three brothers, Frank Elandt and his wife, Nita, of Detroit, Ray Elandt and his wife, Susan, of Arkansas, Ed Elandt and his wife, Catherine, of California; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Essenmacher, of Harbor Beach, Lottie Elandt, of Indian River; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Sgt. Aaron Elandt, on May 30, 2004; three brothers, William, Leonard, and John Elandt; two sisters, Betty Cowie and Margaret Bollaert. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson. Officiating will be Fr. James Carlson, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wayne Quinn Wayne Quinn, 58, of Kinde, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2004, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was born January 26, 1946 in Bad Axe to the late Francis and Theresa (Kozlowski) Quinn. He married Joann (Rice) on November 27, 1965. Wayne was a graduate of North Huron High School. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Kinde, a former member of the Grindstone Sportsman Club. He was active at Quarry Field Association Grindstone. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and excavating and spending time with family. Wayne is survived by his wife, Joann; four daughters, Lori Hass and her husband, Melvin, of Bad Axe, Tammy Morell and her husband, Joe, of Ubly, Lisa Duda and her husband, Tom, of Kinde, Tracy Kuhn and her husband, Bryan, of Freeland; five sisters, Merrily Jimkoski and her husband, Robert, of Port Austin, Gale Norris and her husband, John, of Powell, Tennessee, Darleen Kanaby, of Kinde, Ellen Rytlewski and her husband, Jerry, of Auburn, Colleen Majeski and her husband, David, of Filion; eight grandchildren, Heather and Brad Hass, of Bad Axe, Brittany and Chelsey Morell, of Ubly, Alexis, Quinn, and Frankie Duda, of Kinde, Logon Kuhn, of Freeland; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law, Mary Rice, of Bad Axe. Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2004, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Kinde with Fr. Mieczyslaw Oniskiewicz officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, from 1 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Gage Chapel MacAlpine Funeral Home of Kinde. There will be a Holy Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and a vigil service at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family discretionary fund. Violet M. Zimmerman Violet M. Zimmerman, 72, of Sebewaing, died Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at Bay Regional Medical Center in Bay City following a lengthy illness. She was born January 28, 1932 in Sault Ste. Marie, daughter of the late Alfred and Pauline (Fisher) Kleeman. She had been employed at Morris King in Bay City for several years. Violet was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing. She enjoyed camping, traveling and especially senior citizen trips. Surviving are four daughters and three sons, Marcia Messick and her husband, Dallas, of Yakima, Washington, Linda Deeg and her husband, Robert, Donald Miller, both of Sebewaing, Michael Miller and his wife, Mary, Darrell Miller, Patricia Patton and her husband, David, all of Port Townsend, Washington, Rhonda Vargos and her husband, J. R., of Buena, Washington; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elsie Kleeman and Sylvia Kleeman; one sister-in-law, Florence Kleeman, of Farwell; one brother, Robert Kleeman, of Spirit Lake, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Grzenia; three brothers, Ralph, Alfred and George Kleeman. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. Thursday, August 12, 2004 – No obituaries reported Friday, August 13, 2004 Violet Stark Violet Stark, 97, slipped away quietly at home on Thursday, August 12, 2004, to be with the Lord she loved and served for many years. She will be missed by her family and a host of friends from Bad Axe, Oskaloosa, Iowa, Spring Arbor, and Dayton, Ohio. Violet worked along side of her husband, Charles, on their farm in Bingham Township. After her daughters left home, she went to work as a secretary at the Huron County Courthouse. She wrote poetry, played the piano, loved to walk, read, entertain, do crossword puzzles, and was a member of Bad Axe Free Methodist Church. She was born in Cadillac on September 22, 1906. She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Dayhoff and her husband, Paul, of University Park, Iowa, Elizabeth Taylor and her husband, John, of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Paula Else and her husband, Mark, Pat Barnes and her husband, Ron, Elizabeth Gates and her husband, Dayrel, James Dayhoff and his wife, Christi, Joel Taylor, Amy Harlan and her husband, Kevin, Daniel Taylor and his wife, Julie; great-grandchildren, Anthony and his wife, Jeanna, Rebecca, Sherri and her husband, Blaze, Rachel, Emily, Madalyn, Hannah, Nicholas, Carley, Andy, Becca, Michael, Alex and Katherine; great-great-grandchildren, Parker and Hailey; brother-in-law, Bern VanderKool; sister-in-law, Joan Stark; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Charles; parents, Lewis and Gertrude Fletcher; brothers, Earl and Vivian Fletcher; sisters, Lillian Fletcher and Helen VanderKool. Smith Virginia Ann (Piper) Smith, 48, of Clinton Township and formerly of Harbor Beach, passed away at her home in Clinton Township on Thursday, August 12, 2004. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2004, in Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor Beach, with burial in the Rock Falls Cemetery.
