Sunday, May 16, 2004 Mary Antoszewski Mary Antoszewski, 54, of Port Austin, died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. She was born March 28, 1950 in Bad Axe, daughter of the late Ray and Francis (Gottschalk) Souva. She married Henry Antoszewski on September 25, 1971 in St. Edward's Catholic Church in Kinde. Mary is survived by Henry Antoszewski of Port Austin; four children, Carrie Antoszewski and her fiance, Brian VandeMark, of Sebewaing, Brenda Fritz and her husband, Kevin, of Mt. Pleasant, David Antoszewski and his special friend, Kristi May, of Port Austin, and Daniel Antoszewski and his special friend, Brandy Carter, of Port Huron; two grandchildren, Jacob and Isabella Fritz, of Mt. Pleasant; three brothers, Daniel Souva and his wife, Caroline, of Port Austin, Leonard Souva and his wife, Beverly, of Caseville, and Robert Souva and his wife, Linda, of Kinde; one sister, Rose Miller and her husband, Reginald, of Mt. Pleasant; her stepmother, Francis Kline Souva, of Caseville; her stepsister, Beverly Souva, of Caseville; her stepbrother, Vern Kline and his wife, Barb, of Caseville; and several nieces and nephews. Mary was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin and was employed at the Bad Axe Wal-Mart for 10 years. She enjoyed hunting, camping, watching high school sports and being with friends. A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin. The Rev. Robert Pare, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. on Monday, and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde. There will be vigil at 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Arntz Benjamin Franklin Arntz, Jr., 78, of Harbor Beach, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2004, in the long term care unit of the Harbor Beach Community Hospital following a short illness. Born in Harbor Beach on February 1, 1925, he was the son of the late Benjamin F. and Mary E. (Walker) Arntz, Sr. Ben was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach and was a retired employee of Hercules, Inc., of Harbor Beach. Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Bernice (Kalka) Arntz, of Harbor Beach, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Arntz; and five sisters, Hazel Maxwell, Dorothy Wisenbach, Theresa Detgen, Ethel Landenberg and Carrie Robinson. A funeral mass for Ben will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2004, in Our Lady of Lake Huron Church with the Rev. Gerald Kukla officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Charles J. Kimmel Charles J. Kimmel, age 87, of Elkton, left his earthly home and entered into eternal rest on Friday morning, May 14, 2004, at his home. He was born December 23, 1916 in Detroit to the late Charles and Anna (Grimshaw) Kimmel, Sr. After high school, Chuck started working at R. P. Scherer Corporation; in 1942, he was inducted into the Army Air Force and served in Europe during WW II. When he returned home, he continued with his job at R. P. Scherer, retiring in December of 1976 as a supervisor with 42 years of service. On December 9, 1966, he was united in marriage to June E. (Osborne) McBride in Pontiac. They moved to Chandler Township, north of Elkton, shortly after he retired in 1976, and then into Elkton in the late 1980s. June preceded him in death on March 29, 1999. Chuck was still very ambitious and became the first greeter at Wal-Mart when it opened in Bad Axe, retiring several years later. Charles liked to read, tend to the flowers and birds, and to be in the company of his family and friends. He especially enjoyed the presence of his children. He had a grand sense of humor and an ever-present twinkle in his eyes. Chuck was a member of the Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton, a long-time member of the Harper Woods VFW Post 6784 and more recently of the Carpenter-Dorsch VFW Post 6013, Elkton. He was also a proud supporter of the WW II Veterans Memorial at Washington D.C. Beloved and devoted father and grandfather, he is survived by 11 children; four sons, Daniel Kimmel, of Mt. Clemens, Charles Kimmel and wife, Janice, of Midland, James McBride, and wife, Patricia, of Gaylord, and Dennis McBride, of Gotts Corner; seven daughters, Sandra Calvert and her husband, Chuck, of Median, Ohio, Susan Farwell, of Mt. Clemens, Sherri Miglio and her husband, Mark, of Burleson, Texas, Jeri Hill and her husband, Thomas, of Clarkston, Kim Cregeur of Deland, Florida, Karin Cook and her husband, David, of Elkton, and Kelly King and her husband, David, of Gaylord; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, Frank Kimmel, of Waterford; his sister, Grace Kennedy, of Clarkston; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were a brother, Lester, and three sisters, Eleanor Bowler, Marion Fauss and Shirley Hill. Clark, 52, of Saginaw and formerly of Harbor Beach, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2004, from injuries in an auto accident in Saginaw. Born in Harbor Beach on February 25, 1952, he was the son of Charlotte (Klug) Clark and the late Leland Clark. Bill was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Navy for four years. He was an employee of the Veterans Hospital in Saginaw. Betty Jean David Betty Jean David, 69, of Harbor Beach, passed away Monday, May 17, 2004, in the long term care unit of the Harbor Beach Community Hospital. Betty was born in Dearborn on December 1, 1934 to the late Elmer and Mayme (Cowie) Iseler. On June 14, 1952, Betty and Dale David were united in marriage in Harbor Beach. She was a retired employee of Kmart Corporation working in the Fenton location for 22 years and she was a health care volunteer in Linden for many years. She is survived by her husband, Dale, of Harbor Beach; children, Dennis David and his wife, Felita, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sheryl David, of Swartz Creek, Cathi David, of Swartz Creek, and Tina Flood and her husband, Ray, of Linden; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; and twin sister, Barbara Will, of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Gary David. Marcella E. Grant Marcella Elizabeth Grant, 92, of Harbor Beach, passed away Monday, May 17, 2004, in the long term care unit of the Harbor Beach Community Hospital. Born in Harbor Beach on July 21, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Veronica (Forthoffer) Pelath. She married Gordon Kowalke in February 1929. He preceded her in death in 1934. Marcella married Fred B. Grant in 1934 in Detroit. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1986. She was a former employee of Harbor Beach Resort Association, Michigan Bell in Detroit and Johnson & Johnson. Marcella was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach. She is survived by a son, Gordon Kowalke, of St. Clair Shores, a daughter, Leona Wheeler, of Warren; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Stagman, of Farmington Hills; and some special people in her life, Gordon and Judy Kowalke III, Pauline Ginther, Pam and Russ Moran, and Paula Emerick. Parker, 76, of Harbor Beach, passed away Monday, May 17, 2004, at her home with her family and hospice care at her side. Born in Detroit on January 26, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Gertrude (Korleski) Scoviac. She was a former employee of the Harbor Beach Resort Association and a retired employee of the Huron Laundry Cleaners of Harbor Beach after working there for 40 years. On June 21, 1947, Madeline and Jerome Parker were united in marriage in Harbor Beach. She was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach and enjoyed playing cards, gardening with her flowers, sewing and crocheting, latch hooking and especially playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Jerome Parker, of Harbor Beach; and her children, Gerald Parker and his wife, Bea, of Harbor Beach, Linda Sosnoski and her husband, Blaine, of Bad Axe, and Dennis Parker, of Harbor Beach; five grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren; brother, Alex Scoviac and his wife, Gloria, of Davison; sisters, Leona Yaroch, of Macomb and Rose Ballew and her husband, Jim, of Hamtramck. Rinnert, of Owendale, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2004, at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw due to complications of the heart. He attended Elkton High School. He was a tool and die welder for 33 years and retired in 2000 from Sebewaing Industries. He enjoyed building custom birdhouses and bird- watching, remodeling the family home, gardening, and landscaping. He was an avid builder of stock cars and enjoyed racing at Owendale Speedway. He was a loving husband and devoted to his family. Wednesday, May 19, 2004 Marguerite "Margaret" Baber Marguerite "Margaret" (Krohn) Baber, 71, of Madison Heights, passed away Monday, May 17, 2004, at St. John Oakland, Madison Heights. She was born on March 18, 1933 in Elkton. She married Elliott Baber on August 10, 1957 in Elkton. Marguerite was a resident of Warren for 39 years. She was a private music teacher in Warren. In 1951, she graduated from Elkton High School and in 1955, she graduated from Fort Wayne Bible College with a music degree. She was a 16 year member of Calvary Baptist Church, Hazel Park. Marguerite is survived by her husband, Elliott; children, Becky Hayman and her husband, Lyle, of Madison Heights, Randy Baber and his wife, Priscilla, of Madison Heights; three grandchildren, Jennifer Baber, Camryn and Joshua Hayman. She was preceded in death by her brothers, William, Wayne, and Donald Krohn. Elliott, 86, resident of Port Austin, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, and friend to everyone, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday morning, May 18, 2004, at Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. He was born November 16, 1917 in Huron County, son of the late Wallace Sr. and Josephine (Schmitt) Elliott. Henry was married to Leona Ahearn on November 20, 1937. They were married for over 62 years. She preceded her husband in death on May 29, 2000. Mr. Elliott was a member of Kinde First Presbyterian Church and the U & I Club in Port Austin. He was a lifelong farmer. He served on the Hume Township Board from 1970-1992, and was a Justice of the Peace from 1953-1966. Hank traveled to Zephyr Hills, Florida with family and friends for the past 20 years. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, playing cards, and going for car rides to look at the crops. Gloria Fay Teschendorf Gloria Fay Teschendorf, 73, of Orion Township, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2004. She was the beloved wife of Cleo for 51 years; dear mother of Dennis Teschendorf and his wife, Jean, of Rochester Hills, Robin Teschendorf, of Waterford, and the late Dean; dear sister of Oren Emerick, of St. Helen, and Terry Emerick and his wife, Peggy, of Port Hope; grandmother of Justin, Robert, Lindsay, Ryan, Adam and Kyle; daughter of Edwin Emerick of Port Hope and the late Marguerite Emerick. Feger, 81, of Lake Township near Oak Beach, died Wednesday morning, May 19, 2004, at her home. She was born July 8, 1922 in Detroit to the late Glen and Minnie (Whorley) Caufman. On October 21, 1939, she was united in marriage to Joseph K. Feger at her parent's home in Detroit. Joseph and Martha lived in Detroit and raised most of their family there. In 1969, when their youngest child, David, was nine, they moved north to Oak Beach on the shores of Saginaw Bay. Together they operated Feger's Sunset Resort for the past 35 years. She was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville, and Caseville Eagle Auxiliary. Her passion was music and she loved to play the piano. Surviving are her husband of almost 65 years, Joseph; nine children, Joseph Feger and his wife, Judy, of Sterling Heights, Janet Ropes and her husband, Dave, of Utica, Carol Astrino and her husband, Russ, of Shelby Township, Eileen Kasa and her husband, Jeno, of Leonard, Rosemary Brinkman and her husband, Andrew, of St. Clair Shores, Patricia Zebula and her husband, Tom, of Sterling Heights, Michael Feger and his wife, Christine, of Sterling Heights, Bruce Feger and his wife, Sabrina, of Beulah, and David Feger and his wife, Tina, of Oak Beach; 25 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Hunt, 57, of Bad Axe, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2004, following an apparent heart attack. He was born September 4, 1946 in Bad Axe, son of John W. and Joy Ann (Hess) Hunt. He married Cherie Streussnig on May 20, 1967 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Mark owned Hunt's Refrigeration and Hunt Trucking, Inc., where he hauled milk to Melody Farms in Lansing until he retired on September 1, 2003. He was a member of the Harbor Beach High School Class of 1964. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1969, as a sergeant. Mark was always a friend and had kind words for everyone. He enjoyed fishing and loved his two grandsons. He will be missed dearly. Mrs. Indo was born October 29, 1922 in Youngstown, Ohio, daughter of the late Mary (Spam) Rothe. Miss Elsie Rothe and Alvin J. Indo were united in marriage at St. Michael's Catholic Church Rectory, Port Austin, on February 15, 1941. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before Alvin's death in 2001. Elsie was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Kinde. She worked at a factory in the Detroit area and farmed with her husband for several years. Surviving are one sister, Minnie Voss and her husband, Leo, of Ferndale; one brother, Robert Rothe and his wife, Anne, of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; mother, Mary Rothe; two brothers, William Rothe and Daniel Rothe; and one sister, Lillian Rothe. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at MacAlpine Funeral Home, Gage Chapel, in Kinde. The Rev. David Putz will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Monday and 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at New River Cemetery in Port Austin. Thecla "Tillie" Ventline Thecla "Tillie" Ventline, 92, resident of Kinde, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at Courtney Manor Nursing Center in Bad Axe. She was born October 8, 1911 in Grindstone, daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Jimpowski) Fisher. Tillie Fisher and George Ventline were united in marriage November 11, 1931. They were married for 68 years until George's death on November 1, 2000. Tillie attended Port Austin Schools. She was a parishioner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kinde for 70 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Holy Rosary, St. Mary's Alter Society, Daughters of Isabella, and Kinde Senior Citizens. She enjoyed playing bingo and euchre, watching the Detroit Tigers, polka music, and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are three daughters, Virginia Dropiewski, of Ubly, Helen Rifenbark and her husband, Ralph, of Bad Axe, Stella Gorkowski and her husband, Robert, of Filion; two sons, Clarence Ventline and his wife, Joyce, of Cass City, and Joseph Ventline and his wife, Sandy, of Columbus, Ohio; 23 grandchildren, Mary, Randy, Kathy, Darren, Chris, Rita, Sharon, Linda, Marlene, Mark, Duane, Dave, Carrie, Grace, Paula, Mike, Debra, Frank, Cindy, Jim, John, Susie and Joey; 42 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four sisters, Agnes Inda, of Port Austin, Helen Schramski and her husband, John, of Kinde, Josephine Kozlowski and her husband, Harry, of Port Austin, Florence Prill and her husband, Alex, of Port Austin; and several nieces and nephews. Tillie was preceded in death by her husband, George Ventline; three infant sons, Martin, James and George; and two brothers, Jim and Mark Fisher. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2004, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kinde. Fr. Mieczyslaw Oniskiewicz will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Kinde. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at MacAlpine Funeral Home, Gage Chapel, in Kinde. The Holy Rosary and Alter Society will present the rosary at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
