Damrow, 75, of Montevideo, Minnesota, and formerly of Vassar, died Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Barbara Lee was born May 20, 1928 in Flint, where she received her education graduating from Flint Technical High School. She married Arnold Damrow in Flint in 1954. He preceded her in death in 1996. Following their marriage, they moved to Detroit where Barbara worked as an administrative assistant for an insurance company. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Vassar. Barbara moved to Montevideo in 2001. Survivors include her brother, Richard H. Lee, of San Diego; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on May 1, 2004 at MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery in Ubly. Puvalowski, 47, of Bad Axe, passed away Friday, April 16, 2004, at Covenant Health Care- Harrison in Saginaw. He was born on January 1, 1957 in Bad Axe, son of Aloise and Lottie (Knoblock) Puvalowski. He married Loretta Maurer on November 11, 1978 in Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Smith Corners. Mr. Puvalowski owned and operated Choice TV and e-Choice in Bad Axe. He was a member of the Ubly High School Class of 1975, the NHRA and IHRA. He enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, NASCAR and was an avid drag racer. He is survived by his wife, Loretta, of Bad Axe; three sons, Dennis P., Gary and Steven Puvalowski, all of Bad Axe; his parents, Aloise and Lottie Puvalowski; his in-laws, Richard and Jane Maurer, of Ruth; one brother; five sisters; a goddaughter, Tricia Heleski, of Ubly, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. A mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Smith Corners. Officiating will be Fr. John Weis. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the church. A parish scripture service will be offered at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to the American Cancer Society. Thomas Watterworth Thomas F. Watterworth, 75, of Sebewaing, died Friday morning, April 16, 2004, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility. He was born May 13, 1927 in Wyandotte to the late Fred and Marion (Irish) Watterworth, and grew up in Chandler Township. Tom was a 1944 graduate of Elkton High School. He joined the Army shortly after and served in the Army Air Force during World War II. On August 31, 1946, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Dietzman at the Lutheran Chapel on the University of Wisconsin campus in Madison. When he returned to the area, he worked on the family farm for a time, then worked at the Wallace and Morley Elevator in Elkton for a number of years. In 1956, he began working at General Telephone and retired from the marketing and sales division of GTE in 1984. Shortly after retirement, the family moved to Sebewaing. He was a member of the Chandler Presbyterian Church, Caseville Eagles Club and Jean Posts #543 American Legion, Caseville. Tom enjoyed wood carving, lapidary (stone polishing) and especially Native American history and art. Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou; his daughter, Barbara Gielow and her husband, Bill, of Marlette; three grandchildren, Michael, Chuck and Mary; three brothers, Robert, of Venice, Florida, Alan, of Flushing and Glenn and his wife, Elaine, of Sterling Heights. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce and Richard. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 19, 2004, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Caseville. The Rev. Michael Quayle, pastor of the Caseville United Methodist Church, will officiate with burial in the Caseville Township Cemetery. (nee Burr) Halbert, 70, a resident of Caseville since 1993 and formerly of New Baltimore, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2004, at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. She was born November 14, 1933 in Detroit to Mrs. Eva Marie Burr of Howell and the late Louis Burr. She was a homemaker. She had many interests including writing poetry, painting and drawing, doing puzzles and going to the casinos and playing bingo. She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Halbert; children, Joseph and his wife, Tamara, of Macomb, Francis, of Rochester, Thomas and his wife, Barbara, of Chesterfield, Martin and his fiancee, Amy Rivard, of Port Austin, and Rachel Schultz and her husband, Robert, of New Baltimore; seven grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Eva Marie Burr, of Howell; siblings, Louis Burr and his wife, Barbara, Gary Burr and his wife, Karen, Richard Burr and his wife, Rose, and Laura Walters and her husband, Terry. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeanine; and one sister, Patricia Bradley. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at Gendernalik Funeral Home, 35600 Main Street, New Baltimore, Michigan 48047. Burial will be in Richmond Cemetery. Arnold Loss Mr. Arnold Carl Loss, 85, of Harbor Beach and formerly of Minden City, died Sunday, April 18, 2004, at Autumnwood of Deckerville after a short illness. He was born August 31, 1918 in Minden City, son of the late William Carl and Martha (Wendt) Loss. He married Eva Winifred Bustin on September 13, 1958 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Forestville. She preceded him in death on December 17, 1978. Arnold completed 8th grade at Linwood Country School. He farmed and also was employed at Farmers Elevator in Minden City for over 50 years. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Forestville. He was an usher for 66 years and was on the Board of Finance. Mr. Loss played softball for the Trinity Lutheran Church teams and was on the Bisnock Hardware Team. He enjoyed bowling for over 50 years on the Minden City Monday and Tuesday Night Bowling Leagues for various teams including the Farmers Elevator. Arnold enjoyed working at the Croswell Flea market and spending time listening to the Detroit Tigers, as he was an avid baseball fan. He loved most of all spending time with his grandchildren, his family and all his many friends and relatives. He is survived by one son, Walter "Skip" Loss and his wife, Katie, of Ruth; one step-daughter, Phyllis Whitney and her husband, Roger, of Ypsilanti; six grandchildren, Josh, Thomas, Lucas, and Kate Loss, Theresa Whitney and Michele Barnhardt; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Walter Loss; and two sisters- in-law, Esther and Vicky Loss. Laurie Roberts Laurie Ann Roberts, 40, of Palms, died Saturday morning, April 17, 2004, at her home under hospice care after a long illness. She was born August 19, 1963 in Detroit, daughter of Jeanette (Gardula) Fletcher and the late Norman Fletcher. She married Thomas Roberts on November 26, 1988 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Palms. Laurie was a graduate of Deckerville High School. She received a bachelors of education from Saginaw Valley State University and an associates degree in criminal justice from St. Clair Community College. Laurie was a high school English teacher. Laurie played college basketball and coached basketball at Houghton Lake High School from 1995 to 2000 and also coached basketball at Deckerville High School. She loved playing sports and reading. She was active in the ADAPT program in Sandusky. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Roberts, of Palms; one daughter, Celsey J. Tuesday, April 20, 2004 – No obituaries reported Wednesday, April 21, 2004 Rebecca Halasz Rebecca "Becky" June Halasz, 50, of Gagetown, passed away Monday morning, April 19, 2004, at her residence. She was born on September 25, 1953 in Cass City, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Keel) Creason. Becky married Joseph Halasz on October 14, 1978. She had been employed with Walbro Corporation for more than 28 years where she was an inspector. She enjoyed reading, sewing, camping and traveling. Surviving along with Joseph, her loving husband of 25 years, are their children, Thomas Halasz and his wife, Charity, of Gagetown, Janet Halasz, of Akron, and Brandy Halasz and her fiance, Jason Kzinowek, of Bay City; granddaughter, Cheyenne Halasz; brothers, William Creason and his wife, Jean, of Virginia, and Jerry Creason and his wife, Harriet, of Deford; sister, Nancy Urban and her husband, David, of Cass City; brother-in-law, Robert Church; and several nieces, nephews, and very dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Creason; and a sister, Janet Church. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2004, at Gagetown Funeral Chapel. The family has suggested memorials to the ALS Foundation or Alzheimers Association. Carl Nickel Carl H. Nickel, 84, of Deckerville, died Monday, April 19, 2004, in St. Mary's Hospital, Saginaw. He was born January 17, 1920 in Port Hope, the son of the late Herman and Louise (Detgen) Nickel. He married Miss Louise Williamson on October 8, 1949 in Palms. He was a lifelong area farmer. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He liked to hunt, fish for perch, travel and was an avid pinochle player. He is survived by his wife, Louise, of Deckerville; two daughters, Carol D. Roggenbuck and her husband, Clifford, of Port Hope, Marsha Nickel, of Deckerville; four grandchildren, Patrick Patten III, Amanda Roggenbuck, Clifford Carl Roggenbuck, and Justin Faber; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Nickel, of Bad Axe; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Nickel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday in St. John's Lutheran Church. Pastor Henry Malone will officiate. Clark, 90, of Bad Axe, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe, after a short illness. She was born on February 27, 1914 in Abilene, Texas, daughter of the late James and Ella (Dodson) Anderson. Jessie Anderson and Donald R. Clark were married January 12, 1944 in Abilene. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1991. She was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bad Axe, a member of the Huron Medical Center Auxiliary, and loved to spend time with her family and friends. She is survived by one son, Donald J. Clark and his wife, Joan, of Bad Axe; three daughters, Mrs. Linda Stahl and her husband, James, of Bad Axe, Mrs. Catherine Hanson and her husband, Jeffery, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Miss Cynthia Clark, of Gagetown; five grandsons, Dr. John R. Clark, Dr. Ryan H. Stahl, Jeffery D. Clark, Heath J. Stahl and Sean Hanson; one great-grandson, Seth H. Stahl; and one brother, Jerre T. Anderson, of Duncan, Oklahoma. Phyllis Pelton Phyllis Marjorie Pelton, 84, of Cass City, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 10, 1919 at home in Austin Township, Sanilac County, to Lloyd and Clara (Gibbard) Brown. She married Frank Pelton on September 2, 1939 in Pinnebog. He died February 13, 1975. Phyllis graduated from Cass City High School in 1936. She worked for Walbro for 27 years retiring in 1982. Phyllis was a member of Shabbona United Methodist Church and their United Methodist Womens group. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and flowers. She loved her family, friends and her cat. Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Sherryl Rich and her husband, Robert, of Deckerville, and Karen King, of Cass City; grandchildren, Connie Marshall and her husband, Bob, Jeff Rich and his wife, Anita, Brenda Warczinsky and her husband, Paul, Kevin Rich and his wife, Latisha, Kim Sangster, Kris Middaugh and her husband, Tim, Kara Heck and her husband, Kevin; great-grandchildren, Trisha, John, James, and Tiffany Dials, Michelle and Paul Warczinsky, Ryan and Michael Rich, Jason and Samantha Wald, Kyle and Nicholas Middaugh; great-great-grandchildren, Alexis and Joseph; brothers, Robert Brown, of Cass City, Clare Brown and his wife, Georgene, of Ubly, Keith Brown and his wife, Joyce, of Ubly; sister, Florence Dyett, of Tucson, Arizona; sister-in-law, Sue Brown of LaMessa, California; and many nieces and nephews. Young, 80, resident of Bad Axe, died at home Tuesday morning, April 20, 2004. He was born January 8, 1924 in Detroit, son of the late Sterling and Laura (Holland) Young. He married Donna Canty on August 7, 1976. She survives him. Richard served in the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with friends and family. Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Donna Young; daughter, Jill Young and her boyfriend, Jim Herber; sister-in-law, Barbara Young; step-daughter, Vicky Schweigert and her husband, Rod, of Bad Axe, Sharon Saivar, Pam Harrison, and Jessie Childers, all of California; step-sons, Robert Harrison, of East Pointe, James Harrison, of Sterling Heights; and many step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, John "Jack" Young; brother, Ralph Young; and sister, Betty Young. Cremation has taken place. "Beckie" Bouvrette, 74, lifelong resident of Kinde, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at Covenant Cooper Hospital in Saginaw following an extended illness. She was born December 30, 1929, daughter of the late William and Hazel Summerset. Beckie was married to Nelson Souva. Following his death, she married Floyd Bouvrette on December 30, 1976 in Bad Axe. Mr. Bouvrette preceded his wife in death in 1994. Mrs. Bouvrette was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Kinde. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, instant lottery tickets, and bingo. She is survived by several nieces, nephew, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2004, at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Kinde. Fr. Mr. Sutherland retired from Kamax L. P. of Troy in 1995. He is survived by his wife, Barbara E. (nee Wilber); children, Robert J., Jr. and his wife, Diane, Timothy M. and his wife, Donna, Elizabeth A. Bezenah; grandchildren, Amber, Daniel, Melissa and Nicole. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Gayleen Williams Gayleen Williams, 70, of Ubly, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2004, at the Sanilac Medical Care Facility in Sandusky. There will be no visitation. Private funeral services will be conducted with interment in Argyle Township Cemetery.
