Sunday, March 21, 2004 Stanley "Jim" Navock Stanley "Jim" Navock, 83, of Port Austin, died Friday, March 19, 2004, at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. He was born March 31, 1920 in Port Austin to the late Jacob and Angeline (Strozeski) Navock. Stanley and Susan Perdue were united in marriage on August 23, 1952 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin. Stanley enjoyed fishing and hunting pheasants and rabbits. Stanley is survived by his wife, Susan, of Port Austin; two daughters, Karen Collings and her husband, David, of Bad Axe, Lila Navock, of Port Austin; five sons, Jim Navock, of Port Austin, Derwin Navock, of Roseville, Gale Navock, of Port Austin, Jerome Navock, of Port Austin and Phillip Navock, of Florida; two brothers, Richard Navock and his wife, Theresa, of Kinde, Sylvestor Navock, of Port Austin; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; two sisters- in-law, Mary Navock and Sophie Navock, both of Port Austin; one brother-in-law, Relmond Ricketts, of Port Austin and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one infant son, John William Navock; three sisters, Gertrude Cheslock, Estella Shaddock and Theresa Ricketts; three brothers, Frank Navock, Leo Navock and John Navock. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin with Fr. Robert Pare, pastor, officiating. Donald Anderson Donald Glenn Anderson, 57, of Elkton, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 18, 2004, in Bay City Dialysis Center. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 2004, in Novesta Church of Christ with Chuck Emmert officiating. Interment is in Novesta Township Cemetery. Monday, March 22, 2004 John Crase John Harvey Crase, 66, of Deford, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, in Tendercare Nursing Facility, Cass City. Martha Wilcox Martha D. Wilcox, 62, of Deford, died unexpectedly Sunday, March 21, 2004, in her home. Tuesday, March 23, 2004 Marian Wolschlager Marian Louise Wolschlager, 64, of Bad Axe, died Monday morning, March 22, 2004, at her home under hospice care. She was born January 31, 1940 in Alpena, daughter of the late Thomas and Lottie Mae (Thompson) Keyes. Marian Keyes and Wilmer Wolschlager were united in marriage on July 22, 1961 in Alpena. They had been married for more than 42 years. Marian was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She graduated from Alpena High School. She enjoyed baking pies, gardening, watching country music television, crocheting, canning and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Wolschlager is survived by her husband, Wilmer; seven sons, Wilmer Wolschlager, Jr., of Bad Axe, Kevin Wolschlager, of Bad Axe, Curtis Wolschlager and his wife, Jamie, of Elkton, Anthony Wolschlager and his wife, Tammy, of Owendale, Duane Wolschlager and his wife, Mary, of Filion, Larry Wolschlager and his wife, Martina, of Pigeon, and Terry Wolschlager, of Pigeon; three daughters, Katheryn Wolschlager, of Bad Axe, Angeline Lampela and her husband, Douglas, of Bad Axe, and Melissa McDonald and her husband, Paul, of Dewitt; 14 grandchildren, Nicole, Brittany, Brian, Jesse, Michael, Kayla, Adriana, Brandon, Justin, Ashley, Ryan, Kyle, Cory, and Derrick; three brothers, Ken Keyes and his wife, Linda, of Clio, Arnold Keyes and his wife, Rose, of Lansing, and Roger Keyes and his wife, Terrie, of Alpena; one sister, Shirley Goodrich and her husband, Howard, of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. Barr, 60, of Caseville, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at Scheurer Hospital after a long battle with emphysema. She was born June 14, 1943 in Detroit to the late Morris and Katie (Bingham) Novick. On September 23, 1961, she was united in marriage to Thomas E. Barr in Royal Oak. In 1994, they moved to Caseville from St. Clair Shores and became very active in the Caseville Eagles and Auxiliary. Anne loved to play bingo and go on trips to the casinos. Surviving are her husband, Tom; three children, Michael Barr, of Lake Orion, Thomas Barr, of Royal Oak, and Sheila Blickendorf and her husband, Fred, of Goodrich; two grandchildren, Fred and Katie. In keeping with her wishes and that of the family, private visitation and services were conducted on Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel. Keith "Fuzz" Duerr Keith "Fuzz" Duerr, 76, of Ocala, Florida and formerly of Bad Axe, died Saturday, February 21, 2004, in his home under hospice care. He was born August 1, 1927 in Bad Axe to the late Carl and Cecelia Duerr. He and Viola Roehrs of Kinde were married on September 5, 1951 in Warren by her brother, the Rev. Edward Roehrs. She preceded Keith in death on September 27, 2003. Keith graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1945 and served two years in the U.S. Army in Biloxi, Mississippi. Upon his discharge, he went to work for L.E. Meyers Company in the Jackson, Detroit, Chicago, Illinois and Longview, Texas areas and two years in Saudi Arabia. He retired to Florida in 1988 where he enjoyed golfing and yard work. He also worked part time as a guard at Laurel Run Community. Surviving are two sisters, Elva Heyd and her husband, Clinton, of Baldwin, and June Edwards and her husband, Glenn, of Bad Axe; foster brother, Larry Essenmacher and his wife, Carole, of Vassar; three nieces, Bonnie Edwards, Sally Sloat, and Janet Staten; four nephews, Jim and Bob Heyd, Randy Edwards and David Essenmacher; and god-daughter, Tuli. Cremation has taken place and interment will be at Colfax Township Cemetery in Bad Axe. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2004, at MacAlpine Funeral Home of Bad Axe. She was born in Pigeon on May 15, 1918, daughter of the late William and Elizabeth A. (Krohn) Schumacher. On September 1, 1940, she was united in marriage to Marvin Clarence Garthe at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Berne. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1999. Mrs. Garthe was a homemaker throughout her lifetime and was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Berne. Her survivors include two grandchildren, Trisha Baareman and her husband, Paul, of Alto, and Philip M. Garthe, Jr., of New York City, New York; two great-grandchildren, Blake and Olivia Baareman; a special niece and family, Elizabeth, Allan and Melissa Liska; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Philip M. Garthe, Sr.; two sisters, Pearl Goebel and Marguerite Luedtke; and two brothers, Arnold and Arthur Schumacher. Gusa, Sr., 79, of Harbor Beach, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at his home following a short illness. He was born November 25, 1924 to the late John and Theresa (Regier) Gusa. Albert was united in holy matrimony to Florence Filipiak on February 19, 1949. He was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church. A vigil service will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home. William F. Jedele William F. Jedele, 84, passed away suddenly Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at Bay Regional Medical Center. He was born February 23, 1920 in Sebewaing. He was a member and past treasurer of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was formerly employed as an accountant at Autolite and retired from Saginaw Steering Gear as a tool and die maker. Mr. Jedele served with the U.S. Air Force during WW II. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling and was a very kind and fair person. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary F. Bauml, whom he married January 28, 1943, two daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara Evans and her husband, Ronald, of Bay City, and Joan Jedele and Jack Rueckheim of Freeville, New York; one son and one daughter-in-law, Robert Jedele and his wife, Jamie, of Greencastle, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; Kelly Shenton and her husband, Robert, Jill Smith and her husband, Chuck, Stephen Evans and his wife, Rachel, Leah Wines, Joshua Rueckheim, Heather Miller and her husband, Jeff, and Paul, Timothy and Mark Jedele; and two great grandchildren, Allison and Hannah Shenton. Thiel, 67, of Chandler Township, died Thursday afternoon, March 25, 2004, at Scheurer Hospital after a short struggle with lung cancer. He was born December 17, 1936 at the home of his parents in Chandler Township, Frances (Kleido) Thiel and the late John Thiel. Rich worked on the railroad as a young lad for several years before going to work for Yackle Brothers Tilling. In 1963, he went to Elkton and worked at Michigan Lumber Fabricators for 12 years until they closed. In 1977, he went to Huron Casting, Inc. where he was a Hi-Lo driver, retiring at 65. He was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon, and was very devoted to his family, taking care of his sister and mother at home until his health prevented it. Surviving are his mother, Francis Thiel, of Bad Axe; his sister, Mary Jean Thiel, of Bad Axe. A funeral mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2004, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. The Rev. Fr. John Weis and Sr. Theresa Fox will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. A parish vigil service will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Elkton. Walter Zmierski Mr. Walter Zmierski, 74, of Cass City, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at his son Michael's home in Elkland Township. Walter was born March 21, 1930 in Detroit, son of John and Cecelia (Kuczkowska) Zmierski. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a laborer for General Cable, retiring in 1992. In 1955, he married Evelyn Gabler. Walter was a member of the D.A.V. Atomic War Veterans and the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his sons, Michael and his wife, Deb, of Cass City, and Mark and his wife, Becky, of Caro; daughters, Angela Noble and her husband, Craig, of Charleston, South Carolina. and Teresa Enos and her husband, John, of Elk City, Idaho, and Deanne Brown and her husband, Chuck, of Midland; 15 grandchildren; special friend, Florence Byarski. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Joseph, Sylvester, Edward, Casimer, Chester and John; sisters, Helen, Jennie, and Eleanor Doerr.
