Finkbeiner, 92, of Sebewaing, died Thursday evening, November 18, 2004, at Bay Regional Medical Center in Bay City following a brief illness. She was born October 20, 1912 in Sebewaing, daughter of the late Wilhelm and Margaret (Myers) Roemer. She was united in marriage to Charles Finkbeiner on February 16, 1935 in Kilmanagh. He preceded her in death on November 7, 1995. Frieda was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She loved doting on her grandchildren. Surviving are one son, Ronald Finkbeiner and his wife, Marjorie, of Sebewaing; one daughter, Nina Finkbeiner, of Warren; one grandson, William Finkbeiner; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Roemer and his wife, Ruth, of Sebewaing; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Roemer, of Sebewaing, Marie Roemer, of Detroit; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Edwin, Herbert, John and Rudolph Roemer; two sisters, Meta Stauffer, and Esther Roemer; and one great-great-granddaughter. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2004, at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. The Rev. Daniel Hahn will officiate with burial in Silverlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. on Monday until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Debt Retirement Fund or the American Kidney Foundation. Everett Green Everett E. Green, 94, of Bad Axe, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2004, at Courtney Manor Nursing Home. He was born on March 21, 1910 in Port Hope, son of the late William and Ethel (Glan) Green. He was united in marriage to Gladys Armstead on May 3, 1933 in Port Hope. Mr. Green was a lifelong resident of Huron County. He was a member of the Redman Methodist Church. He was a farmer and repaired and painted automobiles. He enjoyed watching television, going to the movies, and visiting with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Gladys, of Bad Axe; one son, William E. Green and his wife, Maxine, of Sandusky; one daughter, Joyce Friedland and her husband, Willet, of Port Hope; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Schultz, and her husband, Herman. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2004, at MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Officiating will be the Rev. Jan Dykshoorn, pastor. Burial will be in the Marquardt Cemetery in Port Hope. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the MacAlpine Funeral Home. Monday, November 22, 2004 – No obituaries reported Tuesday, November 23, 2004 Scott L. "Smiley" Claerhout Scott L. "Smiley" Claerhout, 39, of Carrollton, Missouri,. and formerly of Reese and Unionville died unexpectedly Friday, November 19, 2004, in Carrollton, Missouri. He was born September 23, 1965 in Bay City, son of Marilyn (Lehner) Claerhout and the late Larry J. Claerhout. He was a 1984 graduate of Unionville-Sebewaing Area High School and later graduated from Kirkland Community College. Scott served in the U.S. Army and then served in various communities as a police officer in Michigan and Missouri. He was united in marriage to Tammy Newton on November 14, 2003 in Carrollton, Missouri. He was a member of the Catholic faith. Surviving are his wife, Tammy Claerhout, of Carrollton, Missouri; four step-children, Terry, Iloe, Wade and Christian; his mother and father, Marilyn and Howard Holt; sister, Elicia Hill and her husband, Steven; brother, Guy Holt and his wife, Jennifer; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Madiline Jaynes, Charles Lehner, and Lawrence and Maxine Claerhout. Scott will be greatly missed by many friends and loved ones both in Michigan and Missouri. The memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 26, 2004, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing. Fr. John Weis will officiate with interment in the church cemetery. The family will accept friends at the church from 10 a.m. on Friday until the time of service. Memorials may be made to The Family Discretionary Fund, Hospice or Special Olympics. Wednesday, November 24, 2004 Joyce A. Deichmann Joyce A. Deichmann, 74, of Bad Axe, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at her home in Sheridan Township under hospice care. She was born on May 17, 1930 in Sheridan Township, daughter of the late John and Sarah (McClellan) McIntyre. She married Donald F. Deichmann on February 23, 1952 in St. Columbkille Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on December 25, 2003. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe where she was active in the Lutheran League. She was a registered nurse and had worked for Hubbard-Huron Memorial Hospital from 1952-1989. She was an OR Supervisor for 25 years at Huron Memorial Hospital and helped establish the Candy Stripers program. She was also a member of the Huron District Michigan Nurses Association. She is survived by four daughters, Ann James and her husband, David, of Chesaning, Kay Malzahn, of Saginaw, Donna Edick and her husband, Aldon, of Rockford, Nancy Steadman and her husband, Pat, of Fremont, California; two brothers, Duncan McIntyre and his wife, Elva, of Ubly, Malcolm McIntyre, of Sebewaing; one special sister-in-law, Anita Gettel, of Pigeon; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Matthew, Neil, Angus, and John McIntyre; three sisters, Catherine Quigley, Florence Rowda, and Genevieve Corrigan. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2004, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe. Officiating will be Mr. Ray Sting. Interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Suida, 94, of Harbor Beach, passed away Monday, November 22, 2004, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Born in Harbor Beach on September 17, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Emma (Mausolf) Siemen. Gladys and Henry Suida were united in marriage on February 10, 1934 in Detroit. Henry preceded her in death on November 12, 1978. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach and the Altar Society. Gladys enjoyed her flowers, dancing and playing cards. She was a former cook for the OLLH Catholic School. Surviving are her children, Joan Hunsanger and her husband, William, of Forestville, Jean Margulski and her husband, Richard, of Troy, Wayne Suida and his wife, Lynn, of Detour Village, Mary Hiller and her husband, Raymond, of Kinden, Tennessee, and Gary Suida and his wife, Jane, of Harbor Beach; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Tschirhart, of Harbor Beach, and Irene Kramer, of St. Clair Shores. She was preceded in death by five grandchildren; a brother, Herb Siemen; and a sister, Helen Lawrence. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2004, in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, Harbor Beach, with Fr. T.J. Fleming officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A parish vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday in the Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor Beach. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday at the church. John C. "Jack" Thede John C. "Jack" Thede, 72, of Sebewaing, died Tuesday morning, November 23, 2004, at his home following a brief illness. He was born December 19, 1931 in Bay City, son of the late Otto H. and Florence E. (Liken) Thede. He was united in marriage to Verna E. Diebel on April 14, 1952 in Sebewaing. She preceded him in death on September 24, 1989. Jack had been employed at the Sebewaing Brewing Company, the Michigan Sugar Company in Sebewaing and later at Bay City Chevrolet for 28 years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Sebewaing V.F.W. Post #4115, the Sebewaing American Legion Post #293, and the National Turkey Federation. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are three daughters, Sandra E. Irion and her husband, Tim, of Sebewaing, Kathie L. Kuhl and her husband, Rodney, of Chesaning, Patti A. Gremel and her husband, Steve, of Bay Port; daughter-in-law, Donna L. (Bach) Thede, of Bay Port; 12 grandchildren; one brother, William B. Thede and his wife, Karen, of Harbor Beach; three nephews; two nieces and special friend, Mabel Herman, of Sebewaing. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael J. Thede, on July 8, 2004. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 26, 2004, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel Hahn will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and from 3 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. He will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. There will be a military graveside committal service conducted at the cemetery under the auspices of the Sebewaing V. F. W. Post #4115 and the Sebewaing American Legion Post #293. Thursday, November 25, 2004 – Thanksgiving Day Holiday Friday, November 26, 2004 Erwin A. Kaeding Erwin A. Kaeding, 93, of Unionville, died Thursday, November 25, 2004, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born on April 28, 1911 in Tigertown, Wisconsin, son of the late Rudolph and Ernestine (Barke) Kaeding. He moved to Michigan in 1933. He was united in marriage to Laura Bauer on November 8, 1958 in Sebewaing. She preceded him in death on December 8, 2002. Erwin was a farmer in the Unionville area for many years. After retiring from farming, he was employed for 10 years at Tietz Nursery in Sebewaing. He also worked at the Michigan Sugar Company during the campaigns. He was a very inventive person and loved to make many things out of wood with his hands. He also was an avid gardener. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville. Surviving are one sister, Irma Sbresny, of Reese; several nieces and nephews and their spouses, Ernest and Arlene Sbresny, Jr., of Sebewaing, Diane and Stanford Draher, of Reese, Geraldine and Richard Leidlein, of Indiana, and Janice and William Dobbs, of Holland; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Adeline Page and Clara Kaeding; one brother William Kaeding; and one nephew, David Sbresny. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2004, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville. The Rev. Michael Allen will officiate with burial in Silverlawn Cemetery in Sebewaing. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. He will lie in state at the church from noon until the time of service on Monday. Sternberg, 88, of Bad Axe, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2004, at Covenant-Harrison Healthcare in Saginaw.
