Cregeur, 86, of Harbor Beach, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2004, at his home with hospice care and his family at his side. Born in Harbor Beach on Janirary 14, 1918, he was the son of the late Arthur and Margaret (Mousseau) Cregeur. Jim was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in Italy. On April 22, 1947, Jim and Ina Mae Wilson were united in marriage in Harbor Beach. Jim was always interested in making music. At the age of 12, he began learning to play various instruments and continued to play trumpet, fiddle and bass viol while he was in the Army Band at Camp Grant. He played in various orchestras in the area and had his own orchestra, the Jimmy Cregeur Orchestra, which played at many events in the area. He was a former employee of the Harbor Beach Community Schools, working at the Community House and was a carpenter. Jim was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach, the VFW Post No. 9344, and the American Legion Post No. 197 of Harbor Beach. He is survived by his wife, Ina Mae Cregeur, of Harbor Beach, and his children: Margaret Landra and her husband, James, of Garden City, Arthur Cregeur and his wife, Debbie, of Harbor Beach, Laura Bresky and her husband, Marvin, of Imlay City, Clark Cregeur and his wife, Shirley, of Harbor Beach, Susan Blake and her husband, Joe, of Romeo, and Kevin Cregeur and his wife, Jackie, of Bad Axe; 10 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Cregeur and his wife, Dorothy, of Caro, and Bernard Cregeur and his wife, Geneva, of Westland; a sister-in-law, Victoria Wilson, of Harbor Beach. Jim was preceded in death by a brother, William Cregeur, and three sisters, Bernice Klump, Luella Howard, and Theresa Poineau. Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2004, at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, Harbor Beach, with Fr. T. J. Fleming officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Grant, 51, of Saginaw, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw following a long illness. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2004, in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with Debra L. Kranz, funeral service celebrant, officiating. "Happy" Heckman, 93, of Grand Blanc and formerly of Sebewaing, passed away Saturday morning, October 30, 2004, following a brief illness. He was born October 26, 1911 in Pigeon, son of the late Anthony and Amelia (Herzog) Heckman. He was united in marriage to Frances E. McCarthy on March 23, 1942 in Sayer, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on June 6, 1987. Ray had been an operating engineer in construction for many years before retiring. He was a former member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing. He was a member of the Sebewaing American Legion Post No. 293. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He is survived by one son, one daughter and their spouses, Thomas Heckman and his wife, Peggy, of Grand Blanc; Louise Greenwald and her husband, Charles, of Livonia; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Martyne Clifford; one granddaughter, Deborah; one brother, Arnold Heckman, and three sisters, Margaret Harrison, Irene Russell and Lt. Col. Edna Heckman. Neuman, 89, of Sebewaing, passed away on Saturday morning, October 30, 2004, at the Carriage House in Bay City following a one-year illness. She was born April 7, 1915 in Sebewaing, daughter of the late Adolph and Anna (Gall) Neuman. Ruth had been employed as a clerk at the former Myers & Reidel Dry Goods Store in Sebewaing for 40 years before retiring in 1978. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and had sung in the choir for many years. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters, Walter, Albert, and Edgar Neuman, Thelma Neuman, Ester Scheiwe, and Elsie Baur. "Cobie" Hoekstra Jacoba P. "Cobie" Hoekstra, 58, of Elkton, died Saturday afternoon, October 30, 2004, at her home while under hospice care. She was born December 11, 1945 in Amsterdam, Netherlands to Jacoba (Hoogernan) Hoekstra and the late Richard Hoekstra. On December 21, 1983, she was united in marriage to Jack L. Batchelor in Wayne and moved to Elkton in the early '90s. Cobie was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, Caseville. Surviving are her husband, Jack; two children, Richard Lamey and his wife, Tracey, of Walled Lake and Tammy Lamey, of Dearborn; two step-sons, Phillip and Anthony Batchelor, of Bedford, Indiana; her mother, Jacoba Hoekstra, of Chatham, Ontario; her grandson, Robert; and her sister, Merion Luke and her husband, Jack, of Bedford, Indiana. She was born August 25, 1911 in Sebewaing, daughter of the late John and Emma (Weidner) Rieman. She was united in marriage to Aaron Mueller on May 11, 1933 in Sebewaing. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1963. Alma was a member of New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. She was an avid gardener and loved to bake. Surviving are one sister-in-law, Adella Rieman, of Sebewaing; several nieces and nephews, Michael Kunisch and his wife, Linda, Karen Podsiadlik and her husband, Kevin, all of Sebewaing, Lucille Carver and her husband, Richard, of Swartz Creek, Don Collison and his wife, Georgia, and Wally Rieman, all of Reed City, Duane Rieman and his wife, LoAnn, of Sebewaing; many great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Roggenbuck, 102, of Harbor Beach near Helena, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2004, at her home in Sherman Township. Born on April 2, 1902 in Sand Beach Township, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Bischer) Holdwick. Magdalene attended Ferris Institute in Big Rapids and taught in rural schools in Huron County for six years. On June 15, 1927, Magdalene and Henry Roggenbuck were united in marriage in St. Anthony's Church in Helena. She and her husband spent their married life on a farm in Sherman Township. Henry preceded her in death on March 4, 1978. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Altar Society and enjoyed quilting, especially doing baby quilts. She is survived by four daughters, Mary June Roggenbuck, of Harbor Beach, Evelyn Stein and her husband, Roy, of Harbor Beach, Sr. Margaret Ann Roggenbuck OP, of Port Austin, and Jean Merkler, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and seven sons, William and his wife, Rosemary, Barthol and his wife, Eleanor, Robert and his wife, Linda, Michael and his wife, Patricia, John and his wife, Linda, all of Harbor Beach, Joseph, of Blacksburg, Virginia, and Ronald, of Harbor Beach; 50 grandchildren; 96 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harry and James Holdwick, both of Harbor Beach. Magdalene was preceded in death by two sons; Gerald Roggenbuck, and an infant son, John; grandson, Randal Roggenbuck; a son-in-law, Donald Merkler; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Roggenbuck; four sisters, Beatrice, Margaret, and Marie Holdwick, and Stella Kramer; and by three brothers, Norman, Jerome, and Clarence Holdwick. Cassie Soberay Cassie Soberay, a former resident of Ubly, Los Angeles, California and Detroit, is survived by a daughter, Catherine Russell Ezell and son-in-law, Phillip; granddaughter, Pamela Turner and grandson-in-law, Michael; one grandson, John Grifka; one great- grandson, Mitchell Turner; and sister, Helen McBride. She was born August 29, 1912, in Detroit. Cassie, with per parents and younger sister, moved from Detroit to Ubly when Cassie was 8-years-old. She and her sister attended Ubly High School. After high school, Cassie managed a small store. She also worked at a defense plant in Detroit. She truly earned the name "Rosie the Riveter". Cassie married Frank Szalwinski in 1946. They had one daughter, Catherine. Cassie married Emil Soberay in 1952. Cassie worked at the Huron Memorial Hospital until retirement. After retirement she worked as an in- home physical therapist. Cassie was a writer who had many of her poems published locally and nationally. She also volunteered her time visiting the residents at the local nursing homes. Cassie has been a Christian Mother since 1954 at St. Monica, Circle 2. Preceding Cassie in death are her husband, Emil Soberay; parents, Casimer and Katherine Odwazny, who immigrated from Poland/Russia in the early 1900's; brothers, Casimer, four-years-old, Walter, two-years-old; and sister, Stephanie, one-year-old. Her family is extremely grateful for her love, kindness, caring and nurturing. Although we will miss her so very much, we are comforted in knowing the angels have brought her home to the Lord she so loved her entire life. Our tears will soon be replaced by the wonderful memories she left for all of us as a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. He was born on February 24, 1930 in Lincoln Township, son of the late John and Mary (Prill) Vigenski. Mr. Vigenski had worked at the Kinde Elevator and had been with the Solo Corporation for 30 years. He attended St. Symphorosah Parish in Chicago. He is survived by two brothers, Ralph Vigenski and his wife, Sheila, of Chesapeake, Virginia, Eldon Vigenski and his wife, Delores, of Vassar; two sisters, Edna Horetski and her husband, Richard, of Port Austin, Alma Goss, of Chicago, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. She was born November 10, 1917 in Huron County, daughter of the late Alonzo and Dorothy (Mellendorf) Swick. She was united in marriage to Milden G. Albrecht on November 8, 1952 in Owendale. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2001. Neva had been employed at Automotive Industries in Owendale for several years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linkville. She was an avid gardener and loved to sew. Damore, 77, of Caseville and formerly of Sterling Heights, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2004, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. He was born in Detroit on June 29, 1927, son of the late John and Frances (Aiello) Damore, and served with the National Guard for three years prior to serving with the United States Air Force from 1946 to 1947. On July 22, 1950, he was united in marriage to Audrey Mae Myers in Centerline. She survives him. Mr. Damore worked in sales and service for Caterpillar, Modern Handling Equipment, and Bell Fork Lift, Incorporated. He enjoyed fishing and golfing, but especially his grandchildren and grandbabies. In addition to Audrey, his wife of more than 54 years, he is survived by a son, Michael Damore and his wife, Lynne, of Sterling Heights; two daughters, Sheryl Lee Borninski and her husband, Daniel, of Troy, and Pamela Jean Maas and her husband, Duane, of Caro; seven grandchildren, Christopher Stahl, Amy Warwick and her husband, Wayne, Zachary Maas, Jodi Damore, Jeremy Damore, Tracy Rowlett and his wife, Judy, and Katelyn Borninski; one great-grandson, Tyler Warwick; a brother, Dominic Damore of Warren; several nieces and nephews; and a special aunt, Emma Aiello, of Wixom. Thursday, November 4, 2004 Kenneth Forth Kenneth Forth, 76, of Port Austin, died Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. He was born on April 17, 1928 in Detroit, son of the late Elmer and Edna (Sterner) Forth. Kenneth married Ardath Kawsky on June 30, 1951 at St. Clare of Montefalco in Grosse Pointe Park. Kenneth moved to Port Austin in 1988 after retiring from Lion Products in Warren. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Occupation Force of Japan during World War II. Kenneth was a member of the Lutheran Fraternity of American 57, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and of the U & I Club where he served on the board of directors for many years. He was an avid card player and especially enjoyed playing euchre. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Ardath, of Port Austin; six children, Mark Forth, of Troy, Ellen Kauffman, of East China, Lauren Stangl and her husband, Jurgen, of St. Clair Shores, Karen Kalicke and her husband, Kevin, of Warren, Keven Forth and his fiancee, Connie, of Oxford, and Lynn Oliver and her husband, Paul, of Chesterfield Township; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsay, Trisha, Alisha, Jeff, James, Kyle, Chelsea, and Leah; and three step-grandchildren, Jason, Ashley and Steven. He was born on May 11, 1927 in Port Austin, son of the late Jack and Gertrude (Yaroch) Knoblock. Jack was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin. He loved all animals especially his horses and his dogs. Jack is survived by his brother, Robert Knoblock, of Sterling Heights; two sisters, Marie Romes and her husband, Clarence, of Colorado Springs, and Joan Driscoll and her husband, Ed, of Dexter; two sisters-in-law, Louise Krease, of Port Sanilac, and Carole Krease, of Walled Lake; three aunts, Josephine and Genevieve Yaroch, both of Port Austin, and Christine Yaroch, of Marlette; his uncle, Louis Yaroch, of Bad Axe; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Wayes Catherine Frances Wayes, 88, of Los Angeles, California, and formerly of Harbor Beach, passed away October 9, 2004, from injuries in an auto accident. Born September 7, 1916, in Buffalo, New York, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Josephine (Krakowiak) Wazia. Catherine spent her childhood years in Harbor Beach and was a beautician in Los Angeles. Surviving are her sisters, Millie Spakoff, Jane Helm, and Helen Wencley; and nine nieces and nephews.
