Sunday, October 2, 2005 Howard Clark Howard Donald Clark, 75, of Bad Axe, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2005,at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. He was born on December 17, 1929 in Croswell. He married Carol Marks-Billot on July 24, 1993 in the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church. He worked for 29 years at the Prestolite Wire Company in Port Huron. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed motorcycles as a pastime. Howard is survived by his wife, Carol Clark, of Bad Axe; one son, Steve Clark; a daughter, Christina (Robert) Kretsch; two step-sons, Darin (Jennifer) Billot; Francis (Pamela) Billot; three step-daughters, Carol (Ed) Peters, Diana (James) Tanton, Frances (James) Russ; three sisters; four grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2005, at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Visitation will be at the Kaufman Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Monday until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2005 Marie A. Dunwoodie Marie A. Dunwoodie, 89, of Bay Port, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2005, in Courtney Manor Nursing Center in Bad Axe. Marie was born to the late Joseph and Mary (Rubenzer) Peil in Bloomer, Wisconsin on August 15, 1916. Marie was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. She also loved animals, especially her cats. She is survived by her children, Brian Dunwoodie, of Bay Port, Erin Dunwoodie, of Bay Port, and Lauren Fleming and her husband, Rick, of Filion; three grandchildren, Christopher Dunwoodie and his wife, Tanya, Tara Dunwoodie, and Amanda Fleming; and two great- grandchildren, Kylie and Madison Dunwoodie. Marie was preceded in death by a sister, Dolores, and Andrew Paulus. A funeral Mass for Marie will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2005, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Burial will follow on Friday at St. Paul Church Cemetery in Bloomer, Wisconsin. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today in the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home in Pigeon and at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the church. Clarence William Meissner Mr. Clarence William Meissner, 85, of Minden City, died unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, October 1, 2005. He was born October 18, 1919 to Frank and Emma (Winkel) Meissner. On May 6, 1944, he married Bernice LaMielle in Harbor Beach. Clarence farmed in Delaware Township all his life. He was a member of St. John Chrysostom Church of Forestville. For the past 25 years, he and his wife had spent the winters at their home in Lake Village, Nokomis, Florida. Clarence is survived by his wife, Bernice; his five children, Fr. Robert Meissner, of Bay City, James Meissner and his wife, Dorothy, of Minden City, Marjorie Anderlonis and her husband, Thomas, of Aston, Pennsylvania, Donald Meissner and his wife, Susan, of Marlette, Deborah Meissner, of Flint; 10 grandchildren, Sherri and Phillip Boyd, of Holly, Kristi and Paul Kline, of Holland, Jennifer and Scott Long, of Palms, Michelle and Dennis Krynicki, of Coopersville, Amy and Walter Kempczynski, of Collingdale, Pennsylvania, Karie and Kevin Steinmetz, of Aston, Pennsylvania, Timothy Anderlonis, of Arlington, Virginia, Andrea Meissner, of Sandusky, Shannon Meissner, of East Lansing, Erica Meissner, of East Lansing; 10 great-grandchildren and two more on the way, Ethan and Evan Boyd, Amanda, Jessica, and Joshua Kline, Christian Long, Emma Rose Krynicki, Brooke Kempczynski, Jacob Steinmetz, Olivia Anderlonis. Clarence is also survived by one brother, Walter Meissner and his wife, Betty; four sisters, Florinda Adams, Mildred Mette and her husband, Robert, Alice Sweeso, Bertha McCoy and her husband, Richard; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Peterson, Frances Mausolf and her husband, Earl; one brother-in-law, Brother Joseph LaMielle, SJ; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were one brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Geraldine Meissner; five brothers-in-law, Charles Adams I, Norman Sweeso, Vincent LaMielle, Roy Peterson, and Herbert Siemen; one sister-in-law, Mary Siemen. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2005, at St. John Chrysostom Church in Forestville, with committal following at St. John Cemetery in Forestville. Fr. Robert Meissner, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Bay City, will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today and from 1 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Smigielski Funeral Home on Cass Avenue in Minden City, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the church only. A vigil service will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may consider a donation to H.E.L.P. Inc. of Sandusky or their favorite charity. Ursula Nitzko Ursula Nitzko, 75, of Caseville, died suddenly October 2, 2005, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. Ursula was born May 27, 1930 in Pomehraen, Germany, to the late Arthur and Elfrieda (Marx) Kropp. She immigrated to the United States in 1952 settling in Detroit. She married Hans Wolfgang Nitzko, of Berlin, Germany, on October 27, 1955. Together they raised their family, living in St. Clair Shores then later in Romeo. Having had a cottage in Lake Township for many years, they moved there permanently in 1987. The past seven years they have wintered in Naples. Ursula was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Caseville and the Henderson Creek Club in Naples. She enjoyed knitting, crafting and especially gardening in her yard. Ursula and Hans celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a party on Labor Day at the Caseville Eagle's Club. Ursula is survived by her husband, Hans; son, Berndt, of Shelby Township, and daughter, Heidi Stricklind and her husband, Rick, of Livonia; grandchildren, Corine, Shana, and Jesse Stricklind, all of Livonia; and sisters, Gertrud Muëller, of Germany, Irmgard (Lonnie) Mallouk, of Florida, Laura Dorband, of Caseville, and Günter (Janet) Kropp of Metamora. She was preceded in death by her sister, Erna Bartsch. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2005, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Caseville, with Pastor Jim Nihiser officiating. Burial will be at Glen Eden Cemetery East in Macomb Township. Cook, 77, of Port Austin, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2005, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility. She was born April 28, 1928 in Detroit to the late Pauqula and Eleanor (Tarsi) Spinozzi. Mrs. Cook graduated from Henry Ford High School. She enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with family and friends. She is survived by one son, Tommy Perkins and his fianceé, Lois, of Warren; two daughters, Doreen Bint and her husband, Robert, of Port Austin, and Ann Parzion, of Detroit; a brother, Richard Spinozzi, of Flatrock; a sister, Dora Fucarelli, of Warren; seven grandchildren, Kathy, Tracy, Peter, JoAnn, Bobby, Michael, Monica (Kevin) Haag; and great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Nicole, Nattie, Connor, Caden, Kevin, Larry, James, Carlee, and Tommy, Jr. She was preceded in death by an infant grandson, David James Bint. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2005, at the MacAlpine Funeral Home-Gage Chapel in Kinde. Fr. Stanley Surman will preside. Memorials may be offered to the Family Discretionary Fund. Wednesday, October 5, 2005 Col. William L. McIlhargie Col. William L. McIlhargie (Ret.), 83, of Pinnebog, passed away Monday, October 3, 2005, at Northwood Meadows in Cass City. Bill was born to the late Archie and Vera (Merrick) McIlhargie on April 10, 1922 in Port Huron. He graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1940 and then attended Central Michigan University for one and a half years. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1942. During his tour of duty, he received the Purple Heart along with several other service awards. Lt. McIlhargie was a master navigator with nearly 5,000 hours of flying time. He flew 20 combat missions, totaling 90 combat hours in a B-17 during World War II in Europe and received the World War II Victory Medal. Lt. McIlhargie, at age 23, was a navigator on an AAF B-17 Flying Fortress when he was reported missing in action in Germany for 11 months. He obtained the rank of Colonel on May 16, 1969 and retired in 1970. Bill is survived by his wife, Jenny, of 59 years; three children, Beverly Arevelo and her husband, Hugo, of Half Moon Bay, California, Dawn McIlhargie, of Clermont, Florida, and Daryl McIlhargie and his wife, Shelley, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two grandchildren, Miles McIlhargie, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Meghan McIlhargie, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2005, at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Officiating will be the Rev. Luke Yoder, pastor of the Pigeon River Mennonite Church. Burial will be in the Colfax Township Cemetery with full military honors. Thursday, October 6, 2005 Mary Ann Di Lucia Mary Ann Di Lucia, 73, of Harbor Beach, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Port Huron. Mary Ann was born on September 7, 1932 in Masontown, Pennsylvania, to the late Joseph and Mary (Ostrowski) Petrusa. She married Rudolph Di Lucia on January 27, 1951 in Detroit. Mary Ann was an employee of Michigan Bell for more than 40 years retiring in 1986. She also was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, being a former president and organizer. Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Rudy, of Harbor Beach; children, Chris Di Lucia and his wife, Shannon, of Grand Rapids, Michael Di Lucia, of Lincoln Park, and Kimberly Gornowich, of Redford; two sisters, Barbara Gulowski and her husband, Bernard, of Tennessee, and Jo Anita Anderson and her husband, John, of Okemos; and six grandchildren. A funeral Mass for Mary Ann will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach with the Rev. T.J. Fleming presiding. Cremation will follow at Sunset Valley Crematory of Bay City. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Ramsey Funeral Home in Harbor Beach, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. Friday, October 07, 2005 Jerry Budzinowski Jerry Budzinowski "Jerry B" died Thursday, October 6, 2005, at his residence after a long illness. Funeral arrangements through the H. W. Weitenberner Funeral Home in Bad Axe are tentatively set for Monday. A complete obituary will be published in Sunday's edition of the Huron Daily Tribune. Eleanor Theresa Szostak Eleanor T. Szostak, 78, of Kingston, died Wednesday, October 5, 2005, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw. She was born February 12, 1927 in Detroit to Joseph and Mary (Filip) Bieszczak. She married Walter Joseph Szostak on July 9, 1955 in St. Michael Catholic Church, Wilmot. He died January 31, 1993. Eleanor was known for her great cooking which she shared through her wedding caterings. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and their ladies alter society. Her church was very important to her. Eleanor was called "Grandma" by 32 children, whom she babysat for over the years. She enjoyed cooking, was an avid reader and enjoyed word search puzzles. Eleanor was a member of the Polish American Club in Caro. Eleanor is survived by her children, Theresa (Rodney) Smith, of Cass City, Walter (Michele) Szostak, of Cass City, Cathy Szostak, of Kingston; 2 grandsons, Christopher Smith and Josh (Mary) Male; great granddaughter, Emma Male. Eleanor is also survived by special grandchildren, Allison, Wendy and Joe Walkiewicz. She is preceded in death by special grandson, Jonathon Walkiewicz. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2005, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Wilmot with the Rev. Reginaldo Salcedo and Sr. Riccardina Silvestri presiding. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery in Wilmot. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Kranz Funeral Home, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
