Samborski, 88, of Caseville and formerly of Florida and Tennessee, died at his home on Friday, June 3, 2005, while under hospice care. Frank was born September 12, 1916 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Andrew and Elona (Zachorcis) Samborski. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. Frank married Mary Lipin who died in 1969. He then married Edna Wilson who died in 1994. Frank was a milkman for Brickley Dairy in Detroit for many years and retired from Cross Manufacturing in Fraser. After retirement, Frank lived in Florida and Tennessee. He enjoyed traveling and fishing. He moved to Caseville in 2003 to be near his family when his health began to decline. Frank is survived by his daughter, Madeline Skikiewicz and her husband, Leonard, of Mt. Clemens; Norman Samborski and his wife, Joann, of Caseville; grandchildren, Tim, Elaine, Julie, Brian, Paul and Mark; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Anthony Samborski, of Mt. Clemens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; wife, Edna; sister, Katherine Drager; and brother, Paul Samborski. A Funeral Mass will be at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2005, at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville, with Fr. Ken Jaroch presiding. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2005, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Caseville. Memorials may be made to the St. Roch Building Fund. Mary Evelyn Yenglin Mary Evelyn Yenglin, 79, of Charlevoix and formerly of Pigeon and Lake City, passed away Dec. 13, 2004 at a Charlevoix area hospital. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2005, at the First United Methodist Church in Pigeon with the Rev. Margaret Passenger officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Reese, 20, of Bad Axe, died Saturday afternoon, June 4, 2005, from injuries received when his pick-up left the road and rolled over in Bloomfield Township. He was born April 25, 1985 in Bad Axe and grew up in the Elkton-Bad Axe area. Dusty was a 2004 graduate of Bad Axe High School. He and a friend had started a very successful carpet laying business, D"N"R Installation, shortly after graduation. Dusty was a friendly, fun loving guy who liked to shoot pool, swim and bowl. Surviving are his mother, Barbara Reese, of Bad Axe; sisters, Amy McAllise and her husband, Dan, of DeWitt, Debra Hughes and her husband, Jeffrey, and Penny Reese, all of Bad Axe, and Wendy Witzki and her husband, Mike, of Pigeon; a brother, Tim Russell, of Elkton; and six nieces and four nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at the Community Wesleyan Church in Elkton. The Rev. DeWeerd Smith, pastor, will officiate with burial in Colfax Township Cemetery in Bad Axe. Velta Lena Stock Velta Lena Stock, 97, of Cass City, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2005, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro. Velta was born October 16, 1907 in Kilmanagh, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Adams) Sonntag. On December 30, 1925, she married Earl A. Stock in Unionville. He passed away on September 12, 1976. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Velta is survived by her children, Harlan Stock and his wife, Helen, and Delphine Dillon, all of Unionville, Donna Schember, of Caro, Barbara Wald, of Cass City, June Markert and her husband, Sheridan, of Florida, and Connie Armbruster and her husband, Fred, of Jonesville; 24 grandchildren; 43 great- grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nira Stock; son-in-law, L.J. Dillon; sister, Mata Ludwig; and five brothers, Herbert Sonntag, Ora Sonntag, Ralph Sonntag, Elery Sonntag and Otis Sonntag. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at the Cass City United Methodist Church, 5100 North Cemetery Road., Cass City, with Pastor George Ward officiating. "Billy" Bucholtz, Jr. William E. "Billy" Bucholtz, Jr., 70, of Sarasota, Florida and formerly of Port Hope, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 5, 2005, after a long battle with cancer. Billy was born to William and Ida Bucholtz on October 30, 1934. He attended St. John's Lutheran School and graduated from Port Hope High School in 1954. For years he was employed with Henry Vroom & Sons in Detroit, as well as the Austin Meats and Everfresh Juice Company. He retired in 1976 and spent many, many years in Florida. Billy is survived by his children, Lorie Rusch and her husband, Steven, of Antigo, Wisconsin, David Bucholtz and his wife, Susan, of Clifford, Patricia Arnold and her husband, Larry, of Lapeer, Kevin Bucholtz, of Wausau, Wisconsin, Sherri Bucholtz, of Algonac, and Vicki Klieman, of Algonac; 12 grandchildren, Zachery, Melanie, Joshua, Eric, Ronnie, Justin, Steven, Christopher, Rhianna, Cheyanne, Ezekiel, and Isabelle; and four great- grandchildren, Cody, Natalie, Erica and Elijah; sisters, Karen Lemanski, of Port Hope, Constance Wilkowski and her husband, Dennis, of Port Hope; and brother, Gerald Bucholtz and his wife, Mary Ann, of Port Hope. Mr. Bucholtz was preceded in death by his father, William A. Bucholtz, Sr. and his mother, Ida L. (McKim) Bucholtz. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Herman, 83, a long-time Elkton-area farmer, died Monday morning, June 6, 2005, at Huron Medical Center following a massive heart attack. He was born September 14, 1921 in Bad Axe to the late Rev. Allen and Mabel (DeGroat) Herman. A short time later, his father was transferred to Washington state to serve at a church there. In 1933, the family moved back to Huron County where they bought a farm in Chandler Township. On December 3, 1949, he was united in marriage to Eileen M. Weidman at her parent's home in Winsor Township. They took over the operation of the family farm, retiring in 1989. While farming, Elmer also was an agent for the Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company until the company left the state. He was a member of the Elkton Missionary Church where he had served in many capacities. He also sang in the church quartet and choir for many years and had served as Chandler Township treasurer for more than a decade. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Eileen; eight children, Marie Bowen and her husband, Roland, of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania, the Rev. Barbara Coalter and her husband, Jeff, of Snowhill, Maryland, Allen Herman and his wife, Linda, of Filion, Diane Gundersen and her husband, Steve, of Bellevue, Washington, George Herman and his wife, Julie, of Linwood, Washington, Glen Herman and his wife, Kathy, of Clinton Township, Emily Turner and her husband, Steve, of Pigeon, and Hope Kosier and her husband, David, of Waldorf, Maryland; 17 grandchildren, Dr. Michael and his wife, Sara, Sean and Derek Bowen, Tara and Brooke Coalter, Justin, Joshua and his wife, Melissa, and Jordan Herman, Riley Gundersen, Grant and Rhiana Herman, Holly, Tiffany and Nicole Herman, Jesse, and Alex and Eric Turner; and great-grandson, Ethan Herman; sisters, Della Trudgen, of Pigeon, Lillian Williams and her husband, Willard, of Yale, Suzanne Schember, of Pigeon, and Mabel Herman, of Owendale; a brother, Paul Herman, of Pigeon; and sisters-in-law, Genevieve Herman, of Farmington Hills, and Doris Herman, of Cass City. Chapdelaine, 81, of Zephyrhills, Florida and formerly of Shelby and Filion, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2005, in Zephyrhills. He was born July 30, 1923 in Pontiac, the son of Andrew and Eva (LaFlamme) Chapdelaine. He moved to Filion at an early age and lived there before entering the armed forces during World War II. He served with the Army in the Pacific Theater. He came to Shelby many years ago, working as an artificial breeder. He also was employed at Howmet Corporation in Whitehall for 21 years. Mr. Chapdelaine married the former Esther Fuerst on April 15, 1961 in Port Hope. The Chapdelaines lived in Shelby many years and wintered in Florida. Mrs. Chapdelaine passed away in 1993. When he became ill five years ago, Mr. Chapdelaine became a full-time Florida resident. He was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Shelby. He had been a member of the Kinde VFW Post and the Shelby VFW Post. Mr. Chapdelaine is survived by his brothers: Albert Chapdelaine and his wife, Barbara, of Roscommon, Richard Chapdelaine and his wife, Leona, of Lachine, and Gordon Chapdelaine and his wife, Marilyn, of Gregory; his sister, Mary, of Kinde; several nieces and nephews; his sister-in-law, Gladys Chapdelaine, of Auburn Hills; and his step-son and step-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Eva; and his brother, Arthur. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Port Hope with the Rev. Greg Eilers officiating. Visitation will be conducted from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at St. Johns. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home, Shelby, (888) 216-9744. Dewane C. Lindland Dewane C. Lindland, 77, of Harbor Beach, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Autumnwood of Deckerville. Born in Amherst, Wisconsin on September 4, 1927, he was the son of the late Gilman and Anna (Johnson) Lindland. Dewane was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. On July 21, 1947, Dewane and Yvonne Soule were united in marriage. Yvonne preceded him in death on January 9, 2003. He was the former administrator of the Harbor Beach Community Hospital and was the former owner of the Gambles Store in Harbor Beach. Dewane was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Harbor Beach and former Rotary Club member. Surviving is a daughter, Sharon Miller and her husband, Wayne, of Laytonsville, Maryland; two grandchildren, Stephenie Lindland Hunt and Joseph Lindland. Dewane was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lindland. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2005, in the First Presbyterian Church in Harbor Beach with the Rev. Pottle, the dear mother of Beverly Skidmore and Frederick Charles (Karin Wells); the grandmother of Nancy (Don) Belmont, Donna (Don) Coleman, Mark (Elizabeth) Pottle, Michael Pottle, and Shelly (John) LaGuardia; the great-grandmother of Louis (Michelle) DeGrant, Neil Belmont, Lindsey (Robert) Weber, Neil Ernest Coleman, Kaylynn LaGuardia and Birgitta Pottle; and the great-great-grandmother of Jeniffer Alma, Abby and Emma. Symons, 66, of Bad Axe, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at the Huron Medical Center. She was born March 7, 1939 in Souletown to the late John and Catherine (Bruce) Itchue. She married David B. Hanson. He preceded her in death in 1981. Mary Itchue and Roland Symons were united in marriage at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on May 11, 1984. Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. She enjoyed baking, playing euchre, bowling, and visiting with her friends and family. She is survived by her husband, Roland, of Bad Axe; two sons, Dennis Hanson and his wife, Pamela, of Norfolk, Virginia, and Donald Hanson and his wife, Ivonne, of Torrance, California; two daughters, Anita McBride and her husband, Kenneth, of Caro, and Therese Faison and her husband, Scott, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; three sisters, Lorene Haldane and her husband, James, of Warren, Catherine Zoblocki and her husband, Jerome, of Clinton Township, and Helen Itchue, of Fraser; five grandchildren, Brian, Kari, Brandie, Quinn, and Autumn. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John "Bruce" Itchue and George "Don" Itchue; and one sister, Genieve Marks. Friday, June 10, 2005 Christopher Lee Altendorf Saturday, June 4, 2005, God in his infinite wisdom called Mr. Christopher Lee Altendorf, 40, to a beautiful and lasting place. He was born on July 19, 1964 to Mr. Robert L. and Patricia Altendorf in Woodland, California. He was raised in Thomasville, Georgia, where his fondest childhood memories were made, moving later to Jacksonville, Florida, as a teen. Chris had a successful career at Mazda North America, where he excelled in his work and formed lifetime friendships. Chris retired in 2000 due to declining health. Chris was an avid NASCAR fan, fisherman, and a true friend to all he knew. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Denise Werda; a son to be proud of, Christopher Altendorf; a beautiful granddaughter, Taylor Altendorf; his mother, Patricia Altendorf; grandfather, James Hallisey ÒPoppyÓ; his beloved dogs, Gabrielle, Sophia, Emily, and Ashley; a loving and caring medical team, other relatives, and many friends. Tomlinson, 80, of Port Austin, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2005, at the Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe following a short illness. She was born on August 31, 1924, daughter of the late Frank and Anne (Talbot) Tomlinson. She worked for many years as a caretaker at Broken Rocks in Port Austin with her father and had been a clerk at Mayes IGA in Port Austin. She enjoyed taking care of her pets, playing cards, working puzzles, and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Helen Tomlinson, of Bad Axe; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was one brother, Daniel J. Tomlinson; and two sisters, Dona Kincade and Violet Briggs. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2005, at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Garrett. Interment will be in New River Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. 8
