Sunday, March 13, 2005 Irene Radovic Irene Radovic, 89, passed away March 7, 2005, in Lakewood, Colorado. She was born on January 13, 1916 in Huron County. She is survived by her son, Nick; brother, Manly; sister, Harriet; grandchildren: Patrick, Shawn, Gordon; great-grandchildren, Deana, Heather, Meghan, Alicia, Jordan; and great-great-grandchildren, Mallery and Emma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick; sons, Gordon and Floyd. A celebration of her life is tentatively planned for June 18, 2005 in the city park of Cass City. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her name to the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Pensacola, Florida, Memorial Garden Fund. Kathryn Sophia Wilson Kathryn Sophia (Hansen) Wilson, R.N., 90, of Harbor Beach and formerly of Ludington, died Friday night, March 11, 2005, at Pennock Hospital in Hastings following a three- week illness. Kathryn was born to the late Charles F.W. and Christine Hansen on January 14, 1915 in Ludington. She graduated from Bronson Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1936. She married Howard E. Wilson in Palmer, Alaska in 1942 while serving in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp. Kathryn is survived by one son, Lt. Col. (Ret.) James M. Wilson, of Chantilly, Virginia; one daughter, Kristina A. Wilson-Rapson, R.N., and her husband, William, of Harbor Beach; one grandson, Paul J. Barber, and his wife, Michelle, and their children, Jackson, Ireland and Ruby, of Hastings. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, H. Elmer Hansen, and one grandson, Tyrone H. Barber. Cremation has taken place according to Kathryn's wishes and a service celebrating her life will be held at a later date at Grace Episcopal Church in Ludington. Memorial contributions may be directed to Eastern Huron Ambulance Service, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Dennis Gene Foote Dennis Gene Foote, 53, of Snover, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Port Huron Hospital in Port Huron. He was born February 2, 1952 in Deckerville, the son of the late Eugene and Hazel (Walker) Foote. He was a lifelong area resident and farmer. Dennis was a 1970 graduate of Deckerville High School. He is survived by his two sons, Jeromie Foote and his wife, Amy, of Howell, and Adam Foote and his wife, Amy, of Argyle; one brother, David Foote and his wife, Carol, of Ruth; and three grandchildren, Haileigh, Nicolas, and Alexander. Cremation has taken place at the May Memorial Crematory in Port Huron. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Sandusky with the Rev. Fred McDowell officiating. Pauline Mary LaBelle Pauline Mary LaBelle, 64, of Battle Creek and formerly of Sandusky, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at her home in Battle Creek. She was born October 2, 1940 in Bad Axe, the daughter of the late Matthew and Emma (Krease) LaBelle. Pauline was raised in Sandusky and was a 1958 graduate of Sandusky High School. She graduated from Mercy College and served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force and was a registered nurse. Pauline also worked for a time at McKenzie Memorial Hospital in Sandusky as a nurse. She also resided in Detroit and Kalamazoo. Pauline was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church and volunteered at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She is survived by her brothers, Thomas LaBelle, of O'Fallon, Missouri, and James LaBelle and his wife, Barbara, of Sandusky; one sister, Margaret Kauffman and her husband, Peter, of Royal Oak; seven nieces and nephews; six great-nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sandusky with Fr. Charles Hammond presiding. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sandusky. Louis Julius Musatics The Rev. Louis Julius Musatics, 89, formerly of Elkton, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005. He was born on July 4, 1915 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the son of Hungarian immigrants who settled in Elkton. Mr. Musatics left Michigan at the age of 38 to attend Fort Wayne Bible College in Indiana graduating in 1956. He was ordained into the ministry through the Church of the Nazarene in 1961. He pastored churches in Eaton, Indiana; New Haven, Indiana; Vicksburg; Milford, Illinois; Warren; Durand; Three Rivers; and Eaton Rapids. He was a member of the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene in Sturgis. He was employed by Wedel's Garden Center in Kalamazoo after retiring from the ministry. He moved to Granite City, Illinois to be near his son in 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sophia, and parents, Frank and Geselle Musatics. He is survived by his son and wife, Pastor Wayne and Sybil; grandchildren: Shari (Musatics) Niemann, Tami (Musatics) Bourland, Paula (Musatics) Petersen; great-grandchildren: Wayne Simons, Emily, Aaron, and Andrew Niemann, and Bradley, Brett, and Brock Bourland. Neeb, 79, of Essexville and formerly of Bad Axe, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Bay Medical Care Facility with her family by her side. Kathleen was born October 27, 1925 in Detroit to the late Benjamin Leo Simons and Catherine Osman. She married Ralph C. Neeb on January 2, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio. Mrs. Neeb was a member of St. Luke's Methodist Church of Essexville and a past member of United Methodist Church in Bad Axe, where she directed the adult and youth choirs. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women and Eastern Star where she previously served as Worthy Matron. Kathleen loved playing golf and bridge. She was Verona Hills Golf President, Leisure World Ladies Golf President, and Almac Lanes Bowling President. She also was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and Women's Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons, John Neeb and his wife, Maryanne, of Bad Axe, and Bill Neeb and his wife, Susie, of Frankenmuth; three daughters, Barbara Warschefsky and her husband, Jim, of Stanton, Kathleen Gettel and her husband, Rod, of Essexville, and Martha McMahon and her special friend, Fritz Crisler, of Ann Arbor; 17 grandchildren, Nick Neeb and his wife, Sara, Nathan Neeb and his wife, Brooke, B. Pabst, 78, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Moffitt Cancer Center, Research Institute in Tampa, Florida. She was born April 14, 1926 in Parisville, daughter to the late John and Catherine (Wruble) Parteka. She married Russell Pabst on June 25, 1949 in Parisville. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2001. Mrs. Pabst was a member of the St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church and Alter Society, Sanilac Farm Bureau and Red Hat Society. Julie Rounds Julie Rounds, 62, of Fort Myers, Florida and formerly of Bad Axe, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, in Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers. She was born on June 9, 1942 in Grand Rapids, daughter of Edmund and Myrtle "Maxine" (Beach) Korcal. She married Vern Rounds on February 18, 1961 in Cedar Springs. She was a member of the Cedar Springs High School Class of 1960 and a member of the University of Michigan Nursing School Class of 1970. She was a nurse at the Emma L. Bixby Hospital in Adrian and Huron Memorial Hospital in Bad Axe. She was also a member of the Red Hatters and she enjoyed traveling. Julie is survived by her husband, Vern, of Fort Myers, Florida; one daughter, Mindy Rambo and her husband, Scott, of Bad Axe; one son, Mike Rounds and his wife, Leslie, of Mount Pleasant; mother, Myrtle "Maxine" Korcal, of Bad Axe; one sister, Pat Hartson and her husband, Bart, of Plainwell; five grandchildren, Melissa and Tyler Rambo, of Bad Axe, Courtney, Carly, and Michael Rounds, of Mount Pleasant; and one great-grandson, Dylan Adams, of Bad Axe. Schram, 61, of Saginaw, formerly of Cass City, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 11, 2005, at his home. He was born on August 21, 1943 in Kinde to William and Dorothy (Stiles) Schram. Irvin served in the U.S. Navy and the Naval Reserves. After leaving the Navy, he worked for General Motors on production, where he had continued to work until his disability retirement. Irvin enjoyed collecting Elvis and Star Trek memorabilia. Irvin is survived by three sons: Daniel L. Schram, of Caro, James L. Schram and his wife, Kathy, of Cass City, and Wayne D. Schram and his wife, Janet, of Caro; three grandchildren: Justin Schram, Austin Schram, and Joshua Kenward; one sister, Linda Cooper and her husband, Keith, of West Branch; one brother, Leslie Schram; and several nieces and nephews. Soper, 80, of Bad Axe, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2005, at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. She was born on July 22, 1924 in Huron City, daughter of the late Charles and Nellie (Whaley) Wressell. She married Arthur Soper on April 2, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1977. She enjoyed searchword puzzles, crocheting, and craftworks. Ida is survived by two sons, Gary Soper and his wife, Mary, of Harbor Beach, and Brian Soper and his wife, Laurie, of Bad Axe; three daughters, Ellen Carroll, of Bad Axe, Marguerite Wagner and her special friend, Oren Emerich, of St. Helen, and Audrey "Kay" Cummings and her husband, Jack, of Bay Port; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Lottie Lillian Puvalowski Mrs. Lottie Lillian Puvalowski, 72, former Outstanding 4-H Leader, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2005, at her daughter's residence under hospice care. Lottie was born on September 27, 1932 in Kinde to the late Felix and Cecelia (Kanaski) Knoblock. She married Aloise B. Puvalowski on April 28 1951 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Port Austin. Lottie was described as "the lady who made work fun." She loved the outdoors and gardening. She was a leader of the 4-H Club Country Buddies for 20 years and loved working with children. She taught the club members quilting, crocheting, crafts, and needlework. She was recognized as "Outstanding" 4-H leader of the year in 1989. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Ubly since 1951 and St. John Christian Mothers Circle #2 - St. Monica's. She loved planting flowers, trimming Christmas trees, and making Christmas the best with decorations outside. She enjoyed bowling on a team and playing and babysitting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Monday, March 14, 2005 Bernard John Braun Mr. Bernard John Braun, 79, of Ruth, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Harbor Beach Long Term Care Facility. He was born July 31, 1925 in Harbor Beach to the late John H. and Mary (Holdwick) Braun. He married Fay Dore on November 17, 1947 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. Bernard attended the Pumpkin Center School. He hauled cattle for five years and farmed. He was a self-employed milk hauler from 1957 to 1995 and was a member of the MMPA. He also hauled water for a number of years. He was a lifelong member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and watching old westerns. Bernard is survived by his wife, Fay, of Ruth; one brother-in-law, Richard Dallas, of Ruth; nieces and nephews: Mary Hoard and her husband, Robert, Robert Dallas and his wife, Veronica, John Dallas and his wife, Debbie, Judy Blaine and her husband, Dave, Tom Dallas and his wife, Karen, Nancy Talaski and her husband, James, Pam Booms and her husband, Dale; 19 great nieces and nephews; and one great-great nephew. Viola Kohl Viola Kohl, 92, of Sebewaing, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Tendercare of Cass City following a lengthy illness. She was born on September 7, 1912 in Bach, daughter of the late Ferdinand J. and Anna (Wagner) Sting. She was married to Roland A. Kohl on February 11, 1934 in Bay Port. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1982. Viola was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bach. She enjoyed sewing, bingo, playing cards, and especially loving her grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Beatrice Hool and her husband, Larry, of Mayville, Norma Rabideau, of Gagetown, and Joyce Hagerman and her husband, Hugh, of Grand Blanc; one son, Larry Kohl and his wife, Sue, of Sebewaing; 15 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold "Barney" Sting and Norman Sting. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bach. Severance, 83, of Decker, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Hills & Dales General Hospital. She was born May 24, 1921 in Clinton County to David Lewis and May (Miller) Woodhull. She married Lloyd "Chic" Severance on August 24, 1938 in Decker. He died on May 30, 2001. Esther was a member of Shabbona United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers. Esther also enjoyed embroidery and working crossword puzzles. He was born January 3, 1919 in Sheridan Township to the late Minor and Muriel (Apley) Edwards. Minor was united in marriage to June Duerr on January 19, 1946 at the First Presbyterian Church in Bad Axe. He was a lifelong resident of the Bad Axe area. After graduating from Bad Axe High School, he served five years in the U.S. Army, where he served with the Red Arrow 32nd Division during World War II. Minor was employed by Detroit Edison as a serviceman before retiring. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 499 and VFW Post 116. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Bad Axe, where he once served as an elder. He was a football referee for the high school and junior varsity teams, secretary/treasurer for the ambulance service for 12 years, secretary of the Verona-Huron Masonic Lodge No. 365 for 35 years, a Bad Axe fireman for 35 years, a Little League umpire and president, BAHS Band Booster president, and a Verona Hills Golf Course board of directors member for 31 years. He served on the Huron County Planning Commission and Verona Township Planning Board, was a HAM radio operator since 1947, and was a Verona Township deputy. Minor is survived by his wife, June, of Bad Axe, Bonnie Lou Edwards, of Saginaw, Randy Glenn Edwards and his special friend, Carol Napolitano, of Utica, Juliene Edwards and Jillene Edwards, of Dearborn; sisters-in- law, Elva (Duerr) Heyd and Marie (Pawloski) Edwards; one brother, Larry Essemacher and his wife, Carole; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Winter; two brothers, Omer J. Edwards and Dornis Edwards; stepmother, Mabel Edwards; brothers-in-law, Keith Duerr and Clinton Heyd; sisters-in- law, Viola Duerr and Ethel Edwards; and one nephew, Mark Edwards. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the First Presbyterian Church in Bad Axe. Officiating will be the Rev. Jan Dyksboom, pastor. Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery in Bad Axe. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today with a Bad Axe Fire Department service at 7 p.m. and a Masonic Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m., all at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Kio, 55, passed away suddenly January 6, 2005, at his mother's home in North Wales, Pennsylvania. Michael was born October 26, 1949 in Bad Axe. He was the grandson of Pearl and Ike Dornbos (manager of the Black & Guggenheimer Pickle Plant until his death in 1964). He is survived by this parents, Virginia Markowski, of North Wales, Pennsylvania, and Basil Kio, of Boonton, New Jersey; his daughter, Michelle; two brothers, Thomas, of South Bend, Indiana, and David, of North Wales, Pennsylvania; one sister, Cynthia Scheer, of Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey; and five nieces. His final resting place is White Marsh Cemetery in Horsham, Pennsylvania. Wilbert E. Krueger Wilbert Earl Krueger, 78, of Harbor Beach, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2005, at his home following a short illness. He was born April 13, 1926 in Harbor Beach, son of the late Oscar and Loretta (Pochert) Krueger. On May 15, 1948, Wilbert married Betty Lou Learman at the First Presbyterian Church in Harbor Beach. Throughout their joyous 58 years together, they enjoyed numerous community social organizations and activities with their friends. Wilbert farmed for many years and was a rural mail carrier for the Harbor Beach Post Office for 33 years retiring in 1999. He was a faithful member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Harbor Beach, a dedicated member of the Harbor Beach Lions Club and served as an officer for many years, and he was a charter member of the Harbor Beach Jaycees. A devoted father, Wilbert attended many sports activities and continued to follow the Harbor Beach Pirates in many sporting events after his children graduated. He will be affectionately remembered by his friends and neighbors for his generous nature and love of life, as well as the fact that he was one heck of a Euchre and poker player. He is survived by his adoring wife, Betty Lou Krueger, of Harbor Beach; three children, Paul Krueger and his wife, Mary, of Grayslake, Illinois, Keri Green and her husband, Curt, of Livonia, Phil Krueger and his wife, Diane, of Owosso; daughter-in-law, Nancy Krueger, of Harbor Beach; eight grandchildren, Keith and Erik Krueger, Lynn Booms and her husband, Fred, Ryan, Sean, Collin, and Katelyn Krueger, and Alicia Davis; and by four great-grandchildren, Derek, Brenden, and Nathan Booms, and Zackery Clark. Wilbert was preceded in death by his son, Kurt Krueger, in 1983; brother, Melvin Krueger; and sister, Dorothy Krueger. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Zion Lutheran Church in Harbor Beach with the Rev. Mark Girardin officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Falls Cemetery. Wednesday, March 16, 2005 Harvey P. Krug Harvey P. Krug, 54, of Bad Axe, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 14, 2005, at the Huron County Medical Center in Bad Axe. He was born on June 6, 1950 in Royal Oak, son of the late Harvey C. and Doris A. (Boehling) Krug. He married Valorie Cart on November 11, 1978 in Warren. He worked as a police officer for various police departments. He was on the Upper Thumb Bowling League Board of Directors and past commander of the VFW 10th District. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam — "Get 'er Done" 24. He is survived by his wife, Valorie Krug, of Bad Axe; one son, Thomas Krug and his special friend, Kristine Halifax, of Forester; two daughters, Anne McFarland and he husband, William, of Cass City, and Dorothy Krug and her fiance, Chandell Simmons, of Kinde; one sister, Christine Neilsen and her husband, Charles, of Mississippi; five grandchildren, Ashley and Amber Krug, of Florida, Ryan Schmidt, of Cass City, Carlie McFarland, of Cass City, and Haylee Simmons, of Kinde; and two brothers-at-heart, Phil Dunstan and his wife, Debra, of Richmond, and Jon Sparham, of Waterford. Thursday, March 17, 2005 Rena Martha Kiehl Mrs. Rena Martha Kiehl, 89, of Filion and formerly of Bad Axe, passed away Tuesday morning, March 15, 2005, at the New Beginnings Adult Foster Care Home in Filion. She was born on April 19, 1915 in Bad Axe to the late Alvin and Harriet (Hebner) Shobert. She married Ernest Kiehl on October 9, 1934 in Bingham Township. He preceded her in death on August 5, 1993. Rena attended the Verona Elementary School. She was a homemaker all her life and worked with her husband on their farm. Rena is survived by one sister, Clara Schemacher, of Sandusky, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Alva Murray. Funeral services will be at noon on Friday, March 18, 2005, at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. The Rev. Ellen Burns, pastor of the Ubly United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Verona Township Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. King, 69, of Gagetown, died Tuesday evening, March 15, 2005, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born January 24, 1936 in Owendale, son of the late William and Gladys (Weilher) King. He was married to Janice C. Guillett on October 1, 1955 in Bach. Ron had been employed at Unisys in Plymouth for 30 years before retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bach. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, baseball, and especially fishing. Surviving are his wife, Janice; three daughters, Wendy Crabtree and her husband, Gary, of Wixom, Penny Widmaier and her husband, Charles, of Brighton, and Mandie Carr and her husband, Steve, of Ypsilanti; one son, Ronald King II, of Gagetown; six grandchildren, Erin, Amanda, Rebecca, Kimberlee, Carole, and Charles; four sisters, Erma Thompson, of Canton, Rita Powell, of Cass City, Marion Stein and her husband, R.B., of Birch Run, Eva Goslin, of Sebewaing; two brothers, Bernard King and his wife, Norma, of Pigeon, and Donald King and his wife, Sandra, of Beaverton; two brothers-in-law, Gilbert Guillett, of Wisconsin, and Robert Guillett and his wife, JaNel, of Texas; several nieces and nephews.
