Pottle, 93, of Dearborn, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2005. Ernest was a former letter carrier in Dearborn for 25 years. He was the beloved husband of Alma for 73 years; dear father of Beverly Skidmore and Frederick Charles Pottle and his wife, Karin Wells; grandfather of Nancy Belmont and her husband, Don, Donna Coleman and her husband, Don, Mark Pottle and his wife, Elizabeth, Michael Pottle, and Shelly LaGuardia and her husband, John; great-grandfather of Louis DeGrant and his wife, Michelle, Neil Belmont, Lindsey Weber and her husband, Robert, Neil Ernest Coleman, Kaylynn LaGuardia and Birgitta Pottle; great-great grandfather of Jeniffer Alma, Abby and Emma. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2005, at the Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Avenue. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service today. Memorials can be made to Kindering Center for Autism Research, Bellevue, Washington, in the name of great-granddaughter Birgitta Pottle. Charles H. Thuemmel III Charles H. Thuemmel III, 78, of Port Austin Township, passed away Friday, May 13, 2005, at Tendercare Nursing Center in Cass City. He was born April 1, 1927 in Port Austin Township to the late Charles H. and Elanah (Laughin) Thuemmel II. Charles married Helen Gould on October 8, 1949 in the United Protestant Church in Port Austin. Mr. Thuemmel was a longtime dairy farmer and also was employed at the Paper Roll Products in Port Austin, the Bad Axe Grain Company, and was a school bus driver for North Huron Schools. He enjoyed playing euchre, cribbage, and visiting with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Helen; two daughters, Susan Crissman, of Hawthorne, Florida, and Gail Zylstra and her husband, John, of Jenison; two sisters, Amy Sholler and her husband, Gerald, of Ellenton, Florida, and Patricia Thuemmel, of Lansing; two grandchildren, David and Sarah Zylstra; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte M. Thuemmel. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at the MacAlpine Funeral Home - Gage Chapel in Kinde. Officiating will be the Rev. Dave Freeland and the Rev. Robert Garrett. Burial will be in the Port Austin Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. on Monday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to the Port Austin United Protestant Church or the American Lung Association. Monday, May 16, 2005 Marvin F. Smith III Marvin F. Smith III, 34, of Sebewaing, died Saturday morning, May 14, 2005, from injuries received in a truck and all-terrain vehicle accident near Sebewaing. He was born February 20, 1971 in Ann Arbor, son of Marvin F. Smith II and Linda M. (Miller) Smith. Marvin was a 1989 graduate of Unionville Sebewaing Area High School where he played football. He attended Delta College and later served with the U.S. Army during the Gulf War. Marvin was employed as a private security guard. He was a member of the Sebewaing V.F.W. Post No. 4115; the Sebewaing Sportsmen's Club. He also had worked with the DNR as a hunter safety instructor. He was an avid hunter and especially loved fishing. Surviving are his mother and step-father, Linda Deeg and her husband, Robert, of Sebewaing; his father, Marvin F. Smith II, of Norfolk, Virginia; one sister, Jennifer Hanser and her husband, Kevin, of Oakland; one brother, Robert Deeg II, of Clawson; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. The Rev. Jonathan Meyer will officiate with burial in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. Post No. 4115. Tuesday, May 17, 2005 Sister Anna Marie Lorencz Sister Anna Marie Lorencz, 76, formerly known as Sister Joan Kathleen Lorencz, died at the Dominican Life Center. She was in the 54th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation. Sister Anna Marie was born in Wyandotte to Joseph and Mary (Hozsa) Lorencz. Sister graduated from Owendale High School in Owendale and received a bachelor of arts degree in English from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian; a master of arts degree in religious studies from Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island, and a master of Christian spirituality degree in Christian spirituality from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Sister spent 30 years ministering in education in Detroit, Flint, Southgate, Jackson, and Dearborn. She was coordinator of religious education for six years in New Baltimore and Mt. Clemens and diocesan consultant for religious education in the diocese of Ft. Wayne-South Bend, Indiana for six years. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2004. Sister is survived by a brother, Mr. John Lorencz (Althea), of Owendale, and four sisters, Mrs. Helen Smith (Alger), of Essexville, Mrs. Elizabeth Binder (Richard), Mrs. Nancy Prokopenko (Ronald), of Bay City and Dr. Kathleen Lorencz, of Beverly Hills; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Lorencz (Joseph); and brother-in-law, William Howell, all in Michigan. She enjoyed spending time with 24 nieces and nephews and several grandnieces and nephews and many dear cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by brother, Joseph Lorencz; sisters, Marion Howell, and Rose Mary Lorencz; and sister- in-law, Althea Lorencz; and brother-in-law, Alger Smith. A funeral liturgy will be offered at St. Catherine Chapel in Adrian at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2005. Burial will be in the congregation cemetery. Family visitation will be from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. and open visitation will be from 5:15 to 7 p.m. today in the Gathering Space of St. Catherine Chapel, followed by vigil prayer at 7 p.m. in the chapel. Neal Mary E. Neal, 56, of Bad Axe, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Autumnwood in Deckerville following an extended illness. She was born March 12, 1949 in Bad Axe, daughter of Thomas J. and Flora E. (Hubbard) Prill. She married William Charles Neal on July 23, 1979 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1995. She is survived by her parents, Thomas and Flora Prill, of Bad Axe; one sister, Betty Younglove and her husband, Bill, of Cass City; four brothers, Paul Prill and his wife, Gail, of Mayville, Raymond Prill, of Ballston Lake, New York, Alex Prill and his wife, Theresa, of Bad Axe, Edward Prill and his wife, Cheryl, of Bad Axe; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and friends at Autumnwood Nursing Center. She was preceded her in death by one brother, William Prill. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2005, at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Fr. Friday, May 20, 2005 Ted Roy Marshall Ted Roy Marshall, 81, of Cass City, died Thursday, May 19, 2005, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw after a short illness. He was born December 28, 1923 in Argyle to William Roy and Eva (Patterson) Marshall. He married Evelyn R. Kulish Reeves on May 12, 1978 in Deford. Ted served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in France and Germany. He worked for Wayne County as an ambulance driver for about 12 years. Ted moved to the Shabbona and Deford area and was a dairy farmer for many years. He worked for the Elkland Township Cemetery for 21 years until his retirement seven years ago, when he and Evelyn moved to the Davenport, Florida area. Ted enjoyed horse pulls and loved draft horses and antique cars. He enjoyed motorcycles, even owning his own Harley several years ago. Ted was a gentle soul who truly loved, enjoyed and appreciated his family and friends. Ted is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Theodore Marshall and his wife, Vicky, of Caro, David Marshall and his wife, Ruth Ann, of Cass City, and Judy Marshall, of Caro; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, Evelyn's children, Cheryll Thomas, of St. Clair Shores, Warren Reeves Jr. and his wife, Rebecca, of South Bend, Indiana, Kenneth Reeves and his wife, Joan, of New Baltimore, Debra Kauble and her husband, William, of Irvine, California, Denise Smiley and her husband, Scott, of Laguna Niguel, California, Cindy Dowdy and her husband, Gerald, of Ocala, Florida, and David Reeves, of Marietta, Georgia; nine grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Don Haviland, of Grand Ledge. Ted was preceded in death by his son, James Roy Marshall; granddaughter, Sandy Marshall; two great- grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and sister, Hazel Haviland. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2005, at Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City with the Rev. Greg Reynolds, district superintendent of the East Michigan District of the Wesleyan Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Cass City VFW Post No. 3644.
