Sunday, November 20, 2005 Emma Lehr Emma Lehr, 97, of Sebewaing, died Friday, November 18, 2005, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. The funeral service will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2005, at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. Burial will be in the Assembly of God Cemetery in Sebewaing. Monday, November 21, 2005 Robert Heck Robert E Heck, 83, of Pinnebog, died Sunday morning, November 20, 2005, at his home following a brief illness. He was born August 16, 1921 in Winsor Township at the home of his parents, the late Edward and Bertha (Weiss) Heck. He went to Detroit and then to Midland for a short time and returned to Huron County in the mid 1940s. On December 4, 1943, he was united in marriage to Helen B. Heck at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Linkville. In 1946, he and Helen took over the operation of the tavern in Pinnebog, renaming it "Heck's Bar." In 1960, they built the brick building that's there today, making a parking lot where the old one stood. In 1997, they retired turning its operation over to their children. Helen preceded Bob in death on November 15 of last year (2004). During the 51 years that he owned the bar, he had also worked at Rooney Construction for several years, was co-operator of the Pinnebog Elevator next to the bar, and was a real estate agent with Cash Cook Realty for many years. In 1977, he and several others opened the Copper Lounge and Bad Axe Lanes at the north end of Bad Axe. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Kinde, past president of the Michigan Beverage Association, Huron County Beverage Association, and was one of the organizers of the Huron County Health Department. Surviving are two children, Elizabeth Heck and Robert Heck, both of Pinnebog; his brother, Richard (Louise) Heck, of Cheboygan; two brothers-in-law, Emil (Catherine) Heck, of Ubly, and Herb Stark and his friend, Mabel, of Pigeon; and several nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be conducted at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Kinde with Pastor David Putz officiating. There will be no public visitation or service. The family has suggested memorials to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 5098 Dwight, Kinde, or Heartland Hospital, 1171 S. Van Dyke Road, Bad Axe. Condolences may be left at www.cfcElkton.com. Beverly Woods Beverly Woods, 75, of Port Austin, died Saturday, November 19, 2005, at her home. She was born December 21, 1929 in Detroit, daughter of the late Elmer and Anna (Batkwicz) Miller. Beverly moved from Detroit to Port Austin in 1957 and worked for the Reimann-Snyder Furniture Store in Bad Axe. She was a member of the Grindstone- Port Hope Sportsman's Club. She is survived by her son, Rusty, of Harbor Beach; one grandson, Jeff (Christina) Woods, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; and one granddaughter, Lee Anna Woods, of East Lansing. Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Port Austin Township Cemetery. Andrew P. Donnelly Andrew P. Donnelly, 99, of Cass City, died Saturday, November 19, 2005, at Tendercare. He was born October 7, 1906 at home in Vassar Township to William and Alice (Meehean) Donnelly. He married Hannah Gotts Neiman on February 7, 1948 in Cass City. She died November 13, 1973. Andrew then married Genevieve Danilowski Senbob November 22, 1975 in Palms. She died March 16, 1989. Andrew was a hard worker. He did logging with horses in his younger years and was a farmer. In later years, he was a caretaker of county parks. Andrew is survived by his step-children, Clayton (Donna) Neiman, of Freeland, Wilbert (June) Neiman, of Kansas; sisters, Jean (Fred) Summerfield, of Vassar, Ellen Asher, of Caro; brother, Charles Donnelly, of Sutters Creek, California; step-grandchildren, Melanie, Rodney, Randy, Mark, Mike, Rick, Jerry, Dan, Don, and Mary Kay; several step-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Ila Hunt; twin brother, Ed Donnelly; brothers, Pat Donnelly, and Dan Donnelly; sisters, Dorothy King, Jeaneth Pretzer, Elizabeth Kelly; and step-grandson, Tom. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2005, at Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City with Scott Mills, of St. Pancratius Catholic Church, presiding. Tuesday, November 22, 2005 Sara Christine Gwisdalla Sara Christine Gwisdalla, 17, of Ripley, West Virginia, died peacefully Saturday, November 19, 2005, at The Cleveland Clinic. She is the daughter of Gary and Jane Miller Gwisdalla of Ripley, West Virginia. She was born January 25, 1988 in Hurricane, West Virginia. Sara was a senior at Ripley High School, where she was ranked fourth in her class. She was a member of FFA, Rough Riders 4-H Group, Teen Leaders, Student Council, National Honor Society, MU Alpha Theta, and an AP scholar. She was a member of HOBY, where she was an ambassador and later a counselor. She loved horses and was a member of the Rocky Mountain Horse Association, Jackson County Horse Club, and also a member of National Horse Judging Team, where her team came in 10th in the nation. She was also a Viking Buddy. Sara was very community minded, and assisted in Relay for Life, Special Olympics, and Toys for Tots. In 2004, she was first runner-up in the Jackson County Junior Fair Pageant. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Nickie Gwisdalla of Ripley, West Virginia; a half-brother, Jonathon Graham; and maternal grandmother, Margaret Miller, and paternal grandmother, Joyce Gwisdalla, both of Ubly. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Harry Miller and Eugene Gwisdalla. A memorial service will be conduced at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2005, at the Calvary United Methodist Church, corner of North and Court Streets in Ripley, West Virginia, with the Rev. Charles Hicks officiating. Wednesday, November 23, 2005 Leslee E. Reed Leslee E. Reed, 59, of Bad Axe, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2005, at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe following an extended illness. She was born on April 13, 1946 in Lansing, daughter of the late Wesley and Beatrice (Richardson) Reed. She worked as a nurse at Sunny Acres Nursing Center and at Huron Medical Center for several years. She also was a Reikki Practitioner. She loved animals and her work in the emergency room and its staff. She is survived by two sisters, Doreen Barcelow, and Tamara Reed, both of DeWitt; a favored niece, Aimee Barcelow, of Wyoming; a nephew, Dominic Barcelow, of Lansing; a special friend, Clema Przemytski, of Bad Axe; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2005, at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Officiating will be the Rev. Friday, November 25, 2005 Beverly (Allan) Ball Beverly Ann Ball, 67, of Unionville and formerly of Caro, died on Tuesday, November 22, 2005, as the result of a traffic accident on M-24 near Akron Road. The former Beverly Tibbits was born on April 16, 1938 in Pinnebog and was an Elkton High School graduate. On June 3, 1955, Beverly Tibbits married David C. Allan, Sr. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1984. The Allan's moved from Huron County to Caro in 1965. Beverly was a cook until her retirement at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. On June 7, 2003, she married Norman Ball and they moved to Caro Street in Bay Park. She enjoyed people, was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Sutton-Sunshine United Methodist Church, and attended the Wisner United Methodist Church. She was very much involved in church activities, the choir and bible study. Beverly is survived by her husband, Norman C. Ball; seven children, David C. Allan Jr. and Shelly, of Caro, Pamela (Harry) Perkins, of Kingston, Debbie Robinson and David Block, of Deckerville, Terry Ball, of Sebewaing, Blaine Ball, of El Paso, Texas, Tim (Ann Marie) Ball, of Fairgrove, and Patricia (the Rev. Eric) Garlick, of Shelbyville, Illinois; grandchildren, Kim Vermeesch, Heather Ball, Sarah Ball, Jeremy (Kelly) Ball, Jason (Angela) Ball, Jordan Ball, Evan Garlick, Ryan Garlick, Rachel Garlick, Travis Parrish, Tiffany Parrish, Ben Boyle, Candice Boyle, Mike Boyle, Jr., Evan Perkins, Lynda Robinson, Mike (Rachel) Robinson, and Brian Robinson; eight great-grandchildren; five siblings, Bertie Lou (John) Worthington, of Middletown, Indiana, Lewis (Geraldine) Tibbits, of Sebewaing, Larry (Rita) Tibbits, of Merrill, Cheryl (Charles) Riley, of Constantine, and Kent (Beth) Tibbits, of Pigeon; and several nieces and nephews. Gerald Wojtalewicz Gerald Wojtalewicz "Jerry White", 66, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2005. Beloved husband of Loretta (nee Grifka) for 46 years. Loving father of Damian, Craig (Lynda), Terry (John) Hensler, Tracy (Drew) Zehnder, Kathy (Michael Norrito) Wojtalewicz, and Kristin (Kevin) Parks. Gerald has proudly served as a Detroit Police Officer for the past 42 years, but nothing had made him more proud than his family and his six granddaughters. Gerald was inducted into the Michigan State Polka Music Hall of Fame in October 2002 and was a well known musician in the metropolitan area. He was very active in his community belonging to the Detroit Police Officers Association, St. Lawrence Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree, St. John Neumann Assembly 4th degree, SNPJ Northern Home, Slovene American Club, Polka Boosters Cub of America, National Cleveland-Style Polk Hall of Fame, and the Elks Club Lodge No. 2544. She was born April 21, 1928 in Birmingham to James and Aura (Herr) Teague and Franklin John Stockwell. She married Bruce R. Sherman on October 6, 1945 in Novesta Baptist Church. Pat worked for Walbro, General Cable and Teales Restaurant in Marlette. She enjoyed collecting dolls, working crossword puzzles, traveling and reading and loved spending time with her family. Pat attended LaMotte Missionary Church.
