Sunday, September 25, 2005 - No obituaries reported Monday, September 26, 2005 Delbert Leo Krueger Delbert "Del" Leo Krueger, 60, of Decker, died Thursday, September 22, 2005, at his home following a short illness. He was born on December 21, 1944 in Cass City to Leo David and Evelyn Ruth (Cornell) Krueger. He married Charlene Ann Derengowski on April 8, 1967 in Cass City. Del graduated from Kingston High School in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Del was a lifelong dairy farmer. Del was a member of FFA throughout high school, a member of MMPA for 35 years and a member of the Farm Bureau. He attended St. Michael Catholic Church in Wilmot. Delbert so loved his family and friends. He loved working with his dairy cows and sitting under his magnolia tree. He was an avid Rolling Stones fan. Del is survived by his wife, Charlene; children, Robert (Michelle Yax) Krueger, of Cass City, Richard Krueger, of Mt. Pleasant, Jeremy (Jodi) Krueger, of Decker, Jenna (his "Little Dumpling") Krueger, of Decker; granddaughters, Samantha, Tabatha, and Savanna, of Cass City, Katelyn, of Decker; mother, Evelyn Krueger, of Deford; sisters, Joann (Ralph) VanStone, of Lapeer, Thelma TerBush (Fred), of Clio, Linda (special friend, Floyd Cargill), of Decker; brother-in-law, Gary Haebler, of Decker; brother, Ken Krueger, of Deford; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gloria and Bill Sattelberg and family, of Midland; honorary daughter, Angela Gruber; many wonderful neighbors. Del was another grandpa to Trysten. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo, who died on April 14, 1990. Tuesday, September 27, 2005 Sister Ann Margaret Binder Sister Ann Margaret Binder, 83, died Monday, September19, 2005, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born March 30, 1922 in Detroit and grew up in Kinde. Her parents, Frank and Martina Binder, preceded her in death. She was a Sister of Charity for 64 years. Sister Ann Margaret taught primary grades in Michigan, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Clearland and Cincinnati, Ohio for a total of 56 years. She spent 30 summers teaching "Glad Days" in her hometown, Kinde. In her retirement, she resided at Mount St. Joseph Motherhouse in Ohio. Surviving are her brother, Francis (Barbara), and six nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her nephew, Jon Binder. Funeral services were Thursday, September 22, 2005, at the Motherhouse in Mount St. Joseph, Ohio. Burial was in the Sisters of Charity Cemetery. Theophil A. Jantz Jr. Theophil A. Jantz Jr., 69, of Gladwin and formerly of Owendale, died Saturday, September 24, 2005, at HealthSource of Saginaw following a four-month illness, with his loving family at his side. He was born May 21, 1936 at Grant Hospital in Chicago. He moved with his family to Owendale when he was 5 years old. Following high school graduation, Ted joined the U.S. Army. He received an honorable discharge in 1956 following the death of his father. On June 18, 1960, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Amanda Hoppe at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Ted had been a farmer in the Owendale-Gagetown area and worked for Michigan Sugar Company in Sebewaing for about 40 years. He retired in 1996. Following retirement, he and his loving wife moved to Gladwin. They spent their winter months in Bowling Green, Florida. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin and a former member of the Owendale Lions Club. He also enjoyed traveling, spending time with his children and grandchildren and helping others as needed. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Geraldine; one son, Theophil A. Jantz III, D.O., of Mendocino, California; one daughter, Tammy Lee (Paul) Childs, of Middlebury, Indiana; his precious grandsons, Cameron Paul, Nathan Andrew and Ryan Patrick Childs; three sisters and their husbands, Margaret (Dennis) Jarvis, of Saginaw, Agnes (John) Meininger, of Gladwin, Ruth (Stan) Bentley, of North Branch; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Theophil A. Jantz and one great-nephew, Nicholas Dwayne Berg. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2005, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 331 Clendening Road in Gladwin with the Rev. Bill Winter officiating. Another service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2005, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 800 E. Bay Street in Sebewaing with the Rev. Tim Verity officiating with burial in Grant Township Cemetery in Gagetown. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. preceding both church services. Arrangements are being made by Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church Building Fund, Lutheran Seminaries of Fort Wayne, or St. Louis Missouri for training future pastors. Wednesday, September 28, 2005 Joyce A. Packard Joyce A. Packard, 62, of Sebewaing, died Tuesday morning, September 27, 2005, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness. She was born on December 14, 1942 in Saginaw, daughter of the late Ralph and Stella (McBride) MacConnel. She was united in marriage to David Packard on January 26, 1963 in Sebewaing. Joyce had been employed by Kmart for 25 years before retiring in 2000. She attended the Colling Church of the Nazarene. She loved to travel and read and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Surviving besides her husband, David, are two daughters and their spouses, Rena (Scott) Lorenz, of Sebewaing, and Rhonda (Jeffrey) Southgate, of Unionville; four grandchildren, David, Devon, Lacy, and Courtney; one sister, Patricia MacConnel, of Bay City; two brothers and their wives, James (Patricia) MacConnel, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Richard (Sandra) MacConnel, of Traverse City; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Pamela English. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2005, at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. The Rev. Jerry W. Wallace will officiate with burial at the Assembly of God Cemetery in Sebewaing. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today, from noon to 9 p.m. on Thursday, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Thursday, September 29, 2005 Lorraine E. Beadle Lorraine E. Beadle, 75, of Caseville, passed away suddenly late Tuesday, September 27, 2005, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. She was born on July 7, 1930 to Otto and Emma (Voss) Fluegge and graduated in 1949 from Pigeon High School. On October 14, 1950, she was united in marriage to Albertus C. Beadle at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Berne. She was an extremely hard worker, and during her working career she was employed as a waitress and at the LeBlanc Store in Caseville. In addition to cooking with her home canned goods and gardening, Mrs. Beadle loved to talk and visit with family and friends. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Berne. In addition to her husband of more than 54 years, Albertus "Bert" Beadle, of Caseville, she is survived by two daughters, a son and their spouses, Jennifer and James Stuby, of Franklin, Tennessee, Jill and Thomas Mellen, of Holt, and Jonathan and Gayle Beadle, of Mount Pleasant; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Beadle, of Caseville; eight grandchildren, Jamie Crosslin, John Thomas, Matthew and Alison Mellen, Marissa, Laura and Nickolas Beadle, and Tonie Hughes; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Mary Lou) Fluegge, of Pigeon, and Otto (Loraine) Fluegge, of Elkton; two sisters, Crystal Teems, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Janet (Russell) Foy, of Gaylord; and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2005, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Berne, with the Rev. James A. (Jerome) Smith, 68, of Brighton, passed away Friday, August 19, 2005. She was born December 13, 1936 in Bad Axe, the daughter of Harold F. and Dorothy E. (Holtzman) Jerome. Her father preceded her in death. She married Robert L. Smith on April 2, 1955 in Bay City and he survives her. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines, Saginaw Bay Yacht Club, and Hidden Springs Retreat Center. Judith is also survived by her mother of Bay Port; children, Kevin (Jolanta) Smith, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Kerri (Robert) Weickel, of Howell, Mark (Dawn) Smith, of Brighton; grandchildren, Lindsay Godfrey, of Howell, Samantha Weickel, of Howell, Joshua Smith and Alissa Smith, both of Brighton; great-grandsons, Shaine Godfrey and Brice Godfrey, of Howell; brother, Michael Jerome, of Apache Junction, Arizona. Gelski, 86, of Sebewaing and formerly of Bay Port, died Tuesday, September 27, 2005, at the home of her sister, Janet Jahr, in Sebewaing following a 15 month illness. She was born October 9, 1918 in Bay Port, daughter of the late Frederick and Lillian (Dilsworth) Kuhl. She was united in marriage to Raymond Gelski on July 25, 1959 in Saginaw. He preceded her in death in 1971. Kathryn had been employed at Lufkin Rule in Saginaw for many years. She was a member of the Bay Port United Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Surviving are three sisters, three brothers and their spouses, Betty Wiebeck, of Toledo, Ohio, Onnallee Chiotti, Richard (Peggy) Kuhl, and John (Cheryl) Kuhl, all of Bay Port, Warren Kuhl, of Frankenmuth, Janet Jahr, of Sebewaing; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, Frederick and Lloyd Kuhl, Mary Ann Zelkowski and Virginia Kuhl. A private service will be conducted at the New Bay Port Cemetery with the Rev. Alger Lewis officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. Dorothy M. Schroeder Dorothy M. Schroeder, 79, of Harbor Beach, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw. Dorothy was born in Delaware Township on April 17, 1926 to the late William and Marie (Peters) Roberts. On November 23, 1946, Dorothy and Elmer Schroeder were united in marriage in Ruth. Dorothy is a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Altar Society. She is a former employee of the Seat Belt factory in Bad Axe, and the Clements Company of Minden City. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and playing cards with family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Elmer Schroeder, of Harbor Beach, and her children, Doris Fisher and her husband, Rick, of Waterford, Richard Schroeder and his wife, Grace, of Minden City, and Dennis Schroeder, of Harbor Beach; six grandchildren, Scott Fisher, Julie (Timothy) Lambiris, Cynthia Fisher, David (Amy) Schroeder, Daniel Schroeder, and Angela Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Morgan Fischer, Hannah, Zachary and Jacob Schroeder; two brothers, Louis Roberts and his wife, Virginia, of Yale, William Roberts and his wife, Marie, of Ubly; three sisters, Jean Nash and her husband, Jack, of Grand Blanc, Leona Heilig and her husband, Henry, of Minden City, Eleanor Booms and her husband, Floyd, of Bad Axe; a brother-in-law, Robert Zmich, of Gladwin. She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Zmich. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2005, in St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Helena. The Rev. Andrzej Boroch will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today, from 1 to 9 p.m. on Friday, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. An altar society rosary service will be said at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home and a vigil service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pearl M. Malloy Pearl M. Malloy, 96, of Pigeon, passed away early Tuesday, September 27, 2005, in Lakeville, Minnesota. She was born in Berne (McKinley Township) on August 7, 1909, daughter of the late August William and Katherine (Yackle) Domine. On June 24, 1934, she was united in marriage to James Loran Malloy in Clio. He preceded her in death on August 9, 2000. Mr. and Mrs. Malloy were married for over 66 years. Mrs. Malloy was an elementary school teacher in Clio at the Dyball Rural School in the early 1930's. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pigeon, as well as the United Methodist Women at the church, and was a former member of the Scheurer Hospital Auxiliary, where she participated in quilting. She also enjoyed sewing, especially for her family. An avid reader, Mrs. Malloy read her Bible cover to cover, often as many as three times annually. She was a prayerful and financial supporter of Christian Mission work. Her survivors include two daughters, Janet A. (Rev. Carl) Stetler, of Veedersburg, Indiana, and Joanne K. (Kenneth) Krause, of Lakeville, Minnesota; son, James F. Malloy of Phoenix, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Paul (Patty) Stetler, Shawn (Leslie) Stetler, Janae Stetler, Katie Krause, Kent (Heather) Krause, Kenna (Matthew) Jensen, Heidi Malloy, and Kellie Malloy; five great-grandchildren, Darius, Devin, Parker, Aaron, and Brandon; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dora Ann and Ruth Domine; and a brother, Frank Domine. The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2005, at the Salem United Methodist Church, Pigeon, with the Rev. John J. Britt, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery where the Rev. Carl Stetler will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon, and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. on Friday at the church. Memorials for Mrs. Malloy may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Pigeon. Friday, September 20, 2005 Don F. Anderson Don Fredrick Anderson, 78, of Springfield, Virginia, died Friday, September 16, 2005, at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, of acute myelocytic leukemia (AML). He was born in Elkton on June 13, 1927 to Norman "Doc" and Ina (Ackerman) Anderson and graduated in 1945 from Elkton High School. After serving in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946, he attended Michigan State College (now Michigan State University), where he graduated with a business degree. He worked for the Ford Motor Company from 1950 to 1953. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and, during his 19-year career, was posted in Montana, Morocco, New Mexico, Guam, California and, finally, in the Washington, D.C., area. Anderson worked as part of a military team who helped develope an early computer system used by the Air Force. His parents, Doc and Ina, enjoyed visiting Don and his family in many of the places where they were stationed. Upon his retirement from the Air Force in 1972, he worked for the U.S. House of Representatives and several defense contractors before retiring again in 1990. His work took him to Saudi Arabia for a year to assist the Royal Saudi Navy in computer system development. He and his wife of 54 years, Mary G. Anderson, traveled the world in retirement. Throughout his life, Anderson visited 76 countries. He was delighted to attend and see old friends at the 60th reunion of his high school on July 30, 2005. Anderson and his family enjoyed visiting relatives and friends in the "Thumb" and attended the Elkton Centennial Celebration in 1998. After his diagnosis in March 2005, Anderson participated in a clinical trial at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center for a new experimental treatment for AML. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Springfield, Virginia, and was an active volunteer for E.C.H.O. (Ecumenical Community Helping Others). Survivors include his wife, Mary G. Anderson; five children, Susan Anderson (Don Smith), of Pretty Lake, Indiana, Nancy Anderson (Don Gaddy), of Greensboro, Georgia, John Anderson (Lisa Anderson), of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Mary Clare Anderson (Regis Lefebure), of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Margaret Anderson (Jeffrey D'Eramo), of Washington, D.C. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Brandon Vetter, Clare Lefebure and Lucy D'Eramo. Fred Maurer Mr. Fred Maurer, 91, of Ubly, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. He was born on January 7, 1914 in Ubly to the late John and Emma (Heilig) Maurer. He was united in marriage to Grace Leppek on October 24, 1938 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. Fred was a graduate of the Maurer Elementary School. He worked at Thumb Electric as a lineman from 1937 to 1977, retiring after 40 years of employment. He was a parishioner, usher, and member of the Men's Club at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. He was a past president of St. John School Board for four years. He was a member of the Ubly Community School Board for six years. He sat on the Ubly Village Council for 23 years and was a past member of the Ubly Community Club for 40 years. He was an honorary member of the Ubly Fox Hunters Club. He played baseball at Smith Corners for 20 years and in Sandusky for five years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom picking, and watching the Detroit Tigers. He loved spending time with family and friends. Fred is survived by his wife of 66 years, Grace, of Ubly; his children, Doris Kolar and her husband, Carl, of Sterling Heights, Marilyn Mastie and her husband, Jim, of Cass City, Fred Maurer Jr. and his wife, Raddie, of Perry, and Gene Maurer and his wife, Barbara, of Grand Blanc; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Maurer and his wife, Joan, of Ubly; three sisters-in-law, Magdeline Leppek, of Rapson, Betty Maurer, of Smith Corners, Margaret Maurer, of Harbor Beach; and several nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by five brothers, Raymond, Edward, Anthony, Neil, and Elmer Maurer; four sisters, Kate True, Helen Oberski, Clara Polk, and Emma Mazure. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2005, at St. John's Catholic Church in Ubly. The Rev. Joseph Griffin, pastor, will preside. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 to 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. 1
