Friday, November 17, 2006 Donald McBride Donald "Dunk" McBride, 61, of Caseville, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, November 15, 2006, at his deer hunting "condo" near Port Hope. He was born October 15, 1945 in Bad Axe, the son of Frances and the late Kenneth McBride. He was a 1963 graduate of Laker High School. Don's life was family, farming, and friendships. He lived by the "Golden Rule." Don's happiest moments were when he and Deb were surrounded by their girls and grandchildren at their home. They loved being together; the noisier the house, the better! The little ones looked forward to having grandpa give them a ride on the big tractor, or take them in the golf cart to check the crops. His daughters called often to say "hi" and ask him what he was doing. Don and Deb were the best of friends and loved traveling in the winter months; sometimes to Hawaii, the Caribbean Islands, or Spain. Wherever they went, they met and made new friends. They loved exploring the places they visited together and always looked forward to where they'd travel the next winter. Don was raised on the family farm and was successful because he worked side-by-side with his dad throughout most of his life. Don loved life and will be remembered by his buddies for some of the practical jokes he played on them and they on him! He enjoyed being with people, and his warmth and welcoming smile made him a friend to many. Don was a dedicated deer hunter and avid golfer. Don had a deep love of family and many true friendships. Don is survived by his adoring wife, Deborah (Ducharme), to whom he was married August 5, 1966; loving daughters and their spouses, Denice and Kirt Walton, of Traverse City, Krista and Sean Connors, of Bridgeport, and Wendy and Mark Bailey, of Saginaw; treasured grandchildren, Zachary and Molly Walton, Brenna and Karly Connors; and step grandchildren, Jessica and Mark Bailey; his mother, Frances; siblings, Ken and Kathy McBride, of Missouri, Jim and Rita McBride, of Oregon, Carole and Stewart Henry, of Caseville, and Peggy and Dr. Victor Schechter, of Texas; in-laws, Dr. Howard and Karen Ducharme, of Ohio, Dr. Timothy and Suzanne Murphy, of Saginaw, and Bill and Jean Allgaier, of Traverse City; nieces and nephews; and many true friends. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2006, at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home in Pigeon, with Elder Ervin Haley officiating. Burial will be in Grandlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers are Dennis McBride, Tim Murphy, Bob "Red" Newton, Ervin "Jr." Schuette, Lee Truemner, Jerry Young and Michael Murphy. To complete his love of life, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Gift of Life. 1
