Sunday, December 17, 2006 – No obituaries reported Monday, December 18, 2006 - No obituaries reported Tuesday, December 19, 2006 Bernice Doyle Bernice Doyle, 92, of Sun City, Arizona, died November 14, 2006, of natural causes. Bernice Clara Schlichting was born on December 10, 1913 to Frank H. and Clara B. Schlichting of Port Hope. She attended Michigan State University, was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and became a registered nurse. She married Oren E. Doyle on December 28, 1939 in Port Huron. During World War II, after the birth of their first child, Glenn, in 1941, while Oren served in the Navy in the South Pacific, she worked as a surgical nurse in Harbor Beach. Following Oren's discharge from service in 1945, they had three more children, Allan Karl, Mary Elizabeth, and Kathleen Ann, followed in 1947, 1952 and 1958. From 1950, the family lived in Caro and Bernice pursued a career as homemaker and mother. Later, when her children were older, she returned to work as a nursing administrator at the Caro State Hospital. In 1978, Oren and Bernice moved to Sun City, Arizona, where they enjoyed over a quarter century of active retirement, centered around a shared love of golf, but including Bernice's volunteer work in the "Each One Teach One" program and the pleasure of gently spoiling grandson, Travis. Bernice took painting lessons, remained a lifelong avid reader, and learned computer skills in her 70s, sending e-mail before some of her offspring even had a computer. In her 80s, after a series of mild strokes limited her mobility - but not her enthusiasm - she toured Kartchner Caverns in Tucson. Arizona on foot. From October 2004, Oren and Bernice lived at the Woodmark Assisted Living Facility in Sun City, where Bernice continued to live following Oren's death in January 2005. Bernice is survived by her children, Glenn Doyle (Mona), of Empire, Allan Doyle, of Seattle, Washington, and Mary Doyle and Kathy Doyle, both of Phoenix, Arizona; and grandchildren, Philip, Patrick, and Katherine Doyle and Travis Bursik. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother George, and her sister Leona. Her personal motto was "One Day At A Time, And Do The Best You Can." Bernice's family wishes to make special mention of the administration and staff of the Woodmark at Sun City Assisted Living Facility, Odyssey Health Care hospice, and Sun City Caregivers, all of whom contributed dedicated and loving care that helped make our mother's last months and days both peaceful and joyful. We will always remember you with gratitude. Jeanette C. Goniwiecha Jeanette C. Goniwiecha, 79, of Harbor Beach, passed away Monday, December 18, 2006, at Huron Medical Center, Bad Axe.
