Lamke Ruby M. Lamke, 73, of Bad Axe, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2006, at her home. She was born January 23, 1933 in Bad Axe, daughter of the late Omar and Isabella (Nutt) Bouverette. Ruby married Casimer E. Lamke on June 6, 1953 in St. Edwards Catholic Church in Kinde. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. She is survived by her husband, Casimer E. Lamke, of Bad Axe; one son, Ronald (Marilyn) Lamke, of Bad Axe; one daughter, Pamela (Terry) McMullen, of Bad Axe; three grandchildren, Kimberly Lamke, of Evanston, Illinois, Kenneth Lamke, of Bad Axe, and Nicole (Greg) Turner, of Saginaw; and one great-granddaughter, Breanna Turner, of Saginaw. She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Lloyd, Andrew, Earl, Frederick, Emil, Olin and Paul Bouverette; and two sisters, Hazel Wiederhold and Dorothy McDonald. In keeping with her wishes, no services will be conducted. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Bad Axe. Arrangements are through the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Tuesday, November 21, 2006 Everts J. "Jim" Mosack Mr. Everts J. "Jim" Mosack, 78, of Gagetown, passed away Monday morning, November 20, 2006. He was born in Highland Park on October 31, 1928, a son of Anthony and Mildred (Everts) Mosack. On August 5, 1967, he married Crystal Osterberg in Flint. She preceded him in death on June 4, 1998. Jim served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was a military police officer. He and Crystal were formerly members of Holy Redeemer Church, Burton, and held membership of St. Agatha Catholic Church upon moving to Gagetown. They were owners and operators of an advertising specialty business where he was known as "the flag man." Jim retired from the AC Division of General Motors in Flint after more than 20 years of service. The Thumb Octagon Barn was one of his major volunteer efforts. Surviving are his children, Leroy Osborn Jr., Jim Mosack, Michael (Michelle) Mosack, Annette Mtangi, and Margaret (Stephen) Root; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; along with his brothers, Joe (Chris) Mosack, Conrad Mosack and Bob (Trudy) Mosack; and a sister, Mary Kerbyson. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2006, at St. Agatha Church with the Rev. Steve Filion officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be between 5 and 9 p.m. on Friday at Gagetown Funeral Chapel and from 10 a.m. until Mass time on Saturday at the church. The family has suggested memorials to St. Agatha Church or to the Thumb Octagon Barn. Wednesday, November 22, 2006 Clifford Junior Bates Clifford Junior Bates, 82, of Sebewaing, died Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at the Caro Community Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born July 20, 1924 in North Branch, son of the late Clifford M. and Laura (Brown) Bates. He graduated from Sebewaing High School in 1942. Following graduation, he worked briefly in Willow Run. He then joined the U. S. Army Air Corps serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was discharged January 18, 1946. On July 1, 1946, he was appointed postmaster in Sebewaing at which time he was the youngest postmaster in the nation. He worked there for 40 years before retiring on March 29, 1986. He was united in marriage to Doris A. Fibranz on April 17, 1949 in Bay City. Cliff was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing where he served as treasurer, usher, member of the ad council and several other offices. He also attended Caro United Methodist Church while he lived at the Lighthouse. He was a life member of Sebewaing V.F.W. Post No. 4115; member of Sebewaing American Legion Post No. 293, served as service officer for both; had been in the Veterans Honor Guard; was active in the V.F.W. at the district and state levels; and also served 30 years on the Board of Managers in Grand Rapids and Marquette. He was on the Sebewaing Village Council, Sebewaing Township Ambulance, the Huron County Allied Veterans Council and the National Association of Postmasters. Surviving besides his wife, Doris; are two daughters and their spouses, Jean (Donald) Carpenter and Janet (Dennis) Briolat, all of Unionville; exchange student daughter, Gredel Warbeck, of Munich, Germany; six grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica and Jacob Carpenter, Karen (Doug) Parlberg, of Birch Run, and Jason and Katelyn Skirlo; two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Carson Parlberg; one sister, Evelyn (Henry) Reis, of Essexville; one brother, Vern (Norma) Bates, of Caro; and two nieces and two nephews. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2006, at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bill Wright will officiate with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Sebewaing Township Ambulance, The Lighthouse, or Bay Shore Camp. Ruth M. Flint Ruth M. Flint, 73, of Sebewaing, died Sunday, November 19, 2006, at Covenant Healthcare Harrison in Saginaw after a brief illness. She was born February 5, 1933 in Sebewaing, daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Meyer) Minch. After the death of her mother, she was raised by Norman and Valta (Martini) Fliegel. Ruth attended Immanuel Lutheran School and Sebewaing High School. She earned her teaching degree from Central Michigan University. She taught commercial arts at St. Clair Shores High School and later at Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Laker High School. She was involved in several business ventures, and owned and operated Hannah's Fashion Shoppe in Sebewaing for 15 years before retiring. She was married to Jerild James Flint, of Hudson, Florida for 24 years and they had remained close friends. Family, church and friends were closest to Ruth's heart. Her sons, Mike and Steve, dearly remember seeing her in the stands at their sporting events actively involved in their activities, and the love and support she gave so freely. Ruth has been a constant presence in her grandchildren's lives. She frequently attended their school activities and sporting events. She always found time to sit down with them at the kitchen table to play cards and games or just chat. Ruth was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was active in the choir, Bible study, and other ministries. She also loved to sing with the Sweet Adelines Chorus and had many fun trips and adventures with her friends from Sweet Adelines. She also enjoyed being with friends at water aerobics in Caro and at the Sebewaing meal site. We will always remember her love and kindness and we dearly miss her. Surviving are two sons and their wives, Michael and Patricia Flint, of Midland, and Steven and Ellen Flint, of Twinsburg, Ohio; four grandchildren, Katie, Megan, Bailey and Ryan Flint; one sister, Betty Hoeh, of Kaleva; ten nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by one sister, Alice Hoeh. The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2006, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel Hahn will officiate with burial in Northlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Sebewaing Dining Center. Franklyn L. "Pink" Collins Franklyn L. "Pink" Collins, 66, of Birch Run, died Sunday, November 19, 2006, at his residence. Franklyn was born January 29, 1940 in Bad Axe to the late Richard and Lorna (Thomas) Collins. He had resided in the Birch Run area the past 36 years. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1957 to 1961. Franklyn married Susan Neath on May 22, 1970. She preceded him in death in December of 1980. He was employed with General Motors for 25 years retiring in 1992. He also owned and operated Collins Electric of Birch Run for the past 20 years and was the electrical inspector for the village of Birch Run and Birch Run and Taymouth Townships. He was a member of the St. Christopher's Catholic Church of Bridgeport. Franklyn was a member of the Moose, Eagles Club, and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley, coaching women's softball and spending time with his granddaughter Lynden. Surviving are his son, R.J. Collins, of Kalamazoo; daughter, Heather (Adam) Collins-Shustock, of Birch Run; granddaughter, Lynden Kay Collins; sister, Kathy (Ken) Tobias, of Saginaw; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2006, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Birch Run. Fr. John Sarge will officiate with burial at Birch Run Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and from noon to 9 p.m. on Friday at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. A memorial service by the American Legion and the Moose Lodge will be at 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Alary Caitlyn Moody Alary Caitlyn Moody, 5 weeks old, of Sebewaing, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 20, 2006, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. She was born Friday, October 13, 2006, in Saginaw, daughter of William P. and Denise M. (Geyer) Moody. Surviving besides her parents are three brothers and one sister, Vicky, Tyler, Austin and Brandon; grandparents, Timothy (Paulette) Geyer, of Orlando, Florida, Glenna S. Argue, of Alma, Sharon M. Stalsberg, of Pinconning, William P. Moody, Sr. of Arizona; and several aunts and uncles. A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2006, at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. Thursday, November 23, 2006 - Thanksgiving Day Holiday Friday, November 24, 2006 Daniel Gorney Daniel Harry Gorney, 67, of Bad Axe, died Wednesday, November 22, 2006, at home following a long illness. Dan was born January 17, 1939 in Rapson to Harry and Irene (Talaski) Gorney. He graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Army. Upon his discharge from the Army, he returned to Bad Axe where he lived his entire life. Dan married Beverly Wehner on August 24, 1963 in Harbor Beach. He enjoyed showing his 1978 Black Mercury Grand Marquis at local auto shows. Dan also liked polka music, playing cards and attending air shows. He was a farm equipment salesman and a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Bad Axe. In addition to his wife, Beverly, Dan is survived by six children, Denise (John) Kohr, of Pigeon, Nancy (Scott) Tanner, of Boon, Carolyn (Joe) Houle, of Rochester, Diane (Dave) Jammer, of Midland, Kelly (Mike) Petrat, of Coos Bay, Oregon, and Keith (Celeste) Gorney, of Brooklyn; 14 grandchildren, Jessica and Jamie Kohr, Erin and Cole Tanner, Jordyn, Ryan and Daniel Houle, Adam Jammer, Nathan Petrat, Brooke, Kate and Trent Gorney, and Chase and Sydnie Harding; his mother, Irene Gorney; brothers, Arnold (Rose) Gorney and Ken Gorney; sister, Carl (Eric) Oman; and several nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his father, Harry Gorney; sister, Janet Gorney; and brother, Gary Gorney. "Koz" Kozminske, 89, of Mattawan, died Monday, November 20, 2006. Koz was born April 17, 1917 in Grand Rapids, the son of Joseph and Victoria (Koreleski) Kozminske. He was a veteran of WW II and owned and operated the Rush Inn Bar. Koz was a member of St. John Bosco Church, St. Augustine Cathedral and a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Paw Paw. Surviving members of his family include his wife of 25 years, Marilyn Kozminske; seven children, Sharon (Andy) Armstrong, of Flint, David (Aura) Kozminske, of Kalamazoo, James (Judy) Kozminske, of Mattawan, Patricia Kozminske, of Kalamazoo, Joseph Kozminske, of Kalamazoo, Connie Jo (Rick) Kerley, of Cedar Lake, Indiana, and Kathleen Margaret Kozminske, of Chicago, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Dwana Kozminske, of Kalamazoo; and many nieces and nephews. Edward A. Hillaker Edward Albert Hillaker, 91, of Argyle, died Wednesday, November 22, 2006, in Satchell's Christian Retirement Home in Caro. He was born March 2, 1915 at home in Argyle Township to William and Elizabeth (Willerton) Hillaker. He married Belva Ann Phillips on March 6, 1937 in Belva's parents' home. She died April 12, 2004. Ed was a dairy and crop farmer. He also worked for a time for Guerdon Industry in Marlette and several years for General Cable in Cass City. Ed was a member of Cass City First Baptist Church. He enjoyed visiting the stockyards every Tuesday, especially partaking in the pie. Ed enjoyed watching sports on television and he loved music. Ed is survived by his children, Richard (Janet) Hillaker, of Port Huron, Jerry (Sharon) Hillaker, of Snover; grandchildren, Susan (Brian) Duda, Diane (Robert) Baur, Kristen (Steven) Coon, Sara (Tim) Ladd, Jennifer Hillaker; great grandchildren, Trevin, Kaylee, and Jacob Edward Ladd, Ryan Duda, Nolan and Kamdyn Coon; sister, Muriel Parrott, of Lazerne; brothers, Russell (Elaine) Hillaker, of Cass City, Lorn (June) Hillaker, of Cass City; sister-in-law, Thelma Phillips, of Decker; many nieces and nephews.
