Krause, 92, of Coleman, died Friday, July 21, 2006, at her home. She was born June 7, 1914 in Huron County, the daughter of Daniel and Salinda (Scheifele) Eicher. Ethel E. Eicher married Harold C. Krause, Sr. in Elkton on March 2, 1932. She was survived by her sons; Richard and Patricia Krause, of Lexington, Kentucky, and Gary and Marilyn Krause, of Oakland; daughter, Betty Williams, of Coleman; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, Sr.; a son, Harold, Jr.; one brother; two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2006, at the Coleman Wesleyan Church with a 2:30 p.m. committal service at the Riverside Cemetery in Elkton. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the O'Laughlin Funeral Home, Inc. in Coleman and from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Coleman Wesleyan Church. Mary A. Russell Mrs. Mary A. Russell, 74, of Owendale, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2006, at her home. She was born July 14, 1932 in Silver Springs, Maryland, the daughter of the late Robert and Cora (Belle) Bettes. On October 25, 1948, she married Ralph Russell in Washington, D.C.. Ralph passed away October 10, 2004. Mary was a homemaker. She loved gardening, embroidery, country music and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary is survived by her children, Katherine (Randy) Dohring, of Vanderbilt, John (Denice) Russell, of Owendale, James (Sandra) Russell, of Cass City, Frances (Rick) Pangburn, of Sandusky, Tim Russell, of Owendale, Donald (Shannon) Russell, of Gagetown, Christine (Richard) Hubbard, of Prudenville, Michael Russell, of Owendale, Mark (Michelle) Russell, of Marlette, and Karen Johnson, of Cass City; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. A service will be held at noon on Monday, July 24, 2006, at Thabet Funeral Home, 6255 Main Street, Cass City. Pastor Chuck Carr, of Calvary Bible Fellowship, Cass City, will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund. Monday, July 24, 2006 Watson G. Bilger Watson George Bilger, 77, of Spencer, Wisconsin and formerly of Unionville, died Saturday, June 24, 2006, at his daughter's residence where he had resided since September 2005. He was born February 13, 1929 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Frank and Annabel (Lemon) Bilger. He received his education in Oklahoma and then at the age of 16, he moved with his family to Ontario, Oregon, where he worked with the family's hatchery business. He graduated from high school in 1947 and put himself through college by working the potato harvests. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1951 with a degree in animal husbandry. He furthered his education in the Conservative Baptist Theological Seminary in Denver, Colorado. On August 29, 1952, he married Jean Zailer at the Baptist Church in Denver. The young couple lived in Denver and he worked in construction and for the United States Postal Service. He became a pastor in Hotchkiss, Colorado, and then in 1958, he joined the American Sunday School Union, serving lower Michigan. From 1968-72, he was the pastor at the Calvary Baptist Church in Grayling, and for the next 14 years, he served at the Filion Church near Bad Axe. He was part of the Forgotten Man Mission, working in the jails in the Thumb area in Michigan until 1989. His wife died in May 1990. A few years after her death, his health failed and he retired. He came to live with his daughter in September 2005. He greatly enjoyed walking many miles each day. He was an avid historian and gardener. He loved his wife and his family, and will be sadly missed by his many good friends in the Unionville area. Survivors include his daughters, Ann (Darrell) Banning, of Saginaw, Georgia Wiese, of Spencer, Wisconsin, and Laura (Daniel) Nice of Wellington, Fla.; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; one sister, Clara Stoher; one grandchild, Joel Slempkes, in 1985; and one son- in-law, Bob Wiese, in January 2005. A celebration of his life will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2006, at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. William Nicholas Cook William Nicholas Cook, 89, beloved husband, devoted father and grandfather, faithful servant of God, was called home on Friday, July 21, 2006, to be with his Lord and Savior. Bill was born February 23, 1917 in Detroit to Reinhold and Catherine (Brecht) Kuck. The family moved to St. Clair Shores shortly after he was born. Bill resided there until he was orphaned at the age of 9. He then moved with his two siblings to Sebewaing. In 1933, Bill left Sebewaing and went to Caro to work for room and board and attend Caro High School for 11th grade. In June 1934, Bill decided to return to Sebewaing and worked for the Old Heidleberg Inn for room and board. At the same time, he attended Sebewaing High School and graduated in 1935. In August 1935, Bill moved to Bay City and attended the Bay City Business College. While in Bay City, he also worked for VanTuyl Funeral Home for room and board. After one year at Bay City Business College, and a couple of jobs which didn't pan out, he went to work for The Dow Chemical Company in 1937. He graduated from Bay City Business College in 1938, completing his degree while working at Dow. In 1939, he married Dorothy Moeller and they moved to Midland in 1950. She predeceased him in 1968. In 1971, Bill married Betty (Jungman) Dubey. They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on July 17, 2006. In 1944, Bill served overseas in World War II with the 99th Infantry Division. He returned in 1946 and went back to work at Dow. Bill retired in 1982 after 45 years with Dow (including the 2 years of military service). Since retirement, Bill was busy as a volunteer. He was a very active member at St. John's Lutheran Church, serving on many boards, as an elder, and as president of the congregation. He was one of the first recipients of the "Hands of Christ" award in 1997. He was a volunteer tax aide through AARP and prepared income tax returns for senior citizens. He was one of the charter members of the Kiwassee Kiwanis Club of Midland and served as president of the Club in 1976. He was a delight to many who enjoyed purchasing Kiwanis nuts from "Cashew Cook" each Christmas and was top sales person for many years. Bill was a very social person who enjoyed talking with the many people he met throughout his life. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, toffee ice cream bars and watching the Tigers play baseball on television (which he called "going to the game"). He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Midland; sons, Kevin Cook, of Westland, and James Dubey, of Sterling Heights; daughters, Jennifer Cook, Mary Dubey and Anne Dubey, of Midland, and Susan Dubey, of Freeland; and grandchildren, Allison (Bert) Elliott, of Monroe, Jason Cook, of Westland, Danielle Dubey, of Sterling Heights, Kaitlyn Pake, of Midland; and his special granddog, Mackenzie, of Freeland. In addition to his first wife, Bill was predeceased by his parents; son, Thomas Cook; sister, Amalia (Kuck) Rowland; and brother, Robert Kuck. He was a wonderful man and a blessing to those who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Funeral services for Bill will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at St. John's Lutheran Church at the corner of Carpenter and George Streets. The Rev. Dr. Douglas Janetzke will officiate with graveside burial rites in Midland Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Midland Area Veterans, and the Army National Guard. Howard August Volz Mr. Howard August Volz, 78, of Winter Haven, Florida, died of cancer on Thursday, July 20, 2006, at home. Born May 7, 1928 in Sebewaing, Mr. Volz moved to Winter Haven 27 years ago. He was a truck driver for Arr-Maz. He attended Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Winter Haven, Florida. Mr. Volz is survived by his wife, Ruth M. (Bergman) Volz; daughter, Debbie Dobbins, of Bartow, Florida; son, Douglas Volz, of Eagle Lake; Florida; sisters, Florence Bergman, of Frankenmuth, Lill Huiskens, of Bay City, Hannah Williams, of Hayward, California, Irene Gehring, of Seattle; and seven grandchildren. Tuesday, July 25, 2006 Suzanne "Suzie" Chumbler Suzanne "Suzie" Chumbler, 64, of Bad Axe, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2006, at her home surrounded by family after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. A fun, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Suzie was a special person to all that were lucky enough to know her. She was always ready for a good card game, golf game, dancing, or just being around her large, very close family. Right through her last day, she still exhibited her warm sense of humor, sparkling blue eyes and fighting Irish spirit. Suzie is survived by her husband of nearly 44 years, Roy Chumbler, of Bad Axe; five children, Julie and her husband, Mike, of Ypsilanti, Dan Chumbler and his wife, Lisa, of Carlsbad, Calififornia, Dave Chumbler and his wife, Renee, of Bad Axe, Mike Chumbler and his wife, Linda, of Harbor Springs, and Jill Chumbler and her special friend, Judd Helton, of Suttons Bay; four brothers, Jim Yaroch, of Hickory, North Carolina, Dan (Trudy) Yaroch, of Filion, John (Linda) Yaroch, of Charlevoix, and Pat (Vicki) Yaroch, of Bad Axe; two sisters, Julie (Sonny) Harker-Leigh and Mary Ziegler, both of Bad Axe. She is also survived by her 10 precious grandchildren, Emily, Cody, Kallie, Chloe, Kennedy, Olivia, Kasey, Kara, Carson, and Finn; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert "Boots" and Mary Yaroch; and one brother, Tommy Yaroch. William Joseph Ross William Joseph Ross, 77, of Caseville, died Monday, July 24, 2006, at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe after a recurring battle with cancer. Bill was born March 22, 1929 in Detroit to the late William H. and Agnes (Sheeran) Ross. He served in the U.S. Navy before working for General Motors. In 1954, he was hired into the Detroit Police Department retiring in 1979. Having had a cottage in Caseville since 1971, he moved there permanently in the early 1990s. He was a member of the Detroit Police Officers Association, Lieutenants and Sergeants Association, a charter member of the Caseville Eagles No. 3690 and a proud Navy veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and with his many friends at the Caseville Eagles. Bill is survived by his daughters, Diane (Mike) Pokone, of Chesterfield Township, Karen (Al) Sizemore, of Centerline, and Susan (Jim) Kuenner, of Somerset; grandchildren, Jason, Bryan, Shanna, Derek and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Luke, Landon, Noah and Alison. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Adam; brother, Robert; and sister, Virginia Parmalee. Wednesday, July 26, 2006 Georgi Ann Finlayson Mrs. Georgi Ann Finlayson, 88, of Bad Axe, passed away Monday, July 24, 2006, at Courtney Manor of Bad Axe. Georgi was born May 22, 1918 in Detroit to the late William and Wilhelmina (Georgi) McGrath. She married John Finlayson on August 15, 1941 at the Bethel Evangelical Church in Detroit. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1999. She was a 1934 graduate of Eastern High School. She worked as a secretary in the advertising department at the Detroit News. Her late husband, John, worked as the editor of the Entertainment Section of the Detroit News for 47 years, retiring in 1974. In 1976, Georgi and John moved to Traverse City and later resided in Ubly with their daughter, Christine. She enjoyed reading, gardening and singing. Georgi is survived by her children, Christine Young, of Ubly, John Finlayson and his wife, Bonnie, of Belleville, James Finlayson and his wife, Beverly, of Farmington Hills, Ann Ivinskas and her husband, Bob, of Westerville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Andrew and Adam Finlayson, Paul and Julia Ivinskas; and one sister, Mary Duffy, of Falmouth, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by one brother, William McGrath. A private memorial service will take place at a later date. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. Osentoski, 71, of Ubly, passed away Monday, July 24, 2006, at the Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. Hank was born March 16, 1935 in Austin Township to the late Stanley and Bertha (Grifka) Osentoski. He married Donna Booms in April of 1957 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Helena. He married Ruth Ann (Ross) Talaski July 16, 1982 in Sanilac County. He attended Ubly High School. He farmed from 1956 until he retired in 1976. In 1977, he became employed at Northstar (MABC) Genetics in Lansing, working with select sires until he retired in 2000. He was a delegate for the Michigan Milk Producers. He was a parishioner at St. John Church in Ubly for 47 years where he served as an usher. He was currently a parishioner at St. Ignatius Church in Freiburg, joining there in 1982. He played softball for 50 years, founding the Tyre Slow Pitch Softball team. He bowled for Lamke Body Shop. He was a member of the Austin Township Zoning and Review Boards. He enjoyed farming, trapping, hunting, logging and gardening. Phyllis Jeane Wiswell Phyllis Jeane Wiswell, 82, of Caseville and formerly of Snover, passed away Monday, July 24, 2006, at the Marlette Extended Care Facility in Marlette. She was born April 19, 1924 to Curtis and Velma (Cousins) Cargill in Marlette. She married Donald H. Wiswell on October 6, 1945 in Marlette. They made their home and raised their children in Snover. Phyllis was a Marlette High School graduate, class of 1942, and a graduate of Grace Nurses Training in 1945. As an R.N., she was privileged to help many people in the area in hospitals, the community, Bay Shore Camp and also as a public health nurse in Sanilac County for a number of years. When Hills and Dales Hospital opened in Cass City, she turned the key at the dedication ceremony and worked there until her retirement. After retiring from nursing, she got her real-estate license, found that she loved to paint, travel and do volunteer work. She was a member of the Heritage United Methodist Church in Snover for many years, where she was a Sunday school teacher and one year for Bible school she did a study on medicines in the Bible. She is survived by her husband, Donald; two daughters, Linda Reeves, of Ida, Bonnie Wiswell, of Fremont, California; two sons, Paul (Nancy) Wiswell, of Holly, Richard Wiswell, of Clio; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine (Rex) Taylor, of Marlette, and Mary Jo Cargill, of Marlette; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Leonard; and her sister, Florence Heberling. Henne Glenn William Henne, 78, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Covenant Cooper Hospital in Saginaw. He was born December 10, 1927 to William and Erma (Beaver) Henne at his home in Bay Port. He attended Bay Port School. Glenn was united in marriage to Audrey Jane Kraft on September 6, 1947 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pigeon. Glenn was a poultry farmer, worked at Pigeon Manufacturing, and was a Laker school bus driver. He worked for several fertilizer companies, including Virginia Green and Occidental, and retired from Royster Fertilizer Company after 15 years of service. He loved fishing with his grandchildren and his friends. He also loved all of his grandchildren's sports, as well as bowling and baseball. Glenn was a member of the Bay Port Chamber of Commerce for 17 years and was instrumental in getting the boat ramp developed for the public access in Bay Port. He was a member of the Owendale Lions Club, devoting many hours to their community projects. He was a member of the McKinley Township zoning board for many years and a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Glenn was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pigeon, and served on several church boards. He is survived by his wife, Audrey, to whom Glenn had been married for 58 years; two daughters, Reneé Dawn (David) Anderson, of Bay Port, and Christine Lee (Douglas) Krohn, of Bad Axe; six grandchildren, Jason (Tami) Krohn, of Grand Rapids, Branden Anderson, of Bay Port, Heath (Melanie) Krohn, of Bad Axe, Heather (Michael) McCleary, of Bay Port, Scott (fiancee Julie Sapala) Anderson, of Jackson, and Kim (friend A.J. Rathje) Krohn, of Lansing; six great-grandchildren, Madison and Brady Krohn, Hunter and Layton Krohn, and Andrew and Isabel McCleary; two sisters, Letha Chamberlain, of Saginaw, and Grace (Floyd) McGillivray, of Clio; his in-laws, Shirley Kraft, of Pigeon, James (Sue) Kohl, of Pigeon, Edythe Lado, of Caro, and Ron (Bernice) Kraft, of Onsted; and many nieces and nephews. Wodwaska, 92, of Parisville, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at Harper Hospital in Detroit. She was born July 21, 1914 in Paris Township to the late Leo and Lucy (Czewski) Oberski. She married Sylvester Wodwaska on October 14, 1933 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1993. She was a graduate of a country school. She lived in Detroit for awhile before returning to the Paris Township farm where she farmed with her family. She was a lifelong parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. She was a former officer and member of the St. Mary Rosary Sodality and worked for many years at the parish festival. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella Fidelis Regina Circle No. 608 for the last 15 years. She enjoyed quilting, playing cards, working the Knights of Columbus fish fries, traveling and casino tours. Isabel is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Downey and her husband, Dennis, of Taylor, and Geraldine Peruski and her husband, Glen, of Ubly; one daughter-in-law, Marian Wodwaska, of Ruth; eight grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Gertrude, Mildred, and Rita Oberski. She was preceded in death by one son, Arnold Wodwaska; one great-grandson, Jeffery Fess; six brothers, Julius, Ted, Albert, Roman, Isadore and David Oberski; three sisters, Anna (Susalla) Filipak, Victoria Wrubel, and Irene Lamke. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2006, at St. Mary Catholic Church of Parisville. The Rev. Jerzy Dobosz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Ramisch, 92, of Palms, passed away Friday, July 28, 2006, in the long term care unit of the Harbor Beach Community Hospital.
