Sunday, June 25, 2006 Watson George Bilger Watson George Bilger, 77, of Spencer, Wisconsin and formerly of Unionville, died Saturday, June 24, 2006, at his daughter's residence where he had resided since September 2005. He was born February 13, 1929 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, the son of Frank and Annabel (Lemon) Bilger. He received his education in Oklahoma and then at 16, Watson moved with his family to Ontario, Oregon, where he worked with the family's hatchery business. He graduated from high school in 1947 and put himself through college by working the potato harvests. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1951 with a degree in animal husbandry. He furthered his education in the Conservative Baptist Theological Seminary in Denver, Colorado. On August 29, 1952, Watson and Jean Zailer were united in marriage at the Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado. The young couple lived in Denver, Colorado and Watson worked in construction and for the United States Postal Service. He became a pastor in Hotchkiss, Colorado and then in 1958, he joined the American Sunday School Union, serving in lower Michigan. From 1968 to 1972, Watson was the pastor at the Calvary Baptist Church in Grayling and for the next 14 years, he served at the Filion Church near Bad Axe. He was part of the Forgotten Man Mission, working in the jails in the Thumb area until 1989. He then served at the Harbor Beach Baptist Church until 1992. His wife, Jean, died in May 1990 and a few years after her death, Watson's health failed and he retired. He came to live with his daughter in September of 2005. He greatly enjoyed walking many miles each day. He was an avid historian and gardener. Watson loved his wife and his family and will be sadly missed by his many good friends in the Unionville area. He is survived by his daughters, Ann (Darrell) Banning, of Saginaw, Georgia Wiese, of Spencer, Wisconsin, and Laura (Daniel) Nice, of Wellington. Florida; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one sister, Clara Stoher; one grandchild, Joel Stempkes, in 1985, and son- in-law, Bob Wiese, in January of 2005. A celebration of Watson's life will be held in Bad Axe at a later date. Chisholm, 84, of East Lansing, passed away Monday, June 12, 2006. She was surrounded and cared for by those she loved. She was born July 2, 1921 on the family farm near Owendale to Franz and Isadora Chisholm. After graduating from Central Michigan University in 1943, Grace taught first grade for over 30 years, including schools in Michigan and Venezuela for two years teaching the children of Standard Oil Company's United States' employees. Grace enjoyed traveling both in the United States and also many foreign countries. She also enjoyed photography. Grace will be remembered for her love of children and the many nieces and nephews she had. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Mosher; brothers, Donald (Margaret) Chisholm and Frederick (Lois) Chisholm; brother-in-law Dr. Charles Hendricks, and 19 nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Burcham Hills in East Lansing for their love and caring at a time it was needed. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2006, at Grant Township Cemetery in Gagetown. Pastor John Heim, of the Owendale-Gagetown United Methodist Church, will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. David F. Lesoski David Franklin Lesoski, 56, of Bay Port, died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. David was a life-long resident of Huron County, born in Pigeon on March 21, 1950 to Ben and Rosella (Balazs) Lesoski. On July 29, 1983, he married Mary Hurren in Bad Axe. She survives him. David was employed at J.P. Burroughs (Wallace Stone Company) of Bay Port for 38 years and was a member of the United Steel Workers Union. He loved hunting and fishing, traveling, classic cars, and working crossword puzzles. He enjoyed watching game shows and the Dukes of Hazard. He attended the Fairhaven Mennonite Church. In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by seven sons and their spouses: David Lesoski (Maranda), of Pigeon, Joshua Lesoski, of Oak Beach, Anthony Lesoski (Stephanie), of Pigeon, Timothy Fritz (Anna), Jonathan Fritz, David Lesoski, of Bay Port, and Michael Fritz, of Harbor Beach; six sisters and four brothers, Betty (Gary) Lesosky, of St. Helen, Josephine (Dave) Rivard, of Pigeon, Richard (Nancy) Lesoski, of Cass City, and Ann (Robert) Burkett, of Kinde, Donald (LouAnn) Lesoski, of Caro, Virginia (Larry) Ziehm, of Gagetown, Nancy (Merritt) Ligrow, of Kinde, Robert Lesoski, of Bay Port, Ron (Connie) Lesoski, of Sebewaing, and Patricia (Don) Hurren, of Pigeon; several grandchildren, Mackenzie, Slyler, Lacey, Emily Rose, Tyler, Dylan, Bailie, Chazz, and Emily Ann; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Rosella Lesoski, and his in-laws, Reginald and Grace Hurren. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2006, at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home in Pigeon. The Rev. Wayne Keim will officiate. Monday, June 26, 2006 Chad Michael Davis Chad Michael Davis, 20, of Caseville, died Saturday, June 24, 2006, on Drummond Island after being struck by an automobile as a pedestrian. Chad was born May 15, 1986 in Bad Axe to Richard and Jan (Menominee) Davis. Chad grew up in Caseville and graduated from Caseville High School in 2005. Throughout high school, he worked at the Caseville IGA. He recently finished his first year of college at Northwood University in Midland. He was living in Detour Village in the Upper Peninsula for the summer while working on Drummond Island. Chad was an all around athlete, excelling in basketball and soccer, and proud of his accomplishments as a Caseville Eagle. He also enjoyed playing percussion in the Caseville Band. He was Homecoming king in the fall of 2004 and held school records for the number of 3-point shots made. This past winter, he was excited to have attended Super Bowl XL in Detroit as a representative of Northwood University. Chad was well-liked and respected by his many friends, and will be dearly missed by his family. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Jan and Jack Behrens, of Detour Village; father, Rick Davis; brothers, Patrick, of Bad Axe, James, who is currently serving in the U.S. Navy in the Persian Gulf, Richard, Scott and Tyler, all of Detour Village; nephew, Isaac Tobias; grandmother, Peggy (Ballard) Rinnert, of Pigeon; aunt and uncle, Dee and Ron Deming, of Pigeon; and uncle and aunt, Robert and Kim Menominee, of Unionville; cousins, Jessica, Matthew, Amber and April; and many great aunts and uncles. For the past four years, Chad had lived with the Kretzchmer family, Steve, Kim, Andy and Brandon, and they too will miss him. He will also be missed by his special friends, Sally and Amanda Sturgill. He was born September 12, 1907 in Verona Township to Lester and Minnie (Parney) Miller. He married Eleanor M. Binder on November 24, 1936 in Detroit. Clarence worked for General Telephone as a lineman, retiring in 1972 after over 26 years. He was a member of Masonic Tyler Lodge No. 317. Clarence was an avid beekeeper and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Clarence is survived by his wife, Eleanor; children, Joanne M. (Charles C.) O'Dell, of Caseville, Gary W. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association. Leo Franklin Ziegelmann Leo Franklin Ziegelmann, 82, of Bad Axe, died Saturday, June 24, 2006, at his home. Mr. Ziegelmann was born September 3, 1923 in Snover to the late Frank and Gertrude (Bloomfield) Ziegelmann. Leo and Anna Jane Reehl were united in marriage on March 6, 1946 at the Bad Axe First Presbyterian Church. Their wedding was officiated by the Rev. Manson H. Lowe. Anna preceded Leo in death on May 6, 2001. He graduated in 1941 from the Sandusky High School. Leo was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Bad Axe Masonic Lodge. He was employed with the A & P Grocery Company from 1945 until he retired in 1973. He also was manager of the Wagener County Park in Harbor Beach for a time. He enjoyed bowling with the Bad Axe men's league for several years at the former Almac Lanes and camping. Mr. Ziegelmann is survived by two sons, Daniel Ziegelmann and his wife, Mary, of Sparta, and Roger Ziegelmann, of Bay City; three daughters, Judy Joppich and her husband, Chester, of Bay City, Lee Ann Krueger and her husband, Gordon, of Caseville, and Bonnie Ziegelmann, of Ubly; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ila Palmer and her husband, Ken, of Snover; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Leo was preceded in death by two brothers, Loyal and Ivan Ziegelmann. Abdon Amy Anna Abdon, 90, of Port Austin, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe. She was born in Akron, Ohio on February 23, 1916, daughter of the late Michael and Rose (Aust) Brateljanovich. On April 18, 1955, she was united in marriage to Calvin Ballard Abdon in Angola, Indiana. He survives her. Mrs. Abdon worked for U.S. Rubber in Detroit for more than 12 years. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. In addition to her husband, Calvin, to whom she had been married more than 51 years, she is survived by a daughter, Norma Jean (Richard) Hemauer, of Pigeon; two grandchildren, Samantha and Ryan; and her dear friends. She was born March 12, 1946 in Harbor Beach to Frank and Ollie Learman. She married James D. Cox on June 22, 1968 in Harbor Beach. Mrs. Cox was a teacher at Michigamme Elementary School and had taught for 38 years in the Port Huron Area School District. She was a member of The American Association of University Women, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel. She enjoyed bowling, horseracing and traveling. Wednesday, June 28, 2006 Irene (Gorkowski) Ignash Irene (Gorkowski) Ignash, 77, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at her home in Warren. Mrs. Ignash was born in 1929 in Detroit. She was a 56-year-resident of Warren and was formerly from Filion. She was active with her church, St. Clement Catholic Church in Center Line. She enjoyed traveling, visiting casinos and spending as much time possible with her family. She was the beloved wife of Alger; loving mother of Larry (Chris), Daniel (Vicki), Gary, Michael, Stephen, Rosemary (Russell) Head, Patty (Gordon) Wartella, Karen Bell, and Peggy (Ken) Dudley; devoted grandmother of 20 and great- grandmother of seven. He was born in Winsor Township on October 29, 1937, son of the late William W. and Edna C. (Gregor) Buschlen. He graduated in 1956 from Pigeon High School. On June 7, 1958, he was united in marriage to Vivian M. Buchholz at Cross Lutheran Church, Pigeon. Mr. Buschlen farmed in the Pigeon area before moving to Mississippi in 1984. He continued to farm in Mississippi until his retirement. He was a member of Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon. He is survived by his wife, Vivian; and four children, Gwynne (John) Barry, of Pigeon, Leanne (Denny) Smith, of Caseville, Gregg (Kristi) Buschlen, of St. Joseph, and Brad (Tricia) Buschlen, of Oxford, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Aaron, Michelle, and Daniel Smith, Russell and Joshua Barry, and Ethan Buschlen; three sisters, Maxine Stirrett, of Pigeon, Grace Reibling, of Elkton, and Shirley (William) Zinnecker, of Cass City; two brothers, Duane Buschlen, of Pigeon, and Calvin (Ann) Buschlen, of Elkton; sister-in-law, Marie Buschlen, of Pigeon; and several nieces and nephews. Robert "Rob" Michael Lowe Rob Lowe, 23, of Deford, died suddenly on Tuesday, June 27, 2006, as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. He was born April 15, 1983 in Bad Axe to Michael and Diane (Stine) Lowe. Rob graduated from Cass City High School in 2002. He entered the U.S. Army National Guard and was assigned to B Battery 1-182 Field Artillery Battalion (MLRS). Rob recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq. He worked for Blue Line Trucking of Reese after returning from Iraq and currently for Sabreline Transportation, Inc., of Saginaw. Rob enjoyed racing and riding motorcycles, riding snowmobiles and working. Margie Lorraine Kramer Margie Lorraine Kramer, 84, of Kingston, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006, in her home. She was born March 18, 1922 in Marlette to Leo and Mary (McKenzie) Legg. She married William Marvin Kramer on Christmas Day, 1942 in Kingston. Margie attended County Normal. She taught school for several years in Michigan and New York and loved her work as a substitute teacher and librarian in Kingston Elementary School. She was a member of the White Creek Floral Club, Literary Club, Kingston United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women. Margie loved her activities with the Kingston schools, the community of Kingston and doing luncheons at Kingston United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and loved spending time with her family. Margie is survived by her husband, W. Marvin Kramer; children, Mary Lanna (Venard) Stark, of Kingston, Douglas (Paula) Kramer, of Kingston, Rodney (Janet) Kramer, of Kingston, and Joy (Rick Bow) Kramer Bow, of Kingston; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren with two more due soon; sister, Jane Anne Lalko, of Kingston; and many nieces and nephews. Armstrong Gene A. Armstrong, 83, of Bad Axe, died on Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. He was born on January 28, 1923 in South Bend, Indiana, son of the late John and Eva (Rhienholtz) Armstrong. Gene and Bernice Luettig were married on November 14, 1942 in Angola, Indiana. He served in the United States Army during World War II and retired from Ford Motor Company after working there for 22 years. Gene is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bernice, of Bad Axe; two daughters, Susan Austin, of Bad Axe and Gene (Elbert) Pursell, of Caseville; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. Arrangements are being handled by the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde. Patricia Ann Lewis Patricia Ann Lewis, 47, of Cheboygan, died tragically in an automobile accident on I-75 on Wednesday, June 28, 2006. She died instantly and is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was miraculously born on May 5, 1959 in Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. During her childhood, she resided in parsonages in Eagle and Ravenna before moving to Hope in 1966. She graduated from Sanford Meridian High School in 1977. On January 27, 1979, she married George Henry Lewis in the Hope United Methodist Church. In 1984, they moved to Nicholasville, Kentucky so that George could pursue his calling into the ministry at Asbury College and Asbury Seminary. She graciously and sacrificially supported her husband's United Methodist Church ministries in Kilmanagh, Unionville, Bay Shore Camp, Carleton, and Cheboygan St. Paul's. She loved singing and had a heartfelt passion for prayer ministry. She loved gardening, swimming, and playing games with her family and friends (especially spoons, peanuts, and chicken-legs). She also loved to cook homemade meals and desserts for family and friends. Her activities for the local church ranged from cooking meals, contemporary worship, a weekly prayer hour, leader of the prayer chain and publishing weekly and monthly prayer pages, Moms In Touch, International leader, Christian Women's Club hostess, church choirs, internet devotions, compassionate hugs for the hurting, and singing hymns at the bedsides of hospital and care facility patients. She was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. William Cozadd. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. George Lewis, of Cheboygan; her mother, Donna Cozadd, of Palmetto, Florida; her children, Daniel George (Sarah), of Mattawan, James William, of Ann Arbor, Jonathon Patrick, of Asbury College, Kentucky, and Christine Annamarie, of Cheboygan; her sisters, Bilene (Dr. Greg) Crabill, of South Bend, Indiana and Victoria Cozadd, of Palmetto, Florida; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, a nephew, and so many friends who loved her so much. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Lincoln Avenue in Cheboygan with a hymn sing following. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday. Burial will take place in the Hope Cemetery in Hope at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 3, with graveside services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a generous donation towards the Patricia Ann Lewis Memorial High School construction project of Caphaitian, Haiti. Checks can be made payable to St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Nordman Funeral Home is serving the family. Marilyn L. Paul Marilyn L. Paul, 74, of Cottonwood, Arizona and formerly of Pigeon, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2006, at the North Mountain Medical and Rehab Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Funeral services are incomplete and are being conducted by the Meyersieck- Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon. A complete obituary will be in a future edition of the Huron Daily Tribune. 1
