Sunday, March 26, 2006 David Carl Parrish Master David Carl Parrish, 3 days old, of Lake Wales, Florida, died on Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. He was born on Saturday, March 18, 2006, in Gainesville, Florida. Survivors include his parents, Chris and Melissa Parrish, of Lake Wales, Florida; maternal grandmother, Helen Haley, of Bad Axe; paternal grandfather, H. David and Lynida Parrish, of Lake Wales, Florida; paternal grandmother, Linda Parrish, of Marietta, Georgia; paternal great-grandmother, Tava Nimmo, of Marietta, Georgia; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. David was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Carl S. Haley; and sister, Ashley Rose. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at the Trinity Baptist Church in Lake Wales, Florida with the Rev. Larry Wallace officiating. Interment followed at the Lake Wales Cemetery. Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales, Florida was in charge of the arrangements. Monday, March 27, 2006 Bernice A. Arntz Bernice A. Arntz, 77, of Harbor Beach, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2006, at the Harbor Beach Hospital Long Term Care Unit. Bernice was born on May 16, 1928 in Detroit to the late Walter and Anastacia (Klowski) Kalka. She was married to Benjamin Arntz for 27 years. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2004. Bernice was a parish member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church. She is survived by two brothers, Richard (Margaret) Kalka, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Simon (Eleanor) Kalka, of Sterling Heights; one sister, Agnes Hayden, of Phoenix, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas J. Fleming officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Ramsey Funeral Home. Jerome R. Puvalowski Mr. Jerome R. Puvalowski, 45, of Bad Axe, died Saturday, March 25, 2006. Jerome was born on August 19, 1960 in Harbor Beach to the late Frank and Sylvia (Pawlowski) Puvalowski. He married Roxane M. Wolfe on November 9, 1985 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Parisville. Jerome was a 1977 graduate of Ubly High School. He was a certified duct cleaner and owner and operator of Country Air Duct Cleaning for ten years. Jerome was a member of the Moose Lodge in Rapson, the Thumb Sportsman's Club in Bad Axe and Pheasants Forever. He enjoyed hunting, especially deer hunting, planting flowers and being outdoors with Mother Nature. Jerome loved being with his daughters and all children. He is survived by his wife, Roxane, of Bad Axe; three daughters, Sarah, Renee and Kathrine, all at home; five brothers, Bernard Puvalowski and his wife, Betty, of Ruth, Leonard Puvalowski and his wife, Patricia, of Macomb Township, Raymond Puvalowski and his wife, Joyce, of Ruth, Eugene Puvalowski and his wife, Joann, of Utica, Robert Puvalowski, of Macomb Township; two sisters, Eleanor Messing and her husband, Norman, of Carsonville, Beatrice Tschirhart and her husband, Richard, of Berkley; two godchildren, Richie Tschirhart and Kimberly Pionk; mother-in-law, Maxine Wolfe, of Bad Axe; father-in-law, Dale Wolfe and his wife, Nancy, of Elkton; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Pionk and her husband, Marvin, of Bad Axe, Pamela Brown and her husband, Anthony, of Goodells, Polly Hessling and her husband, Melvin, of Bad Axe; two brothers-in-law, Michael Wolfe, of Elkton, and Timothy Wolfe and his wife, Cindy, of Ubly; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and John Puvalowski; one sister, Joann Puvalowski, and one infant brother-in-law, Allen Dale Wolfe. Neumann Martha S. Neumann, 95, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2006, at Vadavilla Adult Foster Care Home in Unionville. Martha was born on June 23, 1910 in Brookfield Township to the late Karl and Barbara (Schwenk) Weippert. She was united in marriage to Leonard Neumann on September 27, 1931 at New Salem Church in Sebewaing. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1998 after 66 years of marriage. Martha was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing and was active in the church's Ladies Aid Association. In her younger years, she enjoyed quilting and continued to love polka dancing, playing cards, and was a great genealogist. Martha is survived by four children and their spouses, Marilyn and Albert Prich, of Owendale, Arlene and Kenneth Gremel, of Sebewaing, Harlon and Sandra Neumann, of Sebewaing, and Sharon Mead, of Sebewaing; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother, Clara Woldt, Emelia Gawne, and Harold Weippert; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Martha was preceded in death by a grandchild, Elaine Prich; four sisters, Emma Meyer, Elsie Hutsell, Mary Wolfe and Sophie Bingham; five brothers, Carl, Herman, Otto, Albert and Arnold Weippert. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing with the Rev. Daniel Hahn officiating. ElDonna Parsell ElDonna Parsell, 76, of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia and formerly of Kingston, died Sunday, March 26, 2006, in Berkeley Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. She was born November 29, 1929 in Pigeon to Wesley and Emma (Stanley) Weidman. She married Harold Merrl Parsell on August 28, 1953 in Elkton. He died March 6, 1995 after 41 years of marriage. ElDonna worked for many years for Dibbles Dime Stores, Midwest Rotary and drove a school bus for Kingston Community Schools. ElDonna's main life work was milking cows on her farm. She loved children and showed that in the many children she took into her home, the many children she encouraged to farm by being a 4H Leader, a Sunday School Teacher and a Missionary Cadet Leader through Caro Free Methodist Church and Lamotte Missionary Church. ElDonna was a good cook and was well known for her fruitcake and fudge. ElDonna is survived by her children, Donald (Wilma) Parsell, of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, and Marilyn (George) Cox, of Caro; grandchildren, Codi (Dustin) Ford, Kaleb Parsell, Issac Parsell, Aaron (Tiffany) Parsell, Eli Parsell, Gordon Cox, Miranda (Robert) McMaster, MaDonna Cox; great grandchildren, Lyric, Haley, Serenity, Destiny, Mindy, Madilin, Robert Jr. (JJ); brother, Alvin (Sally) Weidman, of Whitmore Lake; sisters, Viola Borkholder, of Saginaw, Eileen Herman, of Elkton, Ruth (Lloyd) Wolfe, of Florida, Betty Parsell, of Pigeon; and many nieces and nephews. Clara Lillian Scheurer Clara Lillian (Peters) Scheurer, 92, of Pigeon, passed away Monday, March 27, 2006, at Huron County Medical Care Facility. Clara was born in Ubly on September 21, 1913 to the late Lisette (Reese) and Eckard Peters. On October 14, 1937, Clara and Dr. Clare Scheurer were united in marriage. They raised their family and established the Pigeon Clinic/Hospital. Dr. Clare preceded her in death on October 12, 1977 after almost 40 years of marriage. Mrs. Scheurer was a leader in Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts and involved in her community through Pigeon Worthwhile Club, PTA, Scheurer Hospital Auxiliary and the American Cancer Society. She loved to play golf and bridge. She was always the center of family events and will be greatly missed. Her leadership and perseverance are beacons for us all. Surviving are her children, Mary Louise Rummel, of Frankenmuth, Margaret McBride and her husband, Joseph, of Pigeon, Maurine Roth and her husband, Curtis, of Caseville, and Dr. Clare A. Scheurer Jr. and his wife, Marcia, of Port Huron; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, John Wesley Scheurer. Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Scheurer will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2006, in the Cross Lutheran Church with the Rev. Tom Zollner officiating. Wednesday, March 29, 2006 – No obituaries reported Thursday, March 30, 2006 Audrey Latimer Mrs. Audrey Latimer, 94, of Akron Township, passed away Tuesday evening, March 28, 2006, at her residence. She was born in Wisner Township on December 10, 1911, a daughter of Charles and Maggie (Strevel) Cosens. She married Theron Latimer on October 8, 1929. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1995 after 66 years of marriage. Audrey was a member of Wisner United Methodist Church and of its ladies aid society. She was a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed passing the time by quilting. Surviving are her sons, Alan (Marlene) Latimer, of Akron, and Walter (Marilyn) Latimer, of Unionville, and daughters, Mona (Albert) Graves, of Bay City, Cora (Donald) Smith, living in Caro, and Norma Bernia, of Sebewaing; 16 grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Charles (Pauline) Cosens Jr., of Akron; sister, Melba (Kenneth) Black, of Essexville; sister-in-law, Aeriel Cosens, of Akron. She was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Cosens; sisters, Olive Borton, Germain Mowry, and Vernice Nixon. The family has suggested memorials to the church, Bay Shore Camp or to the Gideons International. Friday, March 31, 2006 Geraldine R. Butts Geraldine R. Butts, 84, of Port Austin, was called to her heavenly home on Friday, March 24, 2006, following a short illness. She was born May 1, 1921, the daughter of the late Norbert and Laura (Fraser) Krapp. Geraldine graduated from St. Catherine High School on June 12, 1939. On May 5, 1966, Geraldine and Donald O. Butts were united in marriage in Hagerstown, Maryland. Prior to her husband's death on February 3, 1973, the couple had owned and operated a jewelry store in Detroit. Geraldine later settled in the Thumb area where she enjoyed senior citizen events, attending the meal site and other activities at the U and I Club in Port Austin where she was a member. She faithfully attended St. Michael's Catholic Church, Port Austin. Prior to her eyesight failing, she loved to play bingo and enjoyed quilting, cross stitch and embroidery projects. Surviving are her brother, Melvin Krapp and his wife, Loretta, of Warren; one step- granddaughter; a step-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and one brother, Leonard Krapp; and her sister, Corinne Krapp Nicholson. Cremation has taken place with arrangements made by Champagne Funeral Chapel, Inc. in Elkton. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin. Father Robert Pare will officiate at the Mass of Resurrection. Cook, 93, of Bad Axe, beloved mother, was called to the Lord after a short illness. She was born June 2, 1912 in Harbor Beach to the late Vincent and Anna (Rumptz) Puvalowski. She married Sylvester Cook on October 25, 1932. Blanche enjoyed spending time with her relatives and friends. She was a member of the Bad Axe Sacred Heart Church, the Over 50 Club at the church, the Bad Axe Senior Group, the Kinde Seniors, the U of I Club, and the Huron County Meal Site. Blanche is survived by her daughters, Alita Mae (Tony) Rutkowski, of Ubly, and Lilly L. Cook, of Bad Axe; godchildren, Noreen Wazny, of Caro, and Marian Vollmering, of Kentucky; a brother, Al Puvalowski, of Bad Axe; and sisters-in-law, Grace Puvalowski and Frances Labeski, both of Ubly. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Sylvester, in 1998; brothers, Raymond and Oscar Puvalowski; sisters, Regina Puvalowski and Lucille Grifka; and brother-in-law, Stanley. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe with Fr. Jim Carlson presiding. Burial will be in Verona Township Cemetery. Henrietta Josephine Feury Mrs. Henrietta Josephine Feury, 83, of Ubly, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2006, at her home. She was born on a farm near Forestville on August 2, 1922, daughter of the late Joseph and Anne (Hertzel) Philippi. She married Frank Feury on June 17, 1944 at St. John Catholic Church in Forestville. He preceded her in death on September 29, 1984 after 44 years of marriage. Henrietta lived in Ubly for 60 years. She was a parishioner at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly and an active member of St. John's Christian Mothers Circle No. 3, Mary Magdalene, for many years. She enjoyed being an Avon representative for the past 50 years. She was a past member of the Ubly Rose Society. She was active in the renovation of the Linwood Cemetery in Forestville. She was involved in the original organization of the Ubly Historical Society in 1996. She had remained very active and served as the Ubly Historical Society's vice president. She was also active in Ubly and Argyle Senior Groups. She enjoyed her garden, quilting, camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Henrietta is survived by one son, Michael Feury and his wife, Genny, of Bad Axe; two daughters, Carolyn Geiger and her husband, Neil, of Davison, and Roselyn Messing and her husband, Cliff, of Orion; one daughter-in-law, Marlene Feury, of Forestville; her late son, Richard, who passed away on May 25, 2003; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Esther Booms, of Ruth; many nieces and nephews; and good friend and neighbor, Claude Spelman, of Ubly. She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul; and one sister, Frances. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 3, 2006, at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. The Rev. Joseph Griffin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery in Forestville. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, from 2 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. 1
