Bletl, 29, of Bad Axe, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2006. She was born May 26, 1976 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to James Ray and Laura Ann (Rose) Robbins. Pamela grew up in the Lapeer area and moved to Caseville in 1992. She graduated from Caseville High School in 1994. On February 14, 2001, she was united in marriage to Matthew Bletl in Bad Axe. She is survived by four children, Alex, Christina, Brook and Drake, all at home; parents, Larry and Laura Fischer, of Caseville, and Ray Robbins, of Auburn Hills; five sisters, Tina (Ed) Robison, of Waterford, Sherri (Eric) Williams, of White Lake, Cindy (Paul) Mitchell, of Pontiac, Gidget (Dave) Wells, of Port Huron, and Charlene Kulkarni, of Dallas, Texas; three brothers, Brian Fischer, of Macon, Georgia, Tom (Sharon) Fischer, of Romeo, and Larry (Jane) Fischer, of Shelby Township; grandparents, Ray and Marine Fischer, of Pinnebog; a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Ray Robbins. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2006, at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. The Rev. Tom Collins will officiate. Visitation will be today from 2 to 9 p.m. and 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Waterford at a later date. Esther Doletzke Esther Doletzke, 96, of Harbor Beach, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2006, in the long term care unit of the Harbor Beach Community Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Port Hope on June 16, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Markgraf) Ruppel. On April 15, 1950, Esther and Edward Doletzke were united in marriage in Detroit. Ed preceded her in death on August 18, 1957. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Harbor Beach. Surviving are nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by four sisters, Ada Windemuth, Elizabeth Schumann, Emily Scherer, and Emma Ciliak; and by three brothers, Alex, Henry, and David Ruppel. Funeral graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2006, at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit. Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor Beach, is handling arrangements. Rebecca Lange On Thursday, January 26, 2006, Rebecca Lange, 89, left us to be with her Lord Jesus Christ. All the angels are rejoicing with us to welcome her home. Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband, also, and he praises her, saying, "Many daughters have done nobly, but you excel them all." Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who reverences the Lord, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:28-30. Rebecca was born on August 24, 1916 in Port Hope, daughter of the late William and Mary (Hubbard) Iseler. On May 23, 1936, she married Edwin O. Lange. They enjoyed 64 years together. He preceded her to glory on July 8, 2000. She is survived by her children, Marilee (Allen) Jerome, Dean (Faith) Lange, and Stephen (Judy) Lange, all of Midland; Ron (Cheryl) Lange, of Fallbrook, California, and Richard (Kelly) Lange, of Sterling Heights. In addition to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was known as "Grandma Lange" to many who knew her. Rebecca was a loving and faithful servant to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, an example of God's love. One of her favorite pastimes was having family gatherings for a home cooked meal with fresh baked cookies and hot cinnamon rolls. Nothing brought her more joy than hearing her grandchildren running through the house. She made each and every one feel like they were her favorite, as they were! Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2006, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1550 Poseyville Road. Pastor Greg Finke will officiate with burial in the Poseyville Cemetery. William John Peters William John Peters, 62, of Lake Orion, died Thursday, January 26, 2006, peacefully after a long battle with leukemia. Beloved husband of Marlene; dear father of Connie (David) Little, of Lake Orion, William John II (Maria), of Rochester Hills, and Charles (Krista), of Macomb Township. Loving grandfather of Shana, Corey, William John III, Anne, and Kyle; son of Clara Peters and the late Roy; brother of Jane Osentoski, Emelie Heleski, Lucille Kubacki, Aleta Mattseon, James, Alan, Patrick, Brian, Kenneth, and the late Danny. Mr. Peters was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and was retired from Oakland County Printing Department. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed the outdoors in many ways, including playing with his grandchildren. Monday, January 30, 2006 Evelyn M. Jones Evelyn M. Jones, 99, of Caseville, died Friday, January 27, 2006, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. She was born on March 23, 1906 in Mount Clemens, daughter of the late Ray and Maude (Davis) Welch. She and Samuel N. Jones were married on September 9, 1933 in Angola, Indiana. He preceded her in death on August 14, 2003. Evelyn graduated as a registered nurse from Harper Hospital in Detroit and worked there for many years. She and her husband moved from Royal Oak to Caseville in 1969. Evelyn was a past Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed spending her time caring for children and playing bridge. She is survived by her daughter, Judy J. (LeRoy) Miller, of Kinde; two grandchildren, David (Marcy) LeMaster, of Caseville, and Dawn (Wally) Foster, of Tecumseh; and four great-grandchildren, Jenne, Michael, Brandon and Kailyn LeMaster. Evelyn was preceded in death by one son, Raymond. Cremation is taking place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. A private memorial service will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Huron County Medical Care Facility. Arrangements are being handled by the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde. Timothy W. Stalter Timothy W. Stalter, 91, of Pigeon, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2006, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. He was born in Elida, Ohio on November 1, 1914, son of the late Christian and Salome (Good) Stalter. On October 30, 1938, he was united in marriage to Daisy C. Yoder Miller at the Pigeon River Mennonite Church by the Rev. Michael Zehr. They had been married more than 62 years when she preceded him in death on August 10, 2001. Mr. Stalter was a farmer and worked for Dietzel Electric as an electric motor repairman for 25 years. He also enjoyed stained glass work. He loved his family and always enjoyed having his family around. For more than 25 years, he and Daisy enjoyed traveling to Florida together. He was a member of the Michigan Avenue Mennonite Church in Pigeon. Mr. Stalter is survived by four sons, Darwin (Harriet) Stalter, of Gagetown, Delton (Dee) Stalter, of Millersburg, Ohio, Gary Stalter, of Spartansburg, South Carolina, and Randy Stalter, of Millersburg, Ohio; eight grandchildren; four step- grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Galen; four brothers, Henry, Edward, Ezra, and J. Mark; and two sisters, Zelma and Mary Stalter. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2006, at the Michigan Avenue Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Scot Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Tuesday, January 31, 2006 Kevin Joseph Gentner Kevin Joseph Gentner, 44, of Romeo, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2006, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was born September 14, 1961, the son of Don and Maryann (Essenmacher) Gentner in Sandusky. He married his loving wife, Tammy Marie Smith, on October 4, 1997 in Huron City. He attended the school at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth, graduated from Harbor Beach High School, and went on to get his bachelors of science degree at Oakland University. He graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors. He worked for Daimler Chrysler Corporation at Detroit Axel as a machine repairman. He attended St. Mathesia Catholic Church in Sterling Heights. Kevin is survived by his wife, Tammy Marie, of Romeo; daughters, Erica Marie, of Bad Axe, and Kelly Anne, of Romeo; parents, Donald and Maryann Gentner; siblings, Gail (Bruce) Maurer, of Ruth, Karen (Mike) Galloway, of Portage, Diane (Wayne) Lemanski, of Niles, Tom (Anne) Gentner, of Chicago, Illinois, Lynn (Jim) Guzi, of Berkley, Denise (Greg) Mausolf, of Troy, Beth (Don) Fischer, of Kinde, Mike (Jen) Gentner, of Northville, and Brian (Shelly) Gentner, of Lake Orion. Elmer F. Nieschulz Elmer Eldo Frederick Nieschulz, 87, of Owendale, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2006, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility. He was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on May 26, 1918, son of the late Herman and Martha (Gallant) Nieschulz. He graduated from St. John Evangelical Lutheran School in Berne. On July 30, 1949, he was united in marriage to Betty L. Gerstenschlager at Zion Lutheran Church in Harbor Beach. She survives him. Mr. Nieschulz farmed with his father and brothers through 1963, when he retired because of illness. He delivered motor homes and trailers for Marlette Homes both in Michigan and out-of-state for many years, and worked for Vollmer Ready Mix as well. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Berne, where he was confirmed on May 17, 1931. In addition to Betty, his wife of 56 years, he is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Bill) Renn, of Pigeon, and Gloria Nieschulz, of North Branch; a son, Dennis Nieschulz, of Pinconning; nine grandchildren, Roger (Jean) Renn, Marcia (Greg) Roggenbuck, Rebecca (Charles) Munson, Sarah (Ryan) Stockton, Amy Parshall, Carrie Bach, Brian Nieschulz, Benjamin Nieschulz, and Sally Nieschulz; six great- grandchildren, Leo Roggenbuck, Ted Roggenbuck, Kathryn Munson, Hannah Parshall, Mya Parshall, and Collen Wruble; two step great-grandchildren, Rueben and Brittany Renn; two sisters, Jane Bell and Esther Nieschulz, both of Lapeer; and a brother, Emil Nieschulz, of Pigeon. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Martin Herman Renn; three brothers, infant Clarence, Gerhardt, and Lyle; and a sister, Arvella Heck. Wednesday, February 1, 2006 Catherine Davidson Catherine "Mellendorf" Davidson, 79, of Gagetown, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2006, at Bay Medical Care Facility in Essexville. She was born on April 24, 1926 in Filion to the late Thomas and Mary Prudence (Mousseau) Quinn. She was united in marriage to Norris Mellendorf in 1946 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death in 1969. Catherine was a lifelong resident of Gagetown. She enjoyed traveling to Arizona, gardening, canning, and visiting with her friends and family. She attended St. Agatha's Catholic Church in Gagetown and was a member of the American Bowling Association for more than 60 years. She is survived by one son, Milton Mellendorf, of Bay City; one daughter, Arlene Thomas and her husband, Pete, of Essexville; two brothers, Lester Quinn and his wife, Ina, of Marlette, and Thomas "Mike" Quinn, of Mesa, Arizona; one sister, Avalon Parrish, of Kinde; special extended family, Ray Caverly and his wife, Carol, of Gagetown; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Francis Quinn. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2006, at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Joan Wyskiel will officiate. Karle III, 28, of Sebewaing, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2006, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident near Unionville. He was born in Pigeon on December 24, 1977, the son of Frank R. II and Odile J. (Smith) Karle and was baptized at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Pigeon. He attended grade school in Cass City and graduated in 1997 from Unionville-Sebewaing Area High School. He was united in marriage to Laura Hartman in Caro on May 1, 1998. She survives him. Frank enjoyed skeet shooting and fishing, and when he had time, he hunted deer and rabbit. He loved being with his family and his children. In addition to his wife, Laura, he is survived by two sons, Zachary and Tyler Karle, both of Sebewaing; his parents, Frank R. II and Odile J. Karle, of Unionville; his grandfather, Richard J. Smith, of Ohio; two sisters, Jackie Karle, of Pigeon, and Carol Woolner, of Elkton; and many nieces and nephews; his in-laws; seven brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frank and Delores Karle; and his maternal grandmother, Jacquline Smith. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2006, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church with Sr. Theresa Fox, O.P., presiding. Burial will be in Grand Lawn Cemetery. Coleen Koglin Coleen (Kiehl) Koglin, 44, of Port Hope, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at the home of her mother, under hospice care, with her family at her side. She was born on April 4, 1961 in Bad Axe, daughter of William and Sharon (Anderson) Kiehl. She married Robert Koglin on December 3, 1983 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Hope. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing and bowling on leagues. She is survived by her husband, Robert Koglin, of Port Hope; four sons, Johnathon, Allan, Matthew, and Eric Koglin; mother, Sharon Kiehl, of Bad Axe; maternal grandfather, Floyd Anderson, of Bay City; mother-in-law, Elaine Koglin, of Port Hope; one sister, Janet (Boyd) Buschlen, of Bad Axe; two brothers, Rusty Kiehl, of Traverse City, and Jeffrey (Amy) Kiehl, of Bad Axe; two sisters-in-law, Donna (Frank) Inda, of Port Austin, and Debbie (Martin) Burzyck, of Elkton; two brothers-in-law, Leroy Koglin, and Duane (Bonnie) Koglin, both of Port Hope; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorials may be offered to St. John's Lutheran Church or Hospice. Pastor Gordon W. Gossman Pastor Gordon W. Gossman, 43, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at his La Junta home. Gordon was born August 22, 1962 to Josephine and Joseph Gossman in Baldwin Park, California. He married Alicia "Lisa" Hart on July 13, 1991 in Banning, California. Gordon graduated from the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs in 1996. He then was Pastor at the Church of the Nazarene in Bad Axe, Michigan for five and a half years, and later at the First Church of the Nazarene in La Junta for three and a half years. Gordon was a wonderful caring husband, father, brother and friend and will be greatly missed. Pastor Gordon is survived by his wife, Alicia "Lisa", and sons, Andrew Allan, Jonathan Michael, and Stephen Joseph, of the La Junta home; brother, Dr. J. Vaughn (Becca) Gossman, of Clovis, New Mexico; sister, Glenda (Jim) Harvey, of Lake Arrowhead, California; brother, Robert "Bob" (Leeanne) Gossman, of Federal Way, Washington; sister, Nita (Mark) Fitzpatrick, of Hesperia, California; and numerous nieces & nephews. Pastor Gordon was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2006, at the First Church of the Nazarene in La Junta, Colorado. Abraham Mr. Sylvester F. Abraham, 87, of Bad Axe, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at the Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Bad Axe with his family by his side under the care of Hospice Advantage of Bay City. He was born on February 10, 1918 in Paris Township to the late August and Otylia (Uller) Abraham. He married Doris (Palach) Spencer on September 2, 1946 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Lansing. She preceded him in death on March 10, 1979. He married Arline (Pulcer) Glaza on June 11, 1983 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Sylvester attended the St. Mary Catholic School in Parisville. He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 in the Pacific Theatre. He owned and operated a fleet of milk trucks, hauling milk to the Fairmont Milk Company and the Michigan Milk Company. He worked for the Michigan DHIA (Dairy Herd Improvement Association), retiring after many years of service. He was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. He was a member of the Pigeon VFW No. 2236. He enjoyed woodworking, bowling, golfing, dancing and visiting with family. Sylvester is survived by his wife, Arline Abraham, of Bad Axe; two sons, Mark Abraham and his wife, Lisa, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lindsay Abraham and his wife, Debra, of Standish; one daughter, Sara Anderson and her husband, William, of Bad Axe; seven grandchildren, Damon, Zac, Adam, Dale, Anna Belle, Ashley and Willy; four great-grandchildren; four step-children, Valarie Kuzma and her husband, Peter, of Troy, Clifford Glaza and his wife, Barbara, of Ubly, Gary Glaza and his wife, Sandra, of Saginaw, David Glaza and his wife, Pauline, of Waterville, Ohio; 11 step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one brother, August Abraham and his wife, Agnes, of Minden City; five sisters, Elizabeth Zurack, of Eastpointe, Rita Shaw and her husband, George, of Elkton, Frances Heleski, of Harbor Beach, Margaret Alent, of Ubly, Molly Depcinski and her husband, Eugene, of Bad Axe. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Stanley, John, Adam, Joseph, Tony, and Eugene Abraham; two sisters, Rose Pawlosky and Pauline Abraham. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. The Rev. Joseph Griffin, of St. John Catholic Church in Ubly will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery in Pigeon with graveside services provided by the Pigeon VFW Post No. 2236. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly from 1:30 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Christina Ann Eilers Christina Ann Eilers, 81, of Bad Axe, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2006, at her home. She was born on July 24, 1924 to the late August and Mary Kubacki. She was united in marriage to the late Alvin Eilers on February 23, 1946 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Smith Corners. Christina was a resident of Bad Axe and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She worked in healthcare for many years at Sunny Acres Nursing Home, Huron Medical Center, and Tendercare Home Health. After her retirement, she loved being with and traveling to see her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed polka music, gardening, delivering Meals on Wheels, senior bus trips, bingo, and assisting the Special Olympics as a bowling partner. Chris is survived by four daughters, Barbara Eilers, of New Orleans; Mary (Robert) Corbett, of Lansing, and their children, Erin and William; Pauline (James) Myler, of Gaylord, and their children, James, Christian, Aaron, Rebekah, and Emily; and Donna Falardeau, of Waterford, and her daughter, Abigail; and seven sons, Donald (Gay) Eilers, of Port Huron, and their children, James (Deborah), Eric, and Elizabeth (Jason) Heffner; Alvin (Lynne) Eilers, of Traverse City, and their daughter, Laura (Anthony) Tridico; Charles (Sue) Eilers, of Millington, and their children, Brian, Michelle, and Pam (Travis) Cooper; David (Jeanne) Eilers, and their children, Chris (Laura), Katherine, and Matthew; Michael (Dianne) Eilers, of Bad Axe, and their children, Noelle, Marcy, Ryan (Frances), and Rory; Steven (Sheila) Eilers, of Sanger, Texas, and their children, Jenny, Sam, Alex, Holly, Hannah, and Haley. Christina's grandchildren have blessed her with nine great-grandchildren, Addison and Conner Eilers; John and Anthony Tridico; Adrianna, Kate, and Travis Cooper; and Freddie Santiago and Tyler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; one son-in-law, William Falardeau; one granddaughter, Hannah Myler; and one brother, Felix Kubacki. Arnold William "Bill" Elvin Arnold William "Bill" Elvin, 90, of Colfax Township, a fourth generation Huron County farmer, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at his home. He was born August 15, 1915 in Bad Axe to the late Fred and Viola (Faist) Elvin. He was united in marriage in 1946 to Bonita Marsa. She preceded him in death on July 6, 1968. He then married Ida Carli on July 10, 1971 in Bad Axe. Mr. Elvin was a resident of Colfax Township, where he farmed. He attended the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Bad Axe. He enjoyed lawn cutting, gardening, dancing, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Ida, of Colfax Township; three sons, Fred Elvin, of Oakland, Frank Elvin and his wife, Marcia, of Hadley Township, and Larry Elvin, of Imlay Township; one sister, Audrey Horner, of Haslett; three grandchildren, Tricia Dole, Bill Elvin, and Jim Elvin; three great-grandchildren, Kaden, Taryn, and McKenna; three step-grandchildren, Tim, Dan, and Deborah; and several nieces and nephews. Ricky Harvey Learman Ricky Harvey Learman, 48, of Bad Axe, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at his home in Bad Axe. Ricky was born August 5, 1957 in Bad Axe to the late Harry and Doris (Krug) Learman. He grew up in the Bad Axe area and graduated from Bad Axe High School. He had been employed by U.S. Manufacturing. He was a proud member of the Bad Axe Fire Department and Auxiliary. Ricky is survived by his daughter, Beverly, of Ellsworth, Maine; brothers, Ron (Carol), of Harbor Beach, Dennis (Debbie), of Elkton, Randy (Debbie), of Indiana; and a sister, Diane (Jackie) Lewis, of Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Perry. Catherine Seidl Mrs. Catherine Seidl, 89, of Ruth, went home to her Lord on Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at Hurley Medical Center in Flint due to injuries she sustained in a house fire. Catherine was born on June 5, 1916 in Winnepeg, Canada. She married Paul Seidl on June 15, 1936 at St. John Catholic Church in Detroit. He preceded her death on January 22, 1998. She was a graduate of a country school. She farmed with her husband and family. She was famous for Catherine's paczki. She was happy being a service to others. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross for many years, working at blood drives. She also volunteered at the Harbor Beach Long Term Care. She was a parishioner at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth all her life and was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Christian Mothers. She also participated in many church functions and school activities.
