Bailey Irene O. Bailey, 65, of Brookfield Township near Owendale, died peacefully Sunday morning, March 11, 2007, at her home. She was born May 13, 1941 in Bad Axe to the late Orville and Osie (McAlpine) Bailey. Irene lived in the Bad Axe-Elkton-Owendale area all her life. She enjoyed crafts, making things with her hands and playing cards. She was a member of the Bad Axe Church of the Nazarene. Surviving are three brothers, Robert (Jean) Bailey, of Bad Axe, Orville Bailey Jr., of Bad Axe, and Dennis (Sandra) Bailey, of Pigeon; her sister, Joyce Bosley, of Saginaw; and many, many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton, where friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Bieri, 72, of Unionville, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Bay Regional Medical Center in Bay City. She was born June 18, 1934 in Roseville, daughter of the late John C. and Pauline M. (Brashaw) Bieri. She had been employed at the Michigan Sugar Company in Sebewaing for many years and at the Owendale Speedway. Kathy enjoyed playing bingo. Surviving are one son, Donald Wilson, of Cape Coral, Florida; two daughters, Donna Phillips, of Sebewaing, and Denise (Robert) Hempton, of Gagetown; grandchildren, Brandon Lopez, Keri (David) Miller, Jason (Barbara) Phillips, Christopher (fiancée, Jenny) Phillips, Nicole (Harvey) Reaver, Daniel Hempton, Jessie Hempton; great grandchildren, Hope Reaver, Ryan Reaver, Lana Phillips, and Gage Lopez; also one sister, Pauline Bright, of Leesburg, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Gladys Bieri; three sisters, Helen King, Florence Dorsch, and Thelma Pant; five brothers, Pete, Jack, Donald, Robert, and Gerald Bieri. Howard, 91, of Sebewaing, died Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Heartland Health Care Center-Hampton in Bay City following a two-month illness. She was born March 8, 1916 in Honeywell, Kentucky, daughter of the late Wirt and Susan Bell (Caudle) Crum. She was married to Willard G. Jackson on August 5, 1933 in Kentucky. They moved to Sebewaing May 27, 1950. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1960. She then married Elmer Howard on August 22, 1981 in Bay Port. He died July 17, 1983. Margaret had been a cook in various restaurants in the area for many years before retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Faith Bible Baptist Church in Bay Port, also the Missionary League. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and tending to her flowers. Surviving are three sons, three daughters and their spouses, Garrett (Myrtle) Jackson, of Sebewaing, Raymond H. Jackson, of Hermitage, Tennessee, Willard Jackson, of Essexville, Gail (Frank) Burgett, of Sebewaing, Louise (Robert) Harris, of Bad Axe, Mildred (Carl) Reinke, of Bay City; 32 grandchildren; 59 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; one sister, Lucy Dehart, of Flatwoods, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Beatrice Crum, of Argillite, Kentucky; many nieces and nephews; one stepson, David (Sandy) Howard, of Old Town, Kentucky; and stepdaughter, Joyce (Douglas) Felty, of Hopewell, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by infant daughter, Thelma; infant son, Grant; sons, Dale Jackson, in 1970, and Garhald, in 2005; two sisters, Gladys Traylor and Mary Martin; and six brothers, Arthur, James, Ray, Albert, Hubert, and Bill Crum. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at the Faith Bible Baptist Church, Bay Port. The Rev. Philip A. Koehn, 82, of Harbor Beach, passed away Friday, March 9, 2007, at Harbor Beach Community Hospital under the care of Heartland Hospice. She was born April 24, 1924 in Sand Beach Township to the late William and Hazel (Hill) Brown. Geraldine married Elmer Koehn on June 29, 1940. Elmer preceded her in death on September 24, 2001. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Harbor Beach, and a member of the Zion Ladies Aide. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Geraldine loved to cook and bake for friends and family and liked to go on casino trips and play bingo. Leeson, 65, of Cass City, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in Baptist Hospital, Pensacola, Florida, following a short illness. He was born August 5, 1941 in Cass City to Russel and Mary (Mark) Leeson. He married Linda W. Hulien on February 6, 1965 in Cass City United Methodist Church. She died January 8, 2002. Fred later married Michelle Zdrojewski on December 10, 2005. Fred graduated from Cass City High School in 1959 during which he was awarded the Paul Smarks Award for athletics. He received his bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. Fred worked for Delphi in Saginaw as a Production Control and Logistics Manager, retiring after many years of service. He loved life and enjoyed golf and spending time with family and friends. Fred is survived by his wife, Michelle; son, F. Joe (Jill) Leeson Jr., of Cass City; grandchildren, Stephanie Leeson and Fred Leeson III; sister, Charlene (Dan) Sutherland, of Almont; and many nieces and nephews. John Talos John Talos, 70, of Port Austin, died Friday, March 10, 2007, at Covenant Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born October 8, 1936 in Somerset, Pennsylvania, son of the late Charles and Mary (Moldovan) Talos. John and Jo Ann Feys were married September 30, 1960 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Detroit. John was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin and the American Legion Frank Horetski Post 499 in Port Austin. He served actively in the United States Army as well as in the United States Air Force Reserves. He worked as a Teamster driver for 26 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a friend to everyone. John is survived by his wife, Jo Ann, of Port Austin; four children, John Talos, of Port Austin, Lynn (Raymond) Leggett, of Bloomfield Hills, Charles Jr. (Leah) Talos, of Kinde, and Leslie (John) Saba, of Sterling Heights; and six grandchildren, John, Elizabeth, Thomas, Gabrielle, Chuckie and Ramie. He was preceded in death by one sister, Theresa. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin. Officiating will be the Rev. Chesney, Sr. Richard J. Chesney Sr., 58, of Beaverton, died suddenly Saturday, March 10, 2007, at MidMichigan Medical Center in Gladwin. He was born May 30, 1948 in Huron County to James and Annabell (Fahner) Chesney. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He lived in Gladwin County for 20 years and worked in maintenance. He is survived by two sons, Richard J. and Lisa Chesney Jr., of Jacksonville, Florida, and Michael Chesney and Debbie Corzine, of Gladwin; two daughters, Deborah Wilkinson, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Mary and Jamie Rudabaugh, of Texas; eight grandchildren; sisters, Sharon Brown, of Keego Harbor, and Cathy and Larkin Ervin, of Beaverton; brother, John and Marlene Chesney, of Clarkston; parents, James H. and Annabell Chesney, of Gladwin; and several nieces and nephews. Albertia Hiller Albertia Hiller, 78, of Bad Axe, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2007, at her home. She was born April 21, 1928 in Colfax Township to the late Cecil and Katherine (MacAlpine) Armstead. She was united in marriage to Durrelle Hiller. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1972. Mrs. Hiller worked for years in Joe Volz's Restaurant. She also enjoyed collecting and swapping recipes and won the recipe contest of the Huron Daily Tribune. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Randall, 80, of Bad Axe, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2007, at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe, peacefully with her family at her side, following a courageous 5-year battle with cancer. She was born November 19, 1926 in Meade Township, daughter of the late Cyril and Anna (McLaughlin) Cregeur. She married Sam P. Randall on August 30, 1947 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1992. Shirley Jean Ringvelski Shirley Jean Ringvelski, 75, of Bad Axe, passed away Monday, March 12, 2007, at Bay Medical Regional Center in Bay City. She was born August 1, 1931 in Detroit to the late Joseph and Helen (Koshorek) Tlalka. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Ringvelski on February 16, 1957. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1987. Mrs. Ringvelski was a resident of Bad Axe and she retired from the Huron County Medical Care Facility in 1995 after 16 years. She enjoyed flowers, puzzles and visiting with her family and friends. She is survived by four sons, Steven Ringvelski, of Bad Axe, David Ringvelski, of Bad Axe, James Ringvelski, of Bad Axe, and Jeffrey (Gretchen) Ringvelski, of Fort Gratiot; one brother, Arnold Tlalka, of Clinton Township; one sister, Marilyn Brown, of Sterling Heights; and two granddaughters, Madeline and Meredith Ringvelski. Wednesday, March 14, 2007 Pauline Otillia Regentin Pauline Otillia Regentin, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep two years after a debilitating stroke on Friday, March 9, 2007, in Hood River, Oregon. Pauline was born October 12, 1913 on a farm in Kinde. The oldest of three girls, she helped her father deliver milk with a horse and wagon. She washed the milk bottles for ten cents a day. After graduating from high school at age 16, Pauline attended school for one year at the County Normal School before going on to teach eight grades in a one room schoolhouse for seven years. She married a teacher and superintendent of schools, Edward Regentin, and they ran a farm for most of their 54 years together. They also taught in parochial schools and supported the home education movement. Together they had five sons. Pauline was relieved when her sons became old enough to drive the tractor so she didn't have to do it anymore. She loved to cook and extended generous hospitality to all who graced her table. Just before her 80th birthday, Pauline and her husband left the farm that her grandparents had homesteaded and where she had been born and raised to follow the Oregon Trail to Hood River to live close to their youngest son, Ted, and his family. Pauline was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Hood River. Edward preceded Pauline in death in 1999 and Pauline lived with her son's family until her stroke when she moved to the Hood River Care Center. Her deep faith in her Lord Jesus Christ daily sustained and strengthened her. Her greatest joy was listening to sermons and hymns. She was a godly example to many. Pauline is survived by one sister, Mrs. Alma Jenkins, of Virginia; sons, Curtis Regentin and his wife, Jeanne, of Harbor Springs, Trilbus Regentin, of Alameda, California, Frederick Regentin and his wife, Marilyn, of Hackettstown, New Jersey, Ted Regentin and his wife, Pamela, of Parkdale, Oregon; 13 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; son, Ernst; and sister, Geraline Griffith. A service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2007, at the Parkdale Community Church with interment in Parkdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held beginning at 2 p.m. on Monday at the church. Boynton, 69, of Harbor Beach, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at Covenant Cooper Hospital in Saginaw. Born on November 15, 1937 in Munising, he was the son of the late Charles and Eleanor (Croschere) Boynton. Lee and Nancy Jensen were united in marriage on May 8, 1959 in Manistique. He was a member of the Airborne Division of the U.S. Army in Germany. Lee was an operator of Heavy Equipment for the Huron County Road Commission for 30 years retiring in 2000. Lee is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Harbor Beach, 2 sons; Tommy Boynton and his wife, Barb, of Garden, Michigan, and Russell Boynton and his wife, Roni, of Harbor Beach. 2 daughters, Carrie and Ken Dekoski, of Harbor Beach, and Robin Boynton, of Harbor Beach. 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A son-in-law, Michael Lester, of Garden, Michigan, 2 brothers, Robert Boynton, of Iowa, and Conrad Boynton. 2 sisters, Bonnie (Richard) Rocheford, of Minnesota, and Jacky Boynton, of Minnesota, 2 half brothers, Glenn Braemer and James Braemer. Friday, March 16, 2007 George R. "Bob" Finan George R. "Bob" Finan, 85, of Port Austin, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. He was born August 19, 1921 in Port Austin, son of the late Harold and Belma (Schoinere) Finan. Bob and Matilda "Tida" Schwedler were married August 31, 1946 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin. Bob graduated from Western Michigan University and served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He was a lifelong resident of Port Austin and owned and operated Finan's Store in Port Austin from 1954 until 1996. He served on the Huron County Road Commission, the Port Austin Fire Department, the Huron County Planning Commission, the board of directors of Port Austin State Bank, and as the Port Austin township supervisor. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Port Austin Lions Club, the U & I, the American Legion Frank Horetski Post 499, the Grindstone Port Hope Sportsman's Club, the Port Austin Historical Society, and the Port Austin Art Guild. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, traveling and spending time with his family. Bob is survived by his wife, Matilda "Tida", of Port Austin; three sons, Tim (Amelia) Finan, of Tucson, Arizona, Bob Finan, of Port Austin, and Pat (Pam) Finan, of Dallas, Texas; three daughters, Kathy (Chuck) Patterson, of Denver, Colorado, Jeanie (Dennis) Lupcke, of Saginaw, and Margaret (Dave) Guitar, of Harbor Beach; 18 grandchildren, Fred, Padraic, Vinny, Shannon, Karl, Sarah, Kristen, Adam, Matthew, Hollie, Maggie, Jessica, Steven, Julia, Allison, Mike, Keith and Kenzie; and three great grandchildren, Theo, Padraic and Jack. A vigil will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home. Elwood Hacker Elwood Hacker, 71, of Sheridan Township, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at his home. Elwood was born in Austin Township, Sanilac County, on October 22, 1935 to the late Albert John and Cora (Puterbaugh) Hacker. He was united in marriage to Jewell E. Little on November 29, 1958 in Bad Axe. Mr. Hacker was a member of Faith Gospel Tabernacle. He was a farmer and was employed as a production worker for General Motors for 31 years before retiring July 1, 1985. He enjoyed antique cars, farming, tractors, attending auctions and especially spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Jewell; three sons, Jerry D. Hacker, of Port Austin, Brian D. Hacker (Melissa), of Ubly, and Patrick C. Hacker, of Ubly; a sister, Louise Stierman, of Argyle; six grandchildren, Nicole Kappen, Hannah Cohen, Courtney N. Hacker, Katelyn R. Hacker, Bradley E. Hacker, and Meghan A. Hacker. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill Clinton Hacker, Norman Cecil Hacker, Herbert Dean Hacker, and J.D. Hacker; and a sister, Leora DiPaola. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2007, at the Faith Gospel Tabernacle. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the Tabernacle. Memorials may be offered to the Family Discretionary Fund. Roger J. Kling Roger J. Kling, 68, of Saginaw and formerly of Owendale, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw following a six-month illness. He was born February 28, 1939 in Detroit, son of the late Matthew C. and Vaneta M. (McCullough) Kling. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Kay Howard on March 5, 1979 in Lucas County, Ohio. Roger was the superintendent of the D.P.W. in the village of Owendale for 25 years before retiring in 2002. They had lived in Owendale until moving to Saginaw five years ago. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1963. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Cass City Council No. 90 R & SM. Surviving are his wife, Kathryn of Saginaw; one son; two daughters and their spouses, Ricky and Rehana Brown, of Bay City, Cynthia and Tony Valdez, of San Diego, California, Beckie and Dave Peruski, of Cass City; eight grandchildren, Crystal, Whitney, Kaegan, Madeline Brown, Esteban, Caleb Valdez, Dillon, Colby Peruski; and one sister, Nancy J. Whaley, of Arizona. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City. The Rev. John Heim will officiate with burial in Grant Township Cemetery near Gagetown. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. The Masonic Lodge, Cass City Council No. 90 R & SM, will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home Friday evening. Messing, 91, of Bad Axe, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at Courtney Manor of Bad Axe. Andrew was born July 30, 1915 in Ruth to the late Henry and Helen (Tenbusch) Messing. He married Genevieve Terbrack in 1934 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. She passed away December 25, 2002. Andrew attended SS. Peter and Paul Elementary School. He farmed all his life. Andrew worked for Kilpatrick Dairy Farm in Kinde for a few years before retiring in 1977. He then worked for Weiss Dairy Farm in Port Hope for ten years. Andrew enjoyed pheasant and rabbit hunting and sucker fishing. Andrew is survived by two sons, Alvin Messing Sr. and his special friend, Linda Franzel, of Ubly and Paul Messing and his special friend, Kathy, of Cass City; one daughter, Betty Mausolf and her husband, Robert, of Harbor Beach; 15 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; one brother, Leonard Messing and his wife, Theresa, of Harbor Beach; and one sister, Dorothy Roggenbuck, of Harbor Beach. Andrew was preceded in death by one daughter, Doris Goniwicha, on July 2, 1996; six sisters, Anna Essenmacher, Magdaline Kranz, Eleanor Adler and her husband, John, Helen Kirsch, Clara Clor, Irene Samulski; and four brothers, Lawrence, Leo, Walter and Arthur Messing. A funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2007, at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. The Rev. John Rapson, pastor of the Minden City United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be private in the Argyle Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Zinger- Smigielski Funeral Home. Arthur "Art" A. Morell Arthur "Art" A. Morell, 92, of Ubly, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Courtney Manor of Bad Axe. Art was born August 2, 1914 in Sanilac County's Austin Township to the late Isadore and Josephine (Osentoski) Morell. He married Pauline Fessler on January 5, 1963 in Caro. She preceded him in death on October 17, 2006. Art attended the Proctor Country School. He graduated from Ubly High School in 1932. He farmed for many years before working at Sargents Construction Company in Saginaw and then at Caro Michigan Sugar. He loved to play euchre with his family and friends, working in his garden and taking lots of crop tours. Art is survived by two daughters, Rose Ann Emming and her husband, Joe, of Ruth, and Janice Peyerk and her husband, Jim, of Cass City; two sons, Larry Morell and his wife, Cindy, of Ubly, and James Morell and his special friend, Michele Newbegin, of Ubly; four stepchildren, Jane Noto and her husband, Gerry, of Lachine, Linda Zittel and her husband, Gerald, of Vassar, Diane Kingsland, of Cass City, and Ted Robinson, Jr. and his special friend, Peggy Van Meter, of Fairgrove; 26 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; four sisters, Irene Guarnieri, of Oak Beach, Margaret Hey, of Bad Axe, Genevieve Gracey and her husband, Roland, of Bad Axe, and Bernice Witkowski and her husband, Stanley, of Saginaw; one brother, Floyd Morell, of Ubly; one sister-in-law, Ann Morell, of Ubly; and many nieces and nephews. Art was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Michael Morell; two sisters, Sophie Kubacki and Marie Morell; three brothers-in- law, Robert Hey, Cass Kubacki, Fred Guarnieri; two grandsons, Jimmy Morell and Ray Emming; and one sister-in-law, Lorrine Morell. The funeral service will be at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. The Rev. Jan Dykshoorn, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Bad Axe, will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 until the time of the service at 6 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home. 1
