Kamp Floyd L. Kamp, 86, of Harbor Beach, passed away, Thursday, February 15, 2007, at Huron Medical Center of Bad Axe. Floyd was born December 13, 1920 to the late Francis & Ella (Hess) Kamp in Argos, Indiana. He married Dena Marquardt on April 18, 1942 in Port Hope. Floyd served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Harbor Beach serving on the church boards, the Harbor Beach School Board, and the Masonic Lodge Verona-Huron of Bad Axe. Floyd enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was out hunting or gardening. He also loved tinkering and fixing things. Floyd is survived by his wife, Dena; and two daughters, Cindy Burchfield and her husband, Robert, of Grand Rapids, and Linda Anderson and her husband, Greg, of Hershey, Pennsylvania.; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lesta, Cleo, Izetta, and Gladys. A funeral service for Floyd will be at 1 p.m. today in the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach with the Rev. Theresa Cutler officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Falls Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association, the First Presbyterian Church, or to the donor's choice. Gerald E. Lilla Gerald E. Lilla, 76, of Harbor Beach, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007, at Harbor Beach Community Hospital following a brief battle with cancer. Born in Detroit on October 18, 1930, he was the son of the late August and Rose (Ficht) Lilla. Gerald was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was an employee of the National Broach Company in Detroit retiring in 1987 after working for over 30 years. On September 22, 1979, Gerald and Rose Schick were united in marriage in Fraser. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach. Gerald enjoyed music, especially jazz, and enjoyed watching sports including University of Michigan teams and helped keep stats for the Harbor Beach JV football team. He loved to golf and be involved in political discussions. He loved the Harbor Beach area so much that he retired to the shores of Lake Huron near town. His moment of fame came in high school when he pitched a no-hitter during a CYO game. Gerald is survived by his wife, Rose, of Harbor Beach; a daughter, Anne Lilla, of Mount Clemens, and a son, Mark Lilla, of New York; three stepchildren, Robert Nowicki, of Warren, Joseph Nowicki, of Ohio, and Colette McMichael, of Lansing; 10 grandchildren; and two brothers, Thomas (Noreen) Lilla, of Warren, and Richard (Lois) Lilla, of Arizona. A funeral service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, in the Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor Beach, with Fr. T.J. Fleming officiating. Cremation will follow at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the U of M Onocology or to the donor's choice. Donna M. Neeb Donna M. Neeb, 80, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2007, after a long illness. Estelle Watson Estelle Watson, 83, of the Oak Beach area, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2007, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. today at the Kaufman Funeral Home. Tuesday, February 20, 2007 Roger Clark Bowers Roger Clark Bowers, 66, of Filion, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007, at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc. He was born in Romulus on February 26, 1940 to the late Kenneth and Gertrude (Cary) Bowers. He is survived by one brother, Russell (Doris) Bowers, of Bad Axe; one sister-in-law, Jenny Bowers, of Kinde; 13 nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Robert Bowers. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at the MacAlpine Chapel in Bad Axe. The Rev. Don Stroud will officiate. Burial will be in Colfax Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the chapel. Memorials may be offered to the Family Discretionary Fund. Paul W. Onifer Paul W. Onifer, 80, of Port Austin, died Monday, February 19, 2007, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born on September 14, 1926 in Bairdford, Pennsylvania, son of the late Paul and Sophie (Borowski) Onifer. Paul and Mary Fisher were married on July 3, 1947 in Detroit. They moved to Port Austin from Warren in 1987. Paul served in the United States Navy Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Port Austin, the U & I Club in Port Austin, The Knights of Columbus in Centerline, and served for years as an EME at St. Dorothy's Catholic Church in Warren. Growing up, Paul was an active sportsman. He was an avid reader and enjoyed classical music. Paul is survived by his wife, Mary; eight children, Judith (Leonard) Reino, of Gibsonburg, Ohio, David (Karon) Onifer, of Shelby Township, Geofrey (Sandra) Onifer, of Sanford, Suzanne Paridee, of St. Clair Shores, Paulette (Milton) Tow, of Bonita Springs, Florida, Annette (Anthony) Leone, of Shelby Township, Daniel (Donna) Onifer, of Tampa, Florida, and Mary Onifer and Lisa Spurlock, of Ferndale; 15 grandchildren, Jeff, Jackie, Kristin, Joel, Neil, Chelsea, Paul, Courtney, Carissa, Renné, David, Aimeé, Aaron, Shannon, and Phillip; and four great grandchildren, Mark, Dominique, Madison, and Chase. He is also survived by his sister, Monica Harrington, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Eldora Kierzkowski. There will be a vigil at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Charles Scheffner Charles Scheffner, 61, of Riverdale, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007, at his home. Charles was born November 4, 1945 in Libertyville, Illinois, the son of Leroy and Dolores (Schuster) Scheffner. He married Karen Schubert on September 9, 1967 at Visitation Parish in Bay City. He graduated from Libertyville High School in 1963 and received his master's degree in forestry from Michigan Technical University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970. He has lived in Riverdale for three years, Huron City for the previous 22 years, and Garden, Houghton, Thailand, and Germany before that. He was currently employed at Alma True Value Hardware. He was director of museums at Huron City Museums and interpreter for seven years at Fayette State Park. At Huron City, he was president of the Huron County Council of Chambers of Commerce, on the zoning and planning board of Huron Township, Thumb Area Transit Board, and a founding member of the United States Life-Saving Service Heritage Association. His great joy was helping people. Charles is survived by his wife, Karen, of Riverdale; and his sister, Margaret Dinklenburg and her husband, George, of Libertyville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant with Father Robert Byrne presiding. William James Slack William James Slack, 84, of Bad Axe, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2007, at the Huron Medical Care Facility. He was born November 21, 1922 in Detroit to the late John and Lavina (Bugg) Slack. He was united in marriage on July 20, 1973 to Cecilia Marie Talaski. Mr. Slack was a resident of Bad Axe. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He lived in Florida for 20 years before moving back to Huron County in the early 1990's. He was employed by the Huron Daily Tribune and Active for several years. He retired from the Bad Axe Post Office after 31 years. He was a past member of the Verona Hills Golf Club. He was also a member of the drum and bugle corp. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia, of Bad Axe; one son, Dan Slack, of Marshall, Missouri; one stepson, Gary (Mary) Thayer, of Elkton; two daughters, Linda Donaldson, of Dixon, Missouri, and Sue Hammelspoch, of Clearwater, Minnesota. and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherrie Murawski; one sister, Helen MacCallum. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Wednesday, February 21, 2007 Olive Agnes Busch Olive Agnes Busch, 95, of Harbor Beach, passed away peacefully Monday, February 19, 2007, in her home. Born in Detroit on September 7, 1911, she was the daughter of John Diehl and Agnes (Klebba) Diehl. In 1923, the family relocated to Huron County where they became farmers. Fr. Albert Melvin united Olive and Roman J. Busch in marriage on June 5, 1933 at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach. Roman was the former publisher of the Harbor Beach Times newspaper. Roman preceded her in death on October 24, 1993. Olive was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron parish, a beloved wife and wonderful mother. She loved to garden, cook, raise flowers, and take care of her children. She is survived by three daughters, Clara (Busch) and Richard Polson, of Chester, Virginia, Audrey (Busch) and Delmar Schubring, of Townsend, Montana, and Janice (Busch) and Kevin Fowler, of Lansing; three sons, Fred and Gloria Busch, of Sand Point, Gary and Joanne Busch, of Golf, Illinois, David and Deborah Busch, of Harbor Beach; daughter-in-law, Doreen Busch, of Swartz Creek, two sisters-in- law, Doris Diehl, of Unionville, and Frances Tschirhart, of Harbor Beach; fourteen grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one brother, Clifford (Dena ) Diehl, of Harbor Beach. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Busch, a grandson, Gregory Busch, brothers, Fred and John Diehl, and a sister, Agnes Christianson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2007, in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church. Annabelle F. Luettke Annabelle F. Luettke, 86, of Pigeon, passed away Friday, February 16, 2007, at Covenant Healthcare Harrison in Saginaw. She was born in Lorraine, Ohio on March 25, 1920, daughter of the late Frank and Anna Marie (Staehli) Greenwood. She graduated in 1937 from high school in Lorraine, Ohio. On June 26, 1948, she was united in marriage to Walter L. Luettke in Lorraine, Ohio. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1994. Mrs. Luettke worked as an administrative assistant and bookkeeper from 1953 to 1983 at the Cooperative Elevator Company in Pigeon. She enjoyed needlework and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed being outdoors and taking hunting trips with Walter to their cabin up north, as well as having picnics with her adopted families. She was a faithful longtime member of the Elkton Missionary Church. She is survived by two brothers, Franklin (Linda) Greenwood, of Belpre, Ohio, and Edward (Mae) Greenwood, of Lakeland, Florida; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2007, at the Elkton Missionary Church with Pastor Reggie Courliss, of the Elkton Missionary Church, and Dr. Alan G. Naffien, 91, of Lawrenceville, Georgia and formerly of Elkton, died Tuesday morning, February 20, 2007, at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville following a brief illness. She was born July 8, 1915 in Jackson Coounty, Ohio, daughter of the late Hiram and Marie (Clark) Kuhn. She was united in marriage to John O. Naffien on January 14, 1939 in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linkville. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1991. She was a member of Living Savior Lutheran Church, Buford, Georgia. She was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linkville. Hilda enjoyed baking and doing crossword puzzles. Surviving are one son, Duane and his wife, Rose Naffien, of Bay City; one daughter, Irene M. Love, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, with whom she made her home; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Koehler and Doris Crabtree, both of Sandusky, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 12 siblings. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2007, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linkville. The Rev. Lee C. Wenskay will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. She will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Sylvester J. Navock Sylvester J. Navock, 75, of Grindstone, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007, at his home. He was born December 19, 1931 to the late Jacob and Nellie (Strozeski) Navock. Mr. Navock was a lifelong resident of Grindstone where he farmed. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and of the Port Austin Conservation Club. He enjoyed playing cards and hunting. He is survived by one brother, Richard (Theresa) Navock, of Kinde; two sisters-in-law, Mary Navock and Sophia Navock, both of Port Austin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank Navock, Stanley Navock, Leo Navock and John Navock; three sisters, Gertrude Cheslock, Stella Shaddock and Theresa Ricketts. Thursday, February 22, 2007 Sally Mae Morrish Sally Mae Morrish, 68, of Cass City, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Saginaw, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born December 10, 1938 in AuGres to Arthur and Viola (Walker) Brown. She married Albert Mattice October, 1959 in Standish. She later married Harold “Brownie” Morrish on May 21, 1976 in Ubly. He died May 19, 2003. Sally worked assembly in many area factories. She loved to crochet. Sally enjoyed Bingo and played in Cass City and Caro. She enjoyed going up north to Indian River. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family especially caring for the three grandchildren that were living with her. Sally was a member of Living Word Worship Center. Sally is survived by her children, Ethel (Floyd) Morrish, of Gagetown, Alvin Bosley, of Detroit, Randy Bosley, of Verona, Ronda (Stephen) Snow, of Ubly; grandchildren living with Sally were Timothy Bosley, Aaron Bosley, and Rochelle Apley; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; stepchildren, Wanda (Carl) Reddick, Ruth Ann (Paul) Riccardi, Bonnie (Dennis) Rolston, Joy (Ronald) Horning, Gloria (Thomas) Stilson, Max (friend, Irene Hosner) Morrish, Jane (Charles) Williams, Sharon (Randy) Ashcroft; sisters, Pat (Dale) Albee, Helen McBride, Sheryl (William) Clark, Edward (Darlene) Bosley, Robert Brown, David Brown, Chris (Jerry) Knotts, Tammy (Rick) Klein, William Brown; many nieces and nephews. Currie Douglas Glen Currie, 75, of Harbor Beach, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2007, at Mercy Hospital in Port Huron after a long illness. Doug was born September 12, 1931 in Harbor Beach to the late Alec and Marguerite (Hunter) Currie. On September 15, 1951, he was united in marriage to Eleanor Dean in Harbor Beach. They shared more than 56 years together. He was a former employee of Hercules Powder Company in Harbor Beach retiring July 1990 after 28 years of service. Doug was a mason who helped construct many buildings in the area and was a gifted woodworker. He enjoyed bowling and golf and was known for his keen sense of humor and his love of music. He also was an avid bird watcher. Doug thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Doug is survived by his wife, Eleanor, of Harbor Beach; five children, Scott (Wendy) Currie, of Shepherd, Charles (Kathy) Currie, Marjory (Alvin) Roggenbuck, Gale Watts, all of Harbor Beach, and Robert (Karen) Currie, of Bad Axe; 12 grandchildren, Kevin and Kendra Currie, Bill, Kyle, and Kayla Currie, Shauna (Roggenbuck) McCulley, Ashlee Roggenbuck, Douglas and Mitchell Watts and Jason, Megan, and Jacob Currie; two stepgrandchildren, Allison and Nick Wallace; two great granddaughters, Paige Currie and Alexa McCulley. He is also survived by one sister, Dorothy (Harold) Creguer; one brother-in-law, Carlton Engle; one sister-in-law, Beada Currie, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Currie; and a sister, Phyllis Engle. Judith Lynne Majeski Judith Lynne Majeski, 53, of Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, February 17, 2007, at her home, surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born September 7, 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland, daughter of Delores Sprowls, of Avella, Pennsylvania, and the late Harold Sprowls. Mrs. Majeski was employed as a registered nurse for Canonsburg General Hospital. She was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church. On July 2, 1977, she married Gary Majeski. Surviving are her husband, Gary; two sons, Eric (Judy) Majeski, of Washington, Pennsylania, and Jason Majeski, of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania; brother, Harold (Jude) Sprowls, of Las Osos, California; sister, Melissa (Vince) Yevins, of Washington, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Arvella Majeski, of Kinde, and the late Don Majeski; brothers-in-law, Dennis Majeski, of Bad Axe, Tim (Carol) Majeski, of Bad Axe, Kevin (Kim) Majeski, of Bad Axe; sister-in-law, Tammy (Dean) Symbarski, of Bay City.
