Eleanor Laura (Trepkowski) Alent
February 13, 1896 - May 1, 1996
Mrs. Eleanor Laura Alent, 100, at Ubly, died Wednesday, May 1, 1996 at Four 
Seasons Health Care Center after a long illness.  She was born February 13, 
1896 in Parisville, the daughter of the late Joseph and Otilla (Gwisdalla) 
Trepkowski.  She married Xavier Alent on May 1, 1917 at St. Mary’s Catholic 
Church in Parisville.  He preceded her in death on July 19, 1964.  Mrs. 
Alent attended Schemka Country School.   She worked with her family and 
husband on the farm.  She was an avid card player and traveler.  She was a 
former member of St. Mary's Parish in Parisville.  She was a current 
parishioner of St. John's in Ubly for the last 20 years.  She was a member 
of St. Mary's Rosary, Sodality in Parisville.  

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Cass (Margaret) Grifka Ubly and Mrs. 
Stephen (Helen) Ulfig of Ruth; three sons, Earl (Meg) Alent of Holiday, 
FIorida,  David (Maryann) Alent of Bad, Axe and Eugene (Floy) Alent of Ann 
Arbor, 28 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-
grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Trepkowski of Minden City; and one 
sister, Bertha Swartz of Minden City.  She was preceded in death by one son, 
Chester Alent on February 6, 1993; a daughter, Alma Peruski; one 
granddaughter, four brothers, Ira, Leo, Walter and Julius; and four sisters, 
Clara Cook, Margaret Klebba, Martha Jaroch and Blanche Makowski.  

Funeral services were Saturday at Si John's Parish in Ubly; Rev. John 
Mullet, pastor, officiated.  Burial was m St. Mary's Cemetery in Parisville.  
Arrangements, were conducted by the Zinger-Smigielski  Funeral Home of Ubly.
