Leo Peter (Rose) Allen
December 11, 1941 - July 22, 2004
Leo P. Allen, age 62, a 31 year resident of Sterling Heights, died Thursday, 
July 22, 2004 in Veterans Hospital, Detroit.  He was born Dec 11, 1941 in 
Detroit.  Mr. Allen held various positions working for the U.S. Government and 
concluded his service as a mechanical engineer at the Warren Tank Plant.  He was 
a graduate of Central Michigan with a Masters Degree and a graduate of West 
Point in 1965.  He was a Captain in the U.S. Army and a Vietnam Veteran. 

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Edna; his children, Michael (Rhonda) 
Allen, Maureen (Kurt) Somsel, Mark (Eva) Allen and Marilyn (Jeff) Rivera; ten 
grandchildren, Lucas, Kayla, Jacob, Luke, Ashley, Jack, Hunter, Isabella, 
Samantha and Nicklas; his mother, Jean M. Babcock; his sister, Marlene Martin; 
and his sister-in-law, Myrt (Roman) Lautner. 

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 44633 Utica 
Rd., Utica. The Rev. Robert Fisher will officiate.  Burial will be in St. 
Patrick's Cemetery, Palms.  Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 9 
p.m. Sunday at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd. (3 blocks East 
of Van Dyke) Utica.  A scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday.  He will 
lie in state at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.  Memorials may be made to the 
St. Lawrence Educational Foundation Inc. or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

Additional Comments:
Note:  Born to Leo Adelbert (1906-1947) and Jean (Cameron) Allen.  After Leo’s 
death in 1947, Jean married Emerson Rose (1915-1977) in 1950, and Leo Peter went 
by the last name of Rose.  He reverted to the last name of Allen in 1980.  
Married Edna Mary Lemanski, daughter of Adolph & Helen (Block) Lemanski, on May 
14, 1966.
