Robert C. Becking 
December 20, 1926 - July 5, 2010
Robert “Bob” C. Becking, 83, resident of Sheridan Township, passed away Monday, 
July 5, 2010 at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe.  He was born December 20, 1926 
in Sheridan Township to the late Charles and Martha (Hubbard) Becking.  Bob and 
Miss Fran Lackowski were united in marriage on September 9, 1956.

He graduated from Bad Axe High School and was a lifelong crop farmer.  He was a 
member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Bad Axe.  Robert was active on the usher 
committee, served on the Board of Elders for many years and helped out with 
many church projects as a volunteer.  Robert was elected Sheridan Township 
Supervisor in 1978 and held that position for 26 years.  Prior to that, he 
served as township constable from 1972 to 1978. In 1989, he was elected as the 
Director for the Michigan Township Association, District 14 to represent 
township officials in Huron, Sanilac and Tuscola counties until 2000.  Bob was 
secretary of Becking School District No. 5 for 23 years, and served as the 
Central Huron Ambulance Board president from 1983 to 1995 and served on the 
Huron County Zoning Board of Appeals for 13 years.

He is survived by his wife, Fran; one son, Randy (Celine) Becking of Bad Axe; 
one daughter, Anna (Tom) Goodman of Bay City; seven grandchildren, Patrick 
Soper, Erica Becking, Melissa (Kris) Rittenbach, Krista Becking, Charles 
Becking, Mike Becking and Frank (Jeni) Mayes; one great-grandchild, Carlyn 
Mayes; one sister, Ilene Bannick of Bad Axe.  Bob was preceded in death by a 
brother, Charles Becking.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 at Our 
Savior Lutheran Church, Bad Axe with The Rev. Kenneth Lueke officiating. Burial 
will be in Colfax Township Cemetery, Bad Axe.  Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. 
Saturday and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the MacAlpine Funeral Home, Bad Axe and at 
10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.  Memorials may be offered 
to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Bad Axe.
