Crash in Fog Kills Bad Axe Young Man
Charles Becking, 24, route two Bad Axe, became Huron county's 14th traffic 
fatality when he was killed instantly Tues morning when his car and a truck 
driven by Daniel Guigar, route two Bad Axe, sideswiped. The accident occurred on 
McIntyre road, 4 1/2 miles south of Bad Axe and 1 1/2 miles west about 7:30 p.m. 
Becking was traveling east on McIntyre road and the stake truck was going west. 
A thick fog at the time of accident made visibility very poor for both drivers. 
Sgt John Carstensen and Trooper John Seppanen and Coroner Alden MacAlpine 
investigated. Becking was the fourth person to be killed in Huron county 
accidents since Sat. 

He was born June 19, 1930 in Sheridan Twp of which he was a life long resident. 
He is survived by his parents Mr and Mrs Charles Becking Sr, one brother Robert, 
Bad Axe; sister Mrs Harold Bannick, Bad Axe. He was a Korean War Veteran. He 
entered the service Oct 9, 1951 and served to July 8, 1953. He graduated from 
Bad Axe high school in 1948. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran ch.  He was 
a member of the American Legion Sherman Elvin Post, Bad Axe. He was employed 
at Rudy's Electric Shop in Bad Axe. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Fri 
from Our Savior Luth ch. Rev Karl Trautman will officiate. Burial will be in 
Colfax cemetery. Military services will be conducted. The remains are in the 
home of his parents.
