Bismack Jr. MINDEN CITY Albert S. Bismack Jr., 74, of Minden City, former owner of Bismack Hardware, died Wednesday. January 6. 1999 at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Grace: one daughter, Ruth Ann (Leo) Booms: two sons, David (Shirley) and William. The Weimer children, Gerald Weimer and Phyllis Beasley: two sisters: five grandchildren: six Weimer grandchildren: three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, 11 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Ruth. Visitation will be at Smigielski Funeral Home in Minden City from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today. Friday 1 to 9 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 to 10 a.m. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be said today at 7:30 p.m. A parish scripture service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the Friends for Life Hospice of Huron County. Published Times Herald (Port Huron, Michigan) Thursday January 7. 1999 ============ CIVIC LEADER - HARDWARE OWNER ALBERT BISMACK JR., DIES Albert S. Bismack, Jr., age 74, lifetime resident of Minden City and former owner of Bismack Hardware, died peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, January 6, 1999, after a long illness. He was born September 2, 1924 in Minden City, son of of late Albert S. and Anna (Kulish) Bismack, Sr. He married Eleanor M. Schumacher on October 24, 1942 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Ruth. She preceded him in death on December 14, 1979. He married Grace D. Rupprecht Weimer on October 3, 1986 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Ruth. Al graduated from the 8th grade at West Minden School and received his high school diploma in 1942 from Minden City High School. While in high school, he worked as an assistant bookkeeper for Minden City Farmers Elevator. He farmed for 11 years while working concurrently , for 7 ½ years at Huron Milling/Hercules Company in Harbor Beach. In the summer of 1954, he embarked on his permanent career ambition when he began working with his brother, Ray, at the Bismack Hardware retiring in 1986 as the owner/manager. In the winter he and his wife, Grace, were "Sanilac County Snow Birds" in Holiday, Florida. Albert was very civic minded and believed in supporting his community. Throughout his years in Minden City, he was a councilman and the mayor. He served as a volunteer fireman. The Lions Club recently presented him their 40 year Monarch Award and he was the Founding President of the Minden City Cemetery Association, holding this office until his death. While in Florida, he was an active member of the Holiday Lions Club and the Tarpon Springs Moose Lodge #1429. He was an active member of the Roman Catholic Church. He was a parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Church of Ruth and St. Vincent DePaul of Holiday, Florida, He served as an usher and lay minister of the Eucharist and the Word. He was a Third Degree member of the Ruth Council #3823 of the Knights of Columbus and Holiday Council #6473 and a Fourth Degree and Color Corps member of the Bad Axe Bishop Babcock Assembly #0487 of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his wife, Grace D. one daughter, Ruth Ann Booms and her husband, Leo A., of Warren; two sons, David A. Bismack and his wife, Shirley A., of Warren, and William A. Bismack of Adrian and special friend, Linda Wells, of Tecumseh; his Weimer family, Gerald R. Weimer of Hartland and Phyllis J. Beasley of Harper Woods, and special friend, William Trump; two sisters, Eleanor Eldridge of St. Clair Shores, and Ann Lynn and her husband. Dr. John, of Rolling Hills, California; his brothers-in-law, William K. Weimer and his wife, Marise, of Lincoln Park, and Elmer Brahmer of Ubly; sisters-in-law, Florence and Minnie Bismack of Minden City, Agnes Bismack of Ubly, Virginia Kroetsch and her husband, Wilfred of Minden City, Eileen Pelot of Minden City, and Mary Ann Schumacher of Kinde; five grandchildren, Amanda A. Booms of Warren, Jeffrey A. Booms of Oak Park, Illinois, Tracey L, Bismack Henricks and her husband, Eric, of Adrian, Elizabeth A. and Sarah E. Bismack of Warren; the six Weimer grandchildren, Dawn M. Drouillard and her husband, John, of Algonac, Sandra G. Suisse of Harsens Island, Daniel T. Beasley of Harper Woods, and Richard R., Natalie and Christopher Weimer of Hartland; three greatgrandchildren, Blake R. Bismack of Adrian and Danielle and Steve Suisse of Harsens Island; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and wonderful neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanor; seven brothers, Robert, Leo, John, Raymond, Jacob, Michael and infant brother, Adam; and four sisters, Louise Amies, Helen Kolar, infant sister, Albina, and Beatrice Brahmer. Mass of Christian burial was Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Ruth. Rev, Ronald Wagner, pastor, officiated. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the Spring. Arrangements were handled by the Smigielski Funeral Home of Minden City. Memorials suggested to Friends of Life Hospice of Huron County.
