Rose (Visga) Blarek
June 15, 1903 – March 20, 1962
Mrs. Rose Visga Blarek, 58, Detroit, widow of Joseph Blarek, died Tuesday in 
Henry Kiefer Hospital, after a long illness.  She was a former Port Huron 
resident.  Mrs. Blarek was born in Parisville, Huron County, June 15, 1903 and 
was married there to Mr. Barek in 1929.  He died in 1956.  

She is survived by four sons, Ernest Blarek, Warren, Mich., Robert and Gary 
Blarek, both of Detroit, and Elmer Blarek, St. Clair Shores; six daughters, 
Mrs. Marian Anna (William) Van Way and Mrs. Lillian (Durley) Frederick, both of 
Detroit, Mrs. Elsie (Frank) Anchor, Mrs. Violet Lillian (John) Sisitka and Mrs. 
Lorraine (Melvin) St. John, all of Warren and Mrs. Helen Florence (Melvin) 
Gerstenberger, Flint; a sister, Mrs. Edward Weiss, Port Huron; six brothers, 
Steve and Frank Visga, both of Marysville, John and Peter Visga, both of Port 
Huron, Sylvester Visga, St. Clair, and Edward Visga, Detroit, and 25 
grandchildren.

Remains are in Winckowski Funeral Home, 5801 East Seven Mile Road.  Funeral 
services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Raymond Catholic Church.  
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit.  Published The Times Herald

Additional Comments:
Norma’s Notes:  Daughter of Frank and Frances (Klama) Visga.  The actual 
marriage record shows that Rose and Joseph were married by J.P. Wolcott, 
Justice of the Peace on June 9, 1921in Port Huron.  The obituary as published 
only listed her daughters by their husband’s names.  I have added the names of 
her daughters.
