Elmer Norman (Al) Blarek
December 1, 1931 – May 9, 2009
Elmer “AL"  Blarek, Age 77 of Roseville went to be with the Lord on May 9, 
2009.  He was born on December 1, 1931 in Marysville.  He was a member of the 
Bricklayers Union Local 1 for 54 years and a Korean War Veteran. Al's love of 
life was spending time with his family and volunteering at St. Angela Parish 
where he has many friends.  

He is survived by his loving wife Dolores "Dolly" (nee Wasek) for 56 years. 
Seven Children: Ray (Tammy), Eddie (Carol), Tony (Vicki), Kathy (Doug) Gorski, 
Norm (Lori), Karen (Rodger) Siladke and Kristine (Mark) Romano.  Eighteen 
grandchildren: Michael (Laila), Carrie (Adam), Sarah (Rob), Tony (Veronica), 
Amanda, Raychel, Katrina, Kristina, Adam, Kayla, Karisa, Bradley, Max, Ryan, 
D.J., Matthew, Kaitlyn Kamryn, and Jared. Five great-grandchildren; siblings 
Bob (Darlene), Helen (Melvin) Gerstenberger, Gary (Charlene), and many nieces 
and nephews.   He is predeceased by parents Joseph and Rose, five sisters, 
three brothers and a granddaughter. 

Visitation will be Monday 5-9 p.m. and Tuesday 2-9 p.m. at Clyne & Sobocinski 
Funeral Home, 22121 Kelly Rd, Eastpointe with a Scripture Service at 7 p.m. 
Tuesday. Mr. Blarek will lie in state Wednesday at St. Angela Church, 25395 
Chippendale, Roseville from 10 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Burial 
will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.  From The Detroit News and
