January 2, 1960 - April 5, 2012 Kenneth John Block, Sr., age 74, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Regency on the Lake, Fort Gratiot. He was born on May 11, 1937 in Minden City, the son of the late Joseph C. and Marie M (Stimpfel) Block. Kenneth married Mildred M. Glaza on January 2, 1960 in Parisville, Mich. Kenneth worked at Riverside Metal Moulding for twenty-five years, and then several local automotive supplier factories such as RPM, Deckerville Die Form, Snover Stamping until his retirement. He was a parishioner of St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington. Kenneth enjoyed gardening, lawn work, visiting with his wonderful northern and southern neighbors, and building birdhouses with Ted. Their friendship and thoughtfulness are what kept Ken active until he got too ill. He will also be missed by his Sheltie dog, Sir Johnny Jump-Up. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; three sons, Ronald of Sterling Heights, Ernest (Lynn) of Loganville, Georgia, Randy (Kristie) of Novi; one daughter, Cynthia (Daniel) Davis of Lilburn, Georgia; one brother, Eugene (Colleen) of Minden City; one sister, Catherine (Norman) Zurick of Port Huron; one sister in- law Elaine Block; nine grandchildren, Alena Mecomber, Cassandra Bryning, Jarrett, Adam, Regina, Alexis, Matthew, Jordan, and Charity Block; four great grandchildren, Jaxon Bryning, Kaylee, Maci, and Grant Baldwin. He was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth, Jr., one brother, Carl Block; one sister, Rosaline Gliniecki, and brother in-law Charles Gliniecki. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the St. Denis Catholic Church, Lexington with The Rev. Robert P. Schikora officiating. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Regency on the Lake Nursing Home, Fort Gratiot. Kenneth’s wife wants to express gratitude and a special thank you to the Regency on the Lake staff for the loving care given to Kenneth.
