She was born on March 18, 1936, at home in Ruth, the twelfth child of 16 children born to John and Cecelia (Booms) Terbrack. Adelaide married Jerome Block, son of John and Margaret (Sadro) Block, on November 15, 1954, in Ruth. Adelaide attended Sts. Peter & Paul School and was a high school graduate. She was a lifelong homemaker and farmer, farming the land originally farmed by Jerome's father. Her son, Martin, continues the family tradition currently farming the land. Adelaide was a very hard worker. She was a lifelong parishioner at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Holy Apostles Parish in Ruth, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crosswords puzzles and helping others. Her priority was caring, cooking for and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Adelaide is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jerome; daughters, Carol (Jim) Parker, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Diane (Bill Grochowski) Block, Alpena, Elaine (Tony) Osentoski, Ubly, Sharon (Darin) Booms, Pemberville, Ohio; sons, Richard (Laurie Helewski) Block, Ubly, Martin (Deborah Kolar) Block, Ruth; grandchildren, Faith (Garrett) Jurges, Leah and Jillian Osentoski, Evan and Levi Block, Sarah (Ryan Lemanski), Kelsey and Morgan Block, Jacob and Madeline Booms; great-grandchildren, Carter and Parker Jurges; sisters, Alice Sadro, Bad Axe, Rosalia Holdwick, Bad Axe; brothers, John Terbrack, Southgate, Donald (Nancy Koss) Terbrack, Harbor Beach; sister-in-law, Delores (Harry) Roggenbuck; brother-in-law, Billie Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Adelaide was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; her daughter, Mary Patricia in 1956; son, Steven Gerard in 1964; grandson, Glenn Wade Osentoski in 1991; brothers, sisters and in-laws, Herbert (Janette Franks) Terbrack, Evelyn (Arthur) Learman, Jeanette (Frank) Seidl, Marvin (Jean Reid) Terbrack, Herman Terbrack, Rita (Arthur) Glaza, Marius Terbrack, Beatrice (Norman) Glaza, Matilda Johnson, Gerald Terbrack, Clarence Terbrack, Donna (Stimpfel) Terbrack, Kenneth Sadro, Richard "Dick" Holdwick; and Jerome's sister, Evelyn (Ralph) Kramer. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Holy Apostles Parish in Ruth. Rev. Donald Eppenbrock will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. Sunday and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Both services will be at the funeral home.
