Floyd Raymond Booms
December 10, 1926 – August 7, 2009
Floyd Raymond Booms, 82, resident and businessman of Bad Axe, died Friday, 
August 7, 2009 at his residence with family by his side.   He was born December 
10, 1926 in Sand Beach Township to the late Roman F.  and Theresa (Lautner) 
Booms.  He married Eleanor A.  Roberts at Ss.  Peter and Paul Catholic Church 
of Ruth.   Floyd was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church Bad Axe.  He was 
a former board member of the Sacred Heart Catholic School.   He attended the 
Ashmore Rural Country School.   He was also a U.S.  Army Veteran serving in 
World War II.  In 1957, he joined his father at Booms Construction.   Until his 
retirement in 1988, he remained active in management, a career spanning more 
than 50 years.   Floyd was a life member of Knights of Columbus 1546 Bad Axe, 
V.F.W.  Post No.  5740 Parisville, and served as a Bad Axe City councilman for 
15 years.   He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, winter months in Florida, and 
spending many hours at the horse barn.   

Survived by his wife, Eleanor, of Bad Axe; two daughters: Linda (Jeff) Janks of 
Bad Axe; Joann (Kevin) Osantoski of Bad Axe; three sons: Larry (Ann) Booms of 
Bay City; Tom Booms of Bad Axe; John (Sue) Booms of Bad Axe; grandchildren: 
Cheryl Booms, Renée (Brian) Flanagan, Doug (Molly) Booms, Bethany Booms, Brad 
Janks, Amy Janks, Evan Osantoski, and Miranda Osantoski; two sisters: Marie 
(Joseph) Kannikal, Norma (Jerome) Essenmacher; four brothers: Herbert 
(Patricia) Booms, Alvin Booms, George (Arlene) Booms, Daniel (Marjorie) Booms; 
one step-sister: Patricia (Donald) Ney; in-laws Virginia Roberts, Elmer 
Schroeder, Jean (John) Nash, Leona Heilig, Marie Roberts, Robert (Kathy) Zmich; 
several nieces and nephews.  Floyd was preceded in death by an infant sister; 
one brother, Clifford Booms; step-mother, Genevieve Booms; three sisters-in-
law, Audrey Booms, Evelyn Zmich and Dorothy Schroeder; three brothers-in-law, 
Louis Roberts, Henry Heilig, William Roberts.

Mass of Christian Burial took place at 11 a.m.  Monday August 10, 2009 at 
Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bad Axe.  Father Robert Howe will officiate.  
Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery Bad Axe.   Memorials 
may be made to the Huron County Community Foundation, Huron Medical Center 
Foundation, or Family Discretionary Fund.
