He was born June 26, 1925 to Edward and Cecelia Booms in Ruth, Michigan. LaVern worked as a machinist at Malloy Manufacturing and Uniflow Corporation. He resided with his wife and family in Berkley Michigan for 36 years, and was a long time member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Berkley. Upon retirement, he relocated to Beaverton, Michigan and resided there for 26 years until his death. He became a member of St. Anne/Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Edenville. LaVern enjoyed many outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a former bowler and golfer. He also took pleasure in following Detroit's professional sports teams. LaVern is survived by nine siblings Lucille Niemi, Stella Lemanski, Loretta Gusa, Jerome, Harold, Leona Mausolf, Leo, Delores McLain (deceased), Irvin, Marlene Mausolf, eight grandchildren Kelly (deceased), Gordon, Timothy, Richard Jr., Laura, Matthew, Thomas, John, Anthony (deceased), Allison and ten great- grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be conducted on Monday, November 17, 2014, 11:00 A.M., with visitation beginning at 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Edenville, Michigan. He will be laid to rest on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, 12:00 P.M. at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Grace Church.
