Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home Obituary Ruth Ann (Bismack) Booms May 12, 1943 – March 23, 2016 Ruth Ann Booms, age 72 of Warren, died March 23, 2016 at the Arden Court Assisted Living Facility in Sterling Heights. She was born May 12, 1943 in Deckerville, Michigan, daughter of the late Albert and the late Eleanor (nee: Schumacher) Bismack. Ruth Ann's education was very important to her, and ultimately became a driving force towards the career choices she made in adulthood. But it all began in the little elementary school in Minden City, Michigan where Ruth Ann completed both Kindergarten and First Grade. Prior to entering second grade, her parents enrolled her at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic School in Ruth, Michigan where she would go on to finish out her childhood education and become a proud graduate of the Class of 1961. Throughout these years, Ruth Ann was happy to be a part of both the Girl Scouts of America and the 4H program at school. Her education would ultimately ensue, but not before Ruth Ann's life would be blessed with the inception of family, beginning, of course, with the man that God placed in her life to be her helpmate and husband, Mr. Leo Booms. The two lovebirds courted and grew deeper in love which culminated in the sharing of vows and the blessings of marriage, a path they chose to walk together as husband & wife. Ruth Ann & Leo were married on October 13, 1962 in the presence of their loved ones and friends, and began their journey with the highest of hopes and strength from above, a recipe for the kind of memorable marriage they enjoyed for over 54 years. It was in 1980 that Ruth Ann's life opened up and began to blossom as she answered the call towards personal growth, both in education and a new career. Having spent the past 18 years nurturing the home-fires and raising 2 beautiful children, it was now time for her to begin fulfilling some of the visions she had held in her youth, that of building upon her education and putting it to use to help others grow. So it was that in 1980, Ruth Ann enrolled into furthering education at Macomb County Community College where she undertook studies related to the world of business. Meanwhile, amidst her schooling, this was also the time she went to work for the Michigan Public Schools. In 1986, Ruth Ann was proud to complete her courses at MCCC, graduating Summa Cum Laude and receiving her Associates Degree in Business Management. Pretty sharp for a wife, mother and working girl, eh? Next would find Ruth Ann taking things a step further by enrolling in the extended degree program at Central Michigan University where she graduated in December of 1990 with her Bachelors of Science Degree in Management & Supervision. This all lead to her goal of working in the field of education, a career she enjoyed with both the Chippewa Valley and Warren Woods School Systems for over 10 years until her well- deserved retirement on January 31, 2000. Everybody knew Ruth Ann to be a woman with a heart of gold, a caring spirit, and a true servant of God. This shone in so many ways, one of the most charitable being the position she held as President of the Macomb County Alliance for the Mentally Ill from 1994 thru 1996. She was also quite proud of her role as leader within the Otsikita Council of the Girl Scouts of America, and the integral part she played in working with the Cub Scouts as well. Yet of all the ties she held and the important outreaches of which she was a part, some of the most precious were the times she spent feeding her faith and sharing it with others. A longtime member of St. Malachy Catholic Church in Sterling Heights, Ruth Ann was honored to be involved with the Women of St. Malachy's Club Board of Director's, a group of devout women from the church with whom she found sweet fulfillment in and through as they ministered, and were ministered to, by God's leading. Not only was Ruth Ann's faith strong and true, her love of education called upon that faith as she spent many years edifying the children in the church as a Religious Education Teacher, both at St. Malachy, as well as St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Warren. She was actually quite phenomenal, but never saw herself in that light. She was simply a vessel who availed herself to God's leading, and he used her often to touch a multitude of hearts and lives, and many of those lives will never be the same. She will be missed immensely, but remembered often and fondly for the simple, humble and loving way that she gave of herself so richly and deeply, a testimony to the faith that guided her journey. May she rest in peace. Ruth Ann was the beloved wife of Leo. Devoted mother of Jeffrey (Helena) Booms, and the late Amanda Booms. Loving grandmother of Anah Yates Booms. Dearest sister of David (Shirley) Bismack and William (Becky) Bismack. Cherished aunt of Elizabeth (Shawn) Furtah, Sarah (David) Bismack-Gallerini, Tracey (Richard) Warchuck, Dustin, and great-aunt of Lexie, Lucas, Blake, Anthony, and Rilee. Visitation for Ruth Ann will be held Wednesday, March 30th from 3-9pm, with a 7:00pm Scripture Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. She will lie in state on Thursday from 10:30 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 14115 Fourteen Mile Road in Sterling Heights. Interment will take place on Monday, April 4th, with a 1:30 pm Committal Service, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Please share memories of Ruth Ann at her memory book above.
