Booms, 95, of Harbor Beach, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Harbor Beach Long Term Care Facility. She was born September 8, 1908 in Sherman Township to the late John and Anna (Groll) Essenmacher. She married Wilfred C. Booms on June 4, 1930 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. He preceded her in death in 1988. Mrs. Booms attended the Helena School. She and her husband spent their married life on a farm in Sand Beach Township and attended St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helena. Estella was a former member of the Altar Society, a former 4-H volunteer and belonged to the Huron County Extension Club. Her hobbies included gardening, baking, especially Christmas cookies, and spending time with her family. She was an avid book reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, tatting and quilting. She is survived by three daughters, Marjorie Messing and her husband, Edward, Sr., of Minden City, Sr. Evelyn Booms, IHM, of St. Clair Shores, Joann Ginther, of Saginaw; four sons, Gerald Booms, Sr. and his wife, Georgeann, of Ubly, Charles Booms and his wife, Georgine, of Pueblo, Colorado, Dennis Booms and his wife, Joan, of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, Harry Booms and his wife, Verna, of Harbor Beach; 36 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; former son-in-law, Willard Messing and his wife, Diane, of Minden City; one sister, Helen Weber, of Ubly; three sisters-in-law, Nora Essenmacher, of Harbor Beach, Bea Essenmacher, of Eastpointe, Anna Essenmacher, of Bad Axe. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sheila Messing; three sisters, Cecilia Bischer, Clara Vogel, Bernice Weber; and eight brothers, Walter, Arthur, August, Norman, Henry, Leroy, Cyril and Raymond Essenmacher. Funeral mass for Mrs. Booms will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2004, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helena. The Rev. Andrzej Boroch, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, from 1 until 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly, and from 10 a.m. until the mass at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. There will be a joint rosary at 8 p.m. on Tuesday by the St. Anthony Altar Society and the St. Mary Men's Club and a vigil service at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Both services will be at the funeral home.
