Mrs. Katherine Booms an old settler died Tuesday at the age of 86 years, at the 
home of her son John near Harbor Beach.  She was born in West Falcon Germany.  At 
the age of 29 years she came to this country and made her home here.  

She leaves to mourn her loss five sons:  Henry and Herman of this place; Barney 
of Cleveland, Ohio; Joe and John of near Harbor Beach.  Funeral services were 
held this Friday from St. Peter & Paul’s Church, Ruth.

Norma’s Notes:  Marie Catherine Siemen was born in Germany on July 19, 1837.  
She died two days before her 87th birthday on July 17, 1923 in Sherman 
Township, Huron County, Michigan.  She was the daughter of Anthony Siemen and 
JoAnna Marie Gertrude Schwitte.   She married Joseph Bernhardt Booms on 
September 20, 1864 at St. Ludgerus Church in  Weseke, Germany
