Booms July 29, 1910 – May 31, 1993 LeRoy J. Booms. 82, of Sand Beach Township died Monday, May 31, 1993, at Harbor Beach Community Hospital after a brief illness. He was born July 29, 1910 in Sherman Township, son of the late John and Elizabeth (Bischer) Booms. He married Helen Eppenbrock May 29, 1935 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. Mr. Booms was a lifelong Sand Beach Township farmer and carpenter. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and was the first person to be baptized in St. Anthony’s Church building. Surviving are his wife, Helen of Harbor Beach; four sons, Marvin and his wife Virginia, Paul and his wife Shirley, all of Harbor Beach, Michael and his wife Linda of Shelby Township and Lloyd and his wife Elizabeth of Ubly; four daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Donna) Pulcer and Mrs. Jerome (Eileen) Volmering, all of Harbor Beach, Sister Jean Booms, Immaculate Heart of Mary order, of Essexville, and Mrs. Calvin (Sharon) Messing of Rochester, New York; 28 grandchildren” 24 great-grandschildren; one brother, Leonard of Harbor Beach; and seven sisters, Clara Roggenbuck, Rosaline Messing, Emma Geiger and Margaret Maurer all of Harbor Beach, Alma Messing of Ruth, Bernetta Messing of Minden City and Loretta Dropiewski of Port Hope. He was preceded in death by an infant son; four brothers, Roman, Arthur, Wilfred, Bernard and an infant brother. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helena. The Rev. Stephen Fillion, paster, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Ramsey Funeral Home in Harbor Beach today from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday from noon-9 p.m. and Thursday from 9-10:30 a.m. There will be a rosary at the funeral home at 8 p.m. tonight by the Men’s Club and a parish Scripture service 8 p.m. Wednesday.
