Booms, 85, of Sand Beach Township near Harbor Beach passed away Sunday, January 9, 2000, in the long-term care unit of Harbor Beach Community Hospital. She was born on March 20, 2014, in Ruth to the late Joseph and Louisa (Gentner) Eppenbrock. She attended SS. Peter and Paul School in Ruth and on May 29, 1935. She and Leroy Booms were married in SS. Peter and Paul Church in Ruth. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1993. Helen enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting, playing cards and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Altar Socient, and a member of the Daughters of Isabella Circle No. 608. Helen is survived by four sons, Marvin Booms and his wife, Virginia, of Harbor Beach; Paul Booms and his wife, Shirley, of Harbor Beach; Michael Booms and his wife, Linda, of Shelby Township; and Lloyd Booms and his wife, Elizabeth, of Ubly; four daughters, Donna Pulcer and her husband, Raymond, of Harbor Beach; Sr. Jean Booms, IHM, of Monroe; Eileen Volmering and her husband, Jerome, of Harbor Beach; and Sharon Messing and her husband, Calvin, of Long Island, New York; 28 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Lawrence; and two brothers, Marcus and Romanus Eppenbrock. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2000, in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Helena, with the Rev. Charlie Hammond, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. An Altar Society rosary will be conducted at 8 tonight and a Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a parish cigil sercice at 8 p.m. all at Ramsey Funeral Home, a Golden Funeral Home, in Harbor Beach. Visitation is 7 to 9 p,m, today, from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 to 10:300 Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic School, SS. Peter and Paul School, Sisters of IHM. Or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
