Marvin Joseph Booms
January 7, 1954 – July 23, 2019
Mr. Marvin “Marv” J. Booms, 65 of Harbor Beach, passed away Tuesday July 23, 
2019 at the Harbor Beach Community Hospital due to an apparent heart attack.  
Marv was born on January 7, 1954 in Harbor Beach to the late Melvin and Esther 
(Philippi) Booms.  He married Rose Nowotny in December of 1985 at Sts. Peter & 
Paul Catholic Church in Ruth.  Marv attended Sts. Peter & Paul High School in 
Ruth and Harbor Beach High School.  He worked for a peat moss company in 
Sandusky and farmed with his family.  Marv enjoyed fishing, hunting, word 
searches and reading his bible daily.
 
Marv is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rose of Harbor Beach; one son, Kent 
Booms of Harbor Beach; his siblings, Catherine Slater, Diane (Warren) Reidel and 
Joyce (James) Slater, all of Harbor Beach, Joseph Booms of Port Hope, Kevin 
(LuAnn) Booms of Jacksonville, Florida, Louise (Kevin) Hessling of Ubly, Sylvia 
(Joseph) Alent of Minden City, Phillip (Kathy) Booms and Lois (Floyd) Tenbusch 
of Ruth; 6 brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law many nieces and nephews.  Marv 
was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary and one brother-in-law, Gary 
Slater.
 
The funeral service for Marv will be 2:00 pm Saturday, July 27 at the Zinger-
Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly.  Mr. Robert Nowotny will be presiding.  Marv’s 
final resting place will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Ruth.  
Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Saturday 
from 11:00 am until the service at 2:00 pm.  Memorials can be directed to Marv’s 
family, care of his loving wife, Rose.  Published by Zinger-Smigielski Funeral
