Earl was born on April 25, 1933 to Arthur and Henrietta (Kirsch) Booms. He married Beatrice Gentner on October 18, 1958 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ruth. He attended Ashmore School. Earl served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He enjoyed sharing memories about his service in Germany. He was a former member of the Ruth Farmers Elevator Board of Directors, former member and delegate of Michigan Milk Producers Association and former member of the Michigan Animal Breeders Association. He was a current member of the Holy Name of Mary Parish, previously St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He was an active member of the Parish Men’s Club, former member of the Parish Council and served as an usher for many years at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Earl was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved spending time with all of them. Earl enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, hunting, and working. He looked forward to his annual hunting trip up north which he enjoyed for 60 years. Earl was a hard working farmer and proud to be a dairy farmer. Once the dairy cows were sold, he focused on beef cattle and row crop farming. He also spent time during the fall and winter months cutting and splitting wood to keep their house warm and cozy. Earl enjoyed listening to the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings during chore times. Later, he watched the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions games on TV, his favorite phrase being “Good Gravy” when a bad play was made. He loved to play Euchre and enjoyed socializing with family, friends and anyone that had a few minutes to spare. Earl is survived by his wife of 62 years, Beatrice whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his 9 children and their spouses; Marian and Isadore Romzek, Benedict and Judy Booms, Edward and Tammy Booms, Anthony and Lorie Booms, all of Harbor Beach; Lois and Chris Gong of Bad Axe, Connie and Rod Armstrong of Dorr, Phyllis and Michael Stein of Harbor Beach, Deanna and Joseph Braun of Harbor Beach and Paula and Rick Emerick of Ruth. Earl is survived by his grandchildren and their spouses; Cassandra and James Richards, Danielle and Robert Breedlove, Katelyn Romzek, Kristie and Jared Jurgess, Jolene and Raymond Wolschleger, Bradley and Camay Booms, Richard Booms, Nathan and Danielle Booms, Mitchell Booms, Maxwell Booms, Nicholas and Ashley Booms, Matthew and Jamie Booms, Andrew and Jensen Booms, Jason and Danielle Booms, Kyle and Whitney Bischer, Ryan and Melissa Bischer, Jade Gong, Kelsey Gong, Jessica Armstrong, Joshua Armstrong, Brian Stein, Thomas and Krysta Stein, Kevin Stein, Jocelyn Braun, Joseph Braun and fiance’ Jackie Geiger, Johanna Braun, Tristan Emerick, Dustin Emerick and Jackson Emerick and step grandchildren; Nathan Hudson and fiance’ Meghan Zehnder, Sam Hudson and Allison Hudson. Earl is survived by his great grandchildren; Remington and Emma Richards, Elliana and Jacob Breedlove, Jayden and Jacklyn Jurgess, Braylin and Baylee Wolschleger, Blane and Connor Booms, Bryce and Brady Booms and Vivian Booms. Earl is also survived by his siblings and their spouses; Alice and Allen Depcinski, Carl and Marjorie Booms, Jane and Harvey Learman. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law; Bernard Holdwick, Elizabeth Booms, Delores and Harry Roggenbuck, Marie and Kenneth Helmreich, Bernard and Marlene Gentner, Raymond Gentner and fiance’ Christine McMurray. Preceding him in death were siblings and spouses; Rita and Raymond Depcinski, Raymond and Ethel Booms, Violet Holdwick; infant siblings; Betty, Charles, Frances, Richard and Vivian and brothers-in-law James Gentner and Clarence Terbrack. A private family funeral service will take place. Arrangements are being handled by the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Memorials may be given to the Holy Name of Mary Parish Men's Club.
