Edward Joseph Booms
March 19, 1892 - July 16, 1986
Edward Joseph Booms, 94, Ruth, died Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital Saginaw 
after a short illness.   He was born March 19, 1892 in Sherman Township son 
of the late Henry and Anna (Wolschleger) Booms.  He married Cecelia Klrsch 
in 1920 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Helena.  She preceded him in death 
December 15, 1979.   He was a World War I veteran and farmed in Sherman 
Township until 1957.  He was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul 
Catholic Church, Ruth, and an honorary life member of the Ruth Veterans of 
Foreign Wars Parisville Post No. 5740.  He was Sherman Township Treasurer 
from 1930-1940.

Surviving are six daughters Lucille Niemi, Detroit Mrs. Leo (Stella) 
Lemanski, Ubly, Mrs. Jim (Lauretta) Gusa, Mrs. Kenneth (Leona) Masolf, and 
Mrs. Marvin (Marlene) Mausolf, all of Harbor Beach and Delores McLain, 
Margate Florida; five sons Laverne Booms, Berkley, Jerome Booms, Ruth, 
Harold Booms, Royal Oak, Leo Booms and Irvin Booms, both of Warren; 50 
grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; two brothers Marcus Booms, Lake City, 
and Norman Booms, Detroit  He was preceded in death by five grandchildren, 
three sisters and one brother.

Services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic 
Church, Ruth.  The Rev. Loren Kalinowski, pastor, officiated, with burial in 
the church cemetery.  A graveside military service was conducted by the Ruth 
VFW.  Arrangements were directed through the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home
