Melvin Michael Booms June 7, 1926 - January 26, 1989 Melvin Booms, 62, Harbor Beach, died Thursday, January 26, 1989 at Harbor Beach Community Hospital after a short, illness. He was born June 7, 1926 in Sherman Township, son of the late Frank and Theresa (Tenbusch) Booms. He married Esther Philippi November 29, 1947 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Forestville. Mr. Booms was a graduate of East Sherman No. 1 School and was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ruth. He farmed for many years in Sherman Township and was employed at Bisnack Hardware, Palms, 25 years. Surviving are his wife, Esther, Harbor Beach; six daughters; Mrs. Gary (Catherine) Slater, Mrs. Warren (Diane) Riedel, Mrs. James (Joyce) Slater and; Mrs. Kevin (Louise) Hessling, all of Harbor Beach, Mrs. Joe (Sylvia) Alent, Minden City and Mrs. Floyd (Lois) Tenbusch, Ruth; four sons. Marvin Booms, Harbor Beach, Joseph Booms, Port Hope, Kevin Booms, Jacksonville. Florida, and Philip Booms, White Rock; 18 grandchildren; seven sisters, Mrs. William (Beatrice) Bishop. Memphis, Mrs. Titus (Gertrude) Salowitz, Palms, Mrs. Donald (Marie) Lang, Palms Mrs. Clarence (Eleanor) Wooldridge, East Detroit, Mrs. Bernard (Annabelle) Wruble, Detroit Mrs. Ira (Gladys) Wrubel, Harbor Beach, Mrs. Richard (Irene) Lemanski, Harbor Beach; and three brothers, Eugene Booms, Vincent Booms and Angus Booms, all of Harbor Beach. He was. preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Catherine Booms, June 7, 1948; one grand-daughter; and one brother, Ralph Booms, January 29, 1957. Services were held Monday, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ruth. The Rev. Richard Bokinskie. pastor, officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were conducted by the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home of Ubly.
