Booms October 4, 1900 - March 10, 1982 Roman F. Booms, 81, founder of Booms Construction Company, Bad Axe, died Wednesday morning at his residence in Bradenton. Florida. He was born October 4. 1900 In Harbor Beach, son of the late John and Elizabeth (Bischer) Booms. Mr. Booms and Miss Theresa Lautner were married November 5, 1924 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ruth. She preceded him in death on August 16, 1969. Mr. Booms later married Mrs. Genevieve Simons on August 1, 1970 at Bad Axe. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Bad Axe. Mr. Booms was a Sand Beach Township farmer and had lived in Bad Axe since 1965. He was president of the Ruth Farmers Elevator from 1935 to 1968. He founded the Booms Electric Company, which was later incorporated as Booms Construction Company. He was a member of the Ashmore School Board and an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1546, Bad Axe. Mr. Booms retired in 1962. Surviving are his wile; six sons, Floyd Booms and Herbert Booms, both of Bad Axe, Alvin Booms and George Booms, both of Minden City, Clifford Booms, Bradenton, Florida, and Daniel Booms, Harbor Beach; two daughters. Mrs. Jerome (Norma) Essenmacher, Carsonville, and Mrs. Joseph (Marie) Kannikal, Royal Oak; 26 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five brothers, Arthur Booms, Wilfred Booms, LeRoy Booms, Bernard Booms and Leonard Booms, all of Harbor Beach; seven sisters. Mrs. Leo (Clara) Roggenbuck, Mrs. Bernard (Rosaline) Messing, Mrs. Clarence (Emma) Geiger and Mrs. Edward (Margaret) Maurer, all of Harbor Beach, Mrs. Loretta Dropeski, Port Hope, Mrs. Elmer (Alma) Messing, Ruth and Mrs. Frank (Bernetta) Messing, Ruth; one step-daughter, Mrs. Donald (Patricia) Ney, Bad Axe; seven step-grandchildren. and four step-great grandchildren. One daughter, one brother and one step-daughter preceded him in death. Services were held 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bad Axe. The Rev. Charles W. Keho, pastor, officiated. Burial was in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Helena. There was a parish rosary at 8.15 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8:45 p.m. last Friday at the MacAlpIne Funeral Home. Bad Axe.
