He was born May 30, 1903 in Sherman Township to the late John and Elizabeth (Bischer) Booms. He married Henretta Kirsch on October 12, 1926. She preceded him in death August 11, 1974. He and Phoebe Zurek were married October 4, 1975 in Smiths Corners. She preceded him in death August 4, 1984. He was a lifelong Sand Beach Township farmer and carpenter. He was a member of St Anthony's Catholic Church, Helena, the Men's Club, Farm Bureau and Michigan Milk Producers Association. Surviving are three sons, Earl (Beatrice) Booms, Raymond (Ethel) Booms, and Carl (Marjorie) Booms, all of Harbor Beach; four daughters, Mrs. Rita (Raymond) Depcinski of Bad, Axe, Mrs. Alice (Allen) Depcinski of Cass City, Mrs. Violet (Bernard) Holdwick of Harbor Beach, and Mrs. Jane (Harvey) Learman of Rochester Hills; 36 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy Booms and Leonard Booms, both of Harbor Beach; seven sisters, Clara Roggenbuck of Harbor Beach, Laura Dropieski of Port Hope, Alma Messing of Ruth, Bernette Messing of Minden City, Rosline Messing, Emma Geiger and Margaret Maurer all of Harbor Beach; two stepsons, Robert (Jardine) Zurek of Bad Axe and Melvin (Jean) Zurek of Harbor Beach; five, stepdaughters, Mrs. Jeannette (Edmund) Guza of Harbor Beach, Mrs. Evelyn (Clemens) Kubadd of Ubly, Mrs. Phyllis (Marvin) Kociba of Harbor Beach, Mrs. Anna Mae (Gerald) Learman of Filion, and Mrs. Margaret (James) Ritter of Bad Axe; 40 step-grandchildren and 55 step-great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Richard Booms; three daughters, Frances, Elizabeth and Vivian; two grandchildren, Beverly and David Holdwick; four brothers, Roman, Wilfred, Bernard and Leroy. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Helena. Rev. Stephen Fillion, pastor, will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
