He was 64 years old. Coroner Alden A MacAlpine said after an investigation by himself and Trooper Maurice R Buron that Mr Brinker apparently ended his life because of despondency. Mr Brinker's body, clad in underwear, drifted ashore Fri afternoon and was discovered by Syl Powerski, Detroit, who camping on the lake shore. Thomas Hockstra, Detroit, told Trooper Buxton that he saw a man apparently swimming in the lake at 6 a.m. Instigation revealed that Mr Brinker left his home in Kinde at about 5:30 a.m. Mr Brinker was active in business, civic and church circles in Kidne many years. He operated lumber yards in Kinde, Bad Axe, Port Hope and Cass City. He was Village President about 20 years before he retired from office about 5 years ago. He was an elder of the Presbyterian church. Born Sept 24, 1883, in Parkhill, Ont. He came here when he was a boy. He is survived by his widow, Lucy, a son, Clayton Brinker, Bad Axe; four grandchildren, his step mother, Mrs Dinah Brinker, Filion, two sisters, Mrs William Simmon, Kinde, and Mrs Ishmael Filion of Filion; two half brothers, Ira Brinker, Ubly and Alva Brinker, Kinde, a half-sister, Mrs William Wahl, Port Austin; three stepsisters, Mrs Ora Benson and Mrs Bert Armstrong, both of Filion and Mrs Adeline Feenan, Detroit and two stepbrothers, Enoch Gratton, Lake Charles, LA and Abel Gratton, Welch, LA. The remains were removed today from the William D Gage funeral home to the Brinker home. Funeral services for Mr Brinker will be held at 2 p.m. Mon in the presbyterian church. Rev W Winston Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery. The remains will be removed noon Monday to the church.
