Geraldine (Grifka) Briolat
November 27, 1937 – May 8, 2016
Geraldine Briolat, 78, of Minden City, passed away peacefully, surrounded by 
her loving family, on Sunday, May 8, 2016, after a courageous battle with 
cancer.  Geraldine was born in Tyre, Michigan on November 27, 1937, daughter of 
the late August and Theresa (Osentoski) Grifka.  She married Eugene Briolat on 
July 13, 1957, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ubly.  In addition to being a 
homemaker, she worked at Hamill Manufacturing for 10 years and Deckerville Die 
Form for 21 years.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing and crocheting.

Geraldine is survived by her husband, Eugene Briolat of Minden City; son, Dan 
Briolat of Minden City; daughter, Doreen (Bill) Toby of Phoenix, Arizona; four 
brothers, Eugene (Dorothy) Grifka of Bad Axe, Chester (Sylvia) Grifka of 
Durand, Virgil Grifka of Capec and Duane (Connie) Grifka of Bad Axe; two 
sisters, Elaine Fiege of Romeo and Judy (Terry) Sheridan of Warren; one 
grandson, Ted Glaza of Washington; two brothers-in-law, Marshall (Kathy) 
Briolat of Flushing and Harold (Ranea) Briolat of Clio; four sisters-in-law, 
Delphine (Jim) Peruski of Deckerville, Chris (Richard) Peruski of Ubly, Glor 
(Mike) McCarty of Ubly and Jean (Kevin) Anthony of Ubly.  
Geraldine was preceded in death by one brother, George Grifka of Ubly and one 
sister-in-law, Jeanette (Jack) Peruski of Minden City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2016, at St. 
Isadore Parish-St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Parisville. Officiating will be 
Fr. Charlie Hammond, pastor.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of 
the service Friday at the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery of 
Ubly.
